The best way to do this is to open a chat box and whisper yourself the sequence, using r g b y for the colors. Much easier than getting a paper and trying to read your own frantic writing.

The best way to do this for me was to pick up a white sheet of paper and put it on the screen, so I could see through it. Then I simply wrote the numbers above the corresponding crystal and voilà :P Easy.

Completing 5 (?) gives you a 30 min runspeed buff. Completing 8 gives the 2 hour runspeed buff. The event keeps going after 8. Does anyone know if the buff gets progressively better beyond 8?

It's 6 sequences for the initial buff.

There is a buff named "Apexis Enlightenment" which you can receive for 10 correct sequences, but it looks the same as the emanation buff. It probably has some higher-level quest implications.

Tip: Even if you click wrong and get zapped, you can still pick up the sequence where you left off and complete it successfully. Just bandage for a few ticks if you need a little safety margin with your health.

Btw - When you die from crystal , yoy dont' suffer from durability penalty. So good luck trying.

Interestingly enough, I was nearby a group when they completed the Q and I got the buff too. Another Q where you dont have to be in the group that completes!.

this quest is rather annoying for the people who have high latency (300ms-450ms+). a single lag spike or a second pause, what you see is 3-4 beams shoting all together. you end up with no clue about the order and kill yourself by guessing.

The 8 button buff is actually only 90 minutes, when the 10 presses gives you the 2hour buff, the game just rounds the 90minutes to 120 on the timer display.

While I downloaded Ogri'lazy, I found an easy method that doesn't require key bindings and the effort.

1. Stand in the middle of the X and move your camera view so that it's literally looking straight down. Zoom in so that it takes up much of the screen.
2. Align the cross so that each colour is aligned top, bottom, left and right.
3. Type /s as if you're going to say something then press num lock so you're ready to type numbers on the keypad

What you're going to do here is use the number key pad on your keyboard as if it represents the cross.

Look now at your keyboard and you'll see four arrows on numbers.
8 is UP
4 is LEFT
6 is RIGHT
2 is DOWN

4. Insert your crystal and type out the colours on the number keypad as they occur. You might not need it for the first few, but when it gets harder you don't even need to concentrate.
5. Watch and type on pad at the same time, pressing enter at the end of each sequence
6. Press the colours with mouse as they were typed out:

Typing away, if I had typed: 84662486
Then I could press the colours TOP, LEFT, RIGHT, RIGHT, BOTTOM, LEFT, TOP, RIGHT.

I hated this quest, but now it's very simple.

If you find yourself doing this quest with a buff "Apexis Emanations" on, for example from previous day, right click to dismiss it first or your buff duration won't get updated once you complete this quest.

Also, another warning: If you keep playing and pick up an Emanation buff on the quest before, it will not count to complete this one. Also, while you have the buff on, and you get the buff re-applied, it will STILL not complete. Click it off, and re-do it, then it counts as completed for you.

The task itself is not hard but unfortunately with anything less than a green latency bar you're pretty much screwed. I've wasted so many crystals trying to get past 6 steps simply because all it takes is one lag spike then you end up with 2 colors pinging at the same time... that throws you off then from there it's pretty much over.

Only advice I can give would be to make sure you have a very good and stable internet connection. Ogri'lazy is also a help as well.

Found it real easy to just align the 4 circles to N,S,E,W and just right the sequence number down on a piece of paper. Don't even have to look down at the paper until you finish. This was easier for me.

Just a note, if you're having a laggy night, don't attempt this. Its a very clever quest idea but if you hit a lag spike you'll more than likely blow the sequence.

Just a suggestion to avoid some frustration.

The 15% speed buff while on a netherdrake feels like you're going so fast you might go back in time.

Just a tip, Orgi'Lazy really helps, and, when your done with this quest, you can go on to do "Our Boy Wants To Be A Skyguard Ranger", which requires 10 crystal shards. You get 15 from this quest reward. This saves alot of time

This was a fairly easy quest. What I did was go to setup on Vent and test my sound and it would play back. So I would just call out the orders the colors came in so the order would play back.

