The drop rate on the keys isnt very good, I looted 150 zaxxis insignias before I had all 5 keys.

After turning the 5 keys, Commander Ameer makes a new key and starts you on a quest called " Stasis of chamber Bashir" where you use the alpha key ( the one he made from the 5 keys you gave him) to open an alpha prison and a level 70 elite (gronn like) guy spawns. Myself (rogue), a priest and a warrior killed him easily.

The image of Commander Ameer at Bash'r's landing starts you on another quest called " The Mark of the Nexus King" that I believe requires you to go to mana tombs and kill the last boss there for a mark of the nexsus-king that you must turn to Commander Ameer.

That's how far I've gotten, will update when I have more info

About 2.5 hours of solo grinding as a pet spec hunter for 20.79 gold and 500 faction and opening up the Stasis Chamber of Bash'ir quest.

So you got this far and you're probably wondering "what next?"

When I got here, the quests weren't filled in, so here is what happens:

1) You've already done the prequests and started on your keys. Key drop is low as stated above. 5% sounds right.

2) All ethereals drop them, but the ones around mana forge ultris seem to have the best drop rate.

3) They are SELLABLE. Do not make these cheap as they are a pain in the ass, as below...

4) You hand in your first key and get your follow up. 5 Keys.

5) Hand in 5 keys, and go to Bashir's Landing in BEM (North)

6) Open Stasis Chamber Alpha and fight an 80,000 hp Gronn. Does a knockback attack (probably aggro wiping, but i dont know...) and a daze attack, but hey Blizzard: If you're going to make a quest say "5 man" dont make the mob fearable. Solo'd the mob with a mage friend taking out repops. 8 minute fight :P

7) Hand in the Gronn's drop and take the next quest. It took several re-reads of the quest, but essentially...

Get 5 Keys
Hand in 5 keys for 1 bashir's landing prison key
Open prison and beat up mob
Mob has a CHANCE to drop Mark of the Nexus-King
Enjoy :P

8) Hand in mark for key to open stasis chamber in heroic mana tombs. I think this will iether be a new room with new boss and a whole lot of treasure. Enjoy phat loots.

The Etherium in Blade's Edge Mountains (specifically Bashir's Landing) drop the keys as well. If you farm in Blade's Edge, you can get Apexis Shards and Etherium Prison Keys at the same time.

Since the Etherium Staging Grounds near Manaforge Ultris is currently overcrowded on my server with people farming for this quest, Blade's Edge provides a better alternative.

I can not get this quest for some reason. I completed Ethereum secrets (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=10971) but ameer does not give this one to me. I only get the repeatable quest for the prisoner ID tags.

I am revered with Consortium. I want to tell 1 important thing - the Zaxxis Stalkers and Raiders DO DROP these keys!!!

I got this quest and farmed the ethereals for about 2 hours, and no key dropped.
Next day I did heroic Mana Tombs and, guess what, 10 keys in the whole instance.

I highly recommend farming Zaxxis Stalker and Raider at The Heap, 30,77.

It's easier to do an AoE farm there and they also drop Zaxxis Insignia =)

After less than 45 minutes I got 50 Zaxxis Insignias and 6 Ethereum Prison Keys.

I am revered with The Consortium and I've completed the the other quests and yet I can't pick this one. Any ideas why?

OK, here's my question. I know the pre-req is the Ethereum Secrets, which turns into Ethereum Prisoner ID Catalogue...but that quest is repeatable for rep. I've done it a few times, and this quest (A Thousand Words) is not available yet. At what point does it decide you've done a repeatable rep quest enough to let you turn 5 keys into a stasis chamber key? (I'm exalted with consortium).

If you are working on Consortium rep this quest isn't the best use of your keys. This quest and the follow-on grant 1000 rep total. Using the 5 keys and turning in 5 Prisoner ID Catalogue's will get you 1250 rep so all things being equal you are better to skip this and keep turning them in for 250 rep each. Of course, once you hit exalted with them then it's a different story :-)

I had 7 Ethereum Prison Key and decided to get ids since its better rep than completing this quest. I got 1750 rep with consortium from 5 ids and freeing a guy (500 rep right there, no id though) and 500 rep for lower city from freeing another guy.
I am not geared for any heroic, so i think its better to get rep first till you are able to run any heroic

It seems to me, completing this quest is a great waste of gold if you are not farming Constitorum rep, just gold. These keys sell for 25g EACH on AH, and 5 of them is worth MUCH more than a couple quests of 11g each (at lvl 70). But ofcourse, you have 3 choices. Sell them, complete the quest for rep, or use them for rep with other factions or a rare drop.

