First you have to kill any sort of wildlife in Shadowmoon(boars, diemetradons, etc) to loot the Fel Glands that drop. Drop rate for me was about 1/3.

Once you have 12, go back to Netherwing Ledge and combine it with the mutton the quest giver gives you near any of the Peon camps. Watch out for the 72 elites that patrol around the area because they hurt.

They do NOT drop from the Rays on the Shelf. Don't make the mistake I did in grinding these.

The Vilewing Chimeras drop them too, which is nice since they tend to "drop in" on you while you're trying to get the other things.

Some useful tips to avoid bugging:
- Don't drop food by the ones that are standing in a big clump and not mining (you don't see the picks moving).
- Make sure that there's at least two or three peons in each camp, so don't put one by a solitary peon because that's probably someone who did the booterang quest.
- Drop the meat an equal distance away from all peons (see note below)

Note: I'm pretty sure the "bug" lies in the position of the little haunch of meat relative to the peons. The "event" that occurs to give you credit for the camp is only started when ALL the peons in that camp (two or three of them) have run up to the mutton. If you place the mutton to close to one of the peons in the group, all the other peons will run towards the mutton except for the one that's already "close enough." Unfortunately, it seems that the "I'm close enough" check doesn't trigger the "I'm at the meat" check, and that peon never moves. The other two peons will typically clump on top of that peon, creating the "bugged groups" that you often see.

Solution: Make sure there's a decent gap between any given peon and the mutton you drop. You can stand a few yards away and still get them all to run. Just don't be hasty and drop mutton on top of a peon, because that will probably result in the bug.

I've done a little testing, but if anyone feels like wasting some glands to test this, feel free :D

For the people that want more than 12 of those Fel glands, just grind 12, poison the peons and don't hand the quest in yet, instead go grind 12 some more.
That way you're ready for the day after if you don't have much time to grind all Fel Glands again.
Or a good way is to group up as the other comments above me say.

Did the drop rate on these felglands get nerfed once you hit friendly? cause I decided to do it again awhile after I hit friendly, and it seems like the drop rate went down cause I killed like 10 of the gators so far, and I only got 3, weird.

Be sure to bring 13-15 glands to be safe, sometimes they tend to not work. maybe like one out of ten. :< boring to fly back to kill more. so do it to be safe

I found killing the diemetradons had a better drop rate, although killing them as a prot warrior took a long time =(

This is a terribly cruel quest :( I struggled to finish it once and decided never to do it again. I feel so sorry for those poor peons, it's one thing slapping a sleeping peon in Durotar, but poisoning them... First you see how delighted they are to think they're finally getting some food after all the exhausting work, only to end up dead afterwards! Horrible :(

DO NOT, I repleat DO NOT place the mutton close to the crystal, make sure you're back from the peons and the crystal before you place the mutton or IT WILL GLITCH, took me 3 times to figure out that I was too close and it was glitching.

STAND BACK A BIT AND PLACE IT.

The quest definitely isn't worth the effort, unless you need the 250 rep badly.

Killing enough beasts for 12 glands takes 15-20 minutes, maybe less if you're lucky. Apparently, you can't gather more than 12 glands either, so stacking a bit for a little safeguard isn't possible. Then, when feeding the peons, you have to double-check for bugged peons, watch out for the 72 elites ...

Did this quest one time, and it took me over half an hour. Only good if you're 250 rep short of the next rep level.

"A Slow Death" describes what it feels like to do this quest. After spending way too much time farming trash mobs on the mainland of SMV (which do not drop crystals or eggs) you get to look forward to getting a 11/12 completion when one camp bugs out on you. I avoid the camps that look buged, and still have at least one bug on me more often then not. The least they could do to make up for poor programming is allow us to pick up 13 or 14 just to be safe. But nope.

I'm with the other people. This quest is a collosal waste of time. The worst daily quest I've done so far.

A very good place to grind the Fel Glands at is around the green pond at 31,39. The Felfire Diemetradons has a mighty fair droprate - 50-60% aprox and they respawn very fast.

You basically just start at one side of the pond and work your way around. Once you've grinded your way through 1 round they have already started respawning again.

it seems once you get one meat you get one meat you have to fly
to the spot drop it, fly to main land get a meat and fly back.
the drops stop once u get yuor first peice of meat, so it's
going to tak longer now then before.

Do NOT do this Q alone if youre a healer, it takes forever and is not worth the time spent on it.
The droprate seems to differ from spot to spot, for me it has been terrible, first time i decided to try it out i killed about 75 of them (AS RESTO) before i got 12 glands, took me about 2 hours. Anyways, bring a friend if u aint got no dps, or dont bother.

Don't bother with this quest unless you're doing it together with somebody else. The droprate is 1 in 5 at best meaning you'll have to kill 60 mobs on average to complete. Dismounting and mounting 12 times while dodging 72 elites and making sure your peons are working just adds to the annoyance. You're guaranteed to find at least one egg worth the same rep just by flying back and forth between the fortress, cave and outer islands in the time it takes to complete this Q.

edit: The droprate on glands is probably a lot higher due to people killling mobs without having this quest, but it's still not worthwhile doing this quest over farming eggs imo.

