Take them below 20% health to be able to use the wrangler. You can mount and fly around with them, they will still follow you.

Edit: It has been changed to below 40%, can't recall which patch though.

A thing to keep in mind for Warlocks and Shadowpriests, is that the rope takes a bit to get it's full effect. I've had it happen to me where i'll have my DoTs on the ray, and i won't get it because my dots kill the ray before i get it wrangled.

Having 3/4 nether rays in tow gets a little annoying so if you run through the Skyguard camp one of the NPCs will take them of your hands so you can continue wrangling.

How do I start this? I'm Friendly with Ogri'la, did the flasks quest... the Gruul's Son's quest, Grim(oire) Buisness and I can't start it, help. :

I can do "Bombing Run" though

As an affliction lock it is quite hard to wrangle before your dots kill them.To accomplish this just dot coa and siphon life then drain life once its below 20% use the item and you got it :)...Hope this helps some of you fellow warlocks out there.
PS:it could die from dots when wrangled which becomes a problem this is why im posting this.

no, i completed bombing run and im still nuetral, but i got this quest. you just have to do bombing run first.

In order to get these quests you have to complete the Ogri'la quests first (starts at this NPC: https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=22941 )

Remember to take off any buffs you have that do damage to the attacker (Thorns, Molten Armor, etc.) so as to avoid unfortunate accidents (frustrating when you've got the ray nearly dead, and it attacks you and dies).

This quest obviously wasn't made with a 31/30/0 warrior with 2100 AP and Gorehowl in mind.

Getting a ray to 43%, 1shotting it with an autoattack. Killed about 16 rays now, wrangled 2. This is worse than Hogger tbh.

I wrangled one at 34%. Tried at 49% and it wouldn't work. So you can do it much sooner and faster. They will follow on mount and you can drop them off with a run-through of the Skyguard camp.

I'll try and update a more accurate % when I do more dailies.

EDIT: Was able to use the wrangling rope at 36%.
EDIT: Was able to use the wrangling rope at 39%. Don't think it can be used at 40%.

First look for Aether Rays, they should be the only neutral mobs. Then Attack them but do no kill them!. Warlocks should hold back your dots.

When they reach about 20% then you can use your Wrangling Rope and its yours!

This becomes a Daily

prequest = get 1 flask, then talk to ogre that sends u to the skyguard peeps, then just quest there till u got em all,

solo'd in bout a half hour? but i dont know if real time and wow time match up

for anyone that is having problems with this quest *as i did* you do have to beat on the Rays until you get a message saying they are now able to be tamed. I never got the message because i killed the buggers way to fast. so dont go crazy on them and then when you get the message just rope em and take them in. easy as pie and ads another Daily to your list ^_^ more gold every day i love it

Kill them down to about 20% and then do the rope. They hang onto you which is annoying. Easy if you use flying mount to where they are.

I just found out the hard way that his quest does indeed have prerequisite quests. Cashara was honored with the Skyguard so they would fly her to Blade’s Edge Mountains for free. But I could not get this quest.

I did the two ogre quests:
Our Boy Wants To Be A Skyguard Ranger
A Father's Duty
I was then given a quest to go talk to the Skyguard. But I still could not get this quest.

I spoke to a dwarf at the Skyguard camp. He sent me to Sky Sergeant Vanderlip. For the first time she offered me the quest to bomb the fel cannon ammo piles; Bombing Run. But I still could not get the wrangling quest.

I completed the bombing run, which really sucks on a basic flying mount, and I was finally able to pick up the wrangling quest.

Anyone know the faction you need to be able to get this quest and if there are any pre-quests first? None listed here as of this post.

Tried to get this quest today after getting honoured with the skyguard. No joy, you must need a flag from helping the Ogri'la first.

i barely ever quested in blade's edge so it could be anything because i am honored with skyguards but still cannot take this...

Skyguard Khatie has asked you to wrangle 5 Aether Rays. After you have done so, return them to her at the Skyguard Outpost atop the Blade's Edge Mountains.

Wanna help the Skyguard and Ogri'la?

Just hear me out before you walk away, <hot stuff/girly>. We're in need of remounts! The bombing runs and missions to Bash'ir Landing have taken a toll on our mounts.

The aether rays that fly around Vortex Pinnacle, and the Crystal Spine to the northeast, look like they'd do just fine. You don't even have to bring them back here, though that would be nice. Just break and rope them, and we'll track them down later.

Think you can wrangle me up some?