This quest isnt that hard with a 70 hunter...just fy around on epic flying mount with track humnoids on, fly around 2-3 times till you see a Jailor...

The best way is to wander around the manaforge, Killing Nullifiers(~2.5%), And the Jailkeepers(100%).

I read the posts about this quest and tried to piece together the tidbits...

I checked for myself and indeed found an Ethereum Jailor at (57.6, 48.7) -- If you don't have a coord mod, that is about southeast of the southern most "umbrella" icon for the Ethereum Staging Grounds on your map, still on the same floating island of Manaforge Ultris. The Jailor dropped an Ethereum Prison Key for me. Unfortunately, the Jailors share spawns with the other mobs in the area (the Ethereum Nullifiers for example).

The Ethereum Jailors are slightly larger than the other mobs in the area and are red in color. You can find them from the original location I posted, stretching eastward toward the "C" in Celestial Ridge on your map.

I can also confirm that in my run of Heroic Mana Tombs a couple days ago, we had 6 or more keys drop for the group (another member of the party rolled on them against me so I slacked off on keeping an exact count).

4 keys
1st key popped a wraith type mob, dropped a green wand and an ID card
2nd key popped a blood elf, also dropped a green wand, and an ID card
3rd key popped a named nether ray model mob, a green ring and an ID card.
4th key popped a named lvl 71 Elite Sporregar - Escaped Sporregar Scout. This mob was non agro (thankfully.. when I saw the elite golden ring around its picture I had a stroke.. ) and simply praised me for helping it escape, and with a flash was gone, and I was credited +450 Sporregar rep. Not that I wanted/needed the rep. No ID card... so down a key ;(

At 3 ID cards handed in.. he still asks for more...

If you think this is a quick 15 min quest.. think again..

so is there a rep requirement or a quest before this? i did the first quest to turn in an ID and then it gives me the repeatable quest for turning in IDs. i currently have honored rep and have done all quests in netherstorm, but very few of the quests from nagrand or blades edge for the consortium.

If I turn in 5 ID's I get 250 each @ 5 ID's for 1250 Rep. If I save them for a Thousand Worlds, I get 5oo Rep. I suppose it's a matter of opionion what the better use of the keys actually is ... Not to mention a green or better drop each key used to get a tag.... No brainer for me since I am not revered yet and can't get this quest yet - will worry about saving 5 keys when I click Revered.

After this he sends you to Bash'ir's Landing in Blades Edge Mountains, the quest is called Stasis Chambers of Bash'ir

It is listed as a 5 man group quest, when you open the stasis chamber a 70 elite pops out called Thuk the Defiant, looks kinda like a mountain gronn. as a hunter with a whopping 5k armor he was hitting me for 1200-1500, not sure about any special abilities, i didnt stick around long enough to find out. soon as guildies get caught up to that part ill post some more info

One other thing, if you are on this quest DO NOT OPEN THE CHAMBERS! you need 5 of the keys to complete this quest, not the tags from opening the chambers. the tags are for repeatable rep and random loot. as far as drop rate id say less than 1% probably. it took me the better part of 3 hours of steady grinding to get all 6, the one for the prior and then these 5. dont expect to knock this out quickly, awesome if you get lucky but dont plan on it

Yea takes ages to farm those keys..
I found one mob called "Prisonkeyguysomethingcannotremember"
He dropped a key : P think he has 100% dropchance, not sure tho

I have cracked the code! Each tag is broken up into several segments. The front side of the tag is always the same and states: "A Thousand Worlds..." I am unsure as to the meaning of this phrase but it sounds insidious.

On the back side of the tag are the vital statistics. The first set of runes indicates location and the second indicates prisoner type. Furthermore, it would seem that the keys can be combined to form a special key that accesses another prison type. Now I just need more keys...