I had an absolute TERRIBLE drop rate on fel-glands, I don't think I'll be bothering with this quest from now on. I killed at least 75 boars and diamatrons to only get 4 glands, at which point I gave up and tried to poison the camps. Used 2 poisons and both camps bugged out giving me no credit.

PROT PALLIES: DO THIS QUEST!

After reading all the comments about how horrible this quest was, I had skipped it initially... however, desperate for a little extra rep, I went and did it... and it's VERY QUICK and EASY for us.

Head to the pool at Eclipse Point (46,61), round up about half of the Dimetradons there, and AoE them down. Rest up, do the other half. The first half will start respawning while you rest up again. Only took a few pulls to get all the glands I needed!

PS - You do NOT have to WAIT for them to eat it and die. Just put it on the ground, mount up, and head to the next camp. You'll get credit for it about the time you're putting down the next one.

The best spot to use the mutton is right inside Dragonmaw Base Camp. The peons there seem to be less prone to bugging out (except the two behind the innkeeper), and the guards don't give a damn.

As an Affli lock, I usually grind Fel gland from Mutant Horrors. Fast respawn, good vendor trash and you can pull 4-5 of them.

There are no good places to farm for these it all depends on the formula that is being used for the day that determines the rate at which it drops. Today the rate was so bad 5 in three hours that it's not worth finishing till the next day

Just like to add its not really a formula more of a user's online drop rate the less people on the server the less chance of it dropping it seems though the odd chance of getting it right away

This Quest stinks :)... But here's some info...
Also, You need to kill both "Felboars" and "Felfire Diemetradon" to get some Loots thats you shall get 12 of then go back to "Netherwing Ledge" and make these "peons" sick.

While doing this quest for this first time, I accidentally clicked the mutton while at the Armorsmith. The two peons at the forge died and I got credit. So, there is a freebie for ya.

The glands don't seem to drop off of the domesticated felboars by Oronok torn heart. Just the regular ones.

It seems that you can not have more than 12 of the glands in your inventory at once. I have farmed about 2 days with 12 in my bags and so far not one has dropped to give me 13. If you want to farm enough for two days, you can complete the quest for that day but not turn the quest in. After you have cleared you bags of any of the glands during that day's quest, you can farm 12 more for the next day, turn in the quest for the first day, and still have the glands in your bags for the second day.

The Best Drop Rate for Fel Glands... well sort of ...

Netherskates on the mainland and only if you're the only one farmin them.

Biggest reason is it's not much different from the Felboars or any other beast that can dropem ... it's the bonus drop of motes of mana ;)

On average it'll take 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 runs along the entire edge of the mainland to collect the 12. Again if you're the only one there. Factor in the motes of mana droppin at the same time ... it's The Best Place.

Lizards around lake at 31,39 good for gland drops.

This is my first time doing this quest. Seemed to be 33% drop rate or so off boars and lizards NW of wildhammer keep. I killed 10 mobs after I had my 12 glands and not a single one dropped.

edit: Got a bit frustrated with this quest. I had some bugged peons 3 times when feeding them. I went to collect more glands and none would drop. I relogged and they started dropping again. Possibly a coincidence but not sure.

get more then 12 fel gland because some peons are bugged.
(i had only one bugged peon/fail)

peons are inside and around the dragonmaw base camp 66,88

just click Yarzill's mutton in your backpack, the peons will come for dinner ;-)

As mentioned in a previous post, make sure the peons are working before you use the Mutton. If they are standing still or are dazed ( wandering around ) then they will ignore the mutton and you lose the gland.... Frustrating...

Edit: For those who have not found out yet, the dazed, sleeping and disobedient peons are for the Booterang daily quest ( friendly needed ), and will not eat the mutton. The ones standing still are the bugged ones. Put the meat down by the peons that are mining.

You can also drop the glands from Felfire Diemetradons.

Can you stockpile fel glands so that you can get, say, 24 and just instantly hand in the quest the next day? Or is there some sort of limit. Such as only 12 a time or, maybe, they disappear after a day.

Well, after I collected my 12 glands today, I kept on killing to see if any more dropped. More than 20 kills later and no drops. So I either got really unlucky all of a sudden when I hit 12, or their actually Unique (12) even though it doesn't say on the tool tip.

Literally the worst quest. Ever. Drop rate is MAYBE 10% on the glands? you need to pick up the quest at the ledge, then fly back to smv and grub for these things for sometimes as much as an hour - no kidding - an hour. Then, god forbid one of your attempts on the orcs fails. Fly back, find a gland to try again. Just a godawful waste of time.

I found the best place to farm the Fel Gland for this quest is south of The Deathforge on the sides of the roads. Anything I have killed in the area with the word "Fel" in the name has had 100% drop chance.