There should be a big crystal and 4 small crystals surrounding it. Walk over to a small crystal and right click it. NOW WAIT! One of the colors should light up. Now remember which color lit up and when the crystal flashes with light then you have to right click on the color that was lit.

Now the next round is a little harder, 2 colors will light up now, wait for the flash and imput it.

It helps to write the colors down or type it in because they get really long

I didn't have a clue what to do no matter if I read the quest description or not. I asked a friend because he had done all those 3 quests that ogre gives you, He said its soloable which it is as I saw a group of 4 having their own button each, What I did was when the first flash was there (e.g) green I just typed in /s g for green. Then it got a bit trickier, I didn't bother about spaces I just wrote the first letters of the colour (e.g) grby. This quest isn't so tricky after you know what to do. And what I want to know is when I was trying it out to find out what to do at the end three colours flashed at the same time, when I pressed the 3 buttons it said It was wrong and zapped me... Anyone know an answer to this?

keep trying different relics until you find one that allows a higher simon sequence than 6(normal buff),for the emanations,you need one that allows 8 sequences(2 hour buff).

i had the same problem with receiving the 'same' buff,until i found the right relic that would go past the normal 6 sequence.

the hint to try many relic's not just one is in the quest description.
'As you progress in your ability to attune to the relics'

a bit cryptic but it is there.

Try completing these "simon" quests if you have kids, and half the time I DO complet it I don't get quest completion. There's ^&*!e here for hunters. If you're a hunter just declare war on these idiots.

I did a similar thing with macros:

Make the following 5x single line macros and assign them to buttons:
/script DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage("*** RED ***",1.0,0,0,10);

/script DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage("--------------- STOP ---------------");
As the sequence plays out, hit the corresponding button and a colored text message will appear in the chat window... When the sequence is done, repeat the sequence on the relic pad. Use the STOP macro to add a break line to distinguish where each sequence ended. Note the last parameter of the AddMessage command (10 here) is the time in seconds when the message will fade away. Also the extra '*' and spaces are optional, just a little more visible.

I'm beginning to wonder if this quest is just randomly buggy. Some days when I do it, works like a charm. Other days when I do it, zaps me repeatedly. I jot down r for red, b for blue, etc. I have no idea why I got zapped 5 times today, but I am sure not going to go back and just keep getting zapped. Too much waste of time if it doesn't work correctly.

With a recent situation I had with gold dissapearing after a trade and basically getting the finger from Bliz packaged up nicely with some trite expressions of how rational and polite they are and all the glitchy stuff that has been going on, the game is quickly becoming a big pain in the tuckus rather than a fun way to relax.

LMAO here's a mod that'll REALLY help you with this mission, it brings up symbols that represent the 4 lights you have to click and you click the buttons in the mod in the order of the lights that are lit up, and you just look at the order on the mod and click the lights based on what you clicked in the mod =), there's a better explanation on the mod's website

This is the quest that u have to play simon on the crystal like the ones around (26,68). If you are having troubles remembering the whole sequence try just typing it out. For instance, just face one way and assign keys to the 4 different directions (i just use w,a,d,s) 'w' for the one in front of me, 'a' to the one on the left, 'd' for the one on the right, and 's' for the one behind you. Type out the whole sequence like that and then just follow it when it has you repeat it.

For anyone that seems to have a hard time completing emanation after easily completing Vibrations:

After you reach a certain point, the Crystal starts to make some red pulses. I thought I made a mistake and that's why they show up - don't worry about them, you didn't do anything wrong! The only problem is, these pulsations somehow bug out the crystal's hitbox or something and you can't click on a button (instead, you start opening the crystal). The trick to overcome this problem is just to move around a little and ensure you can click the actual button (mouse cursor will not be cogwheel). Keep clicking the buttons in correct order and you will get emanated. Clicking the crystal does NOT count even if your cursor was over the button.

Don't fret over time - you have 11 seconds for each click, you'll be fine!

Is anyone having trouble with this quest where it just ends as if you didn't click on a color cluster? Every time I try to click on the first color cluster button is seems like I didn't click it, and it dings then shuts down.

Update: I just tried it with the 9.2 patch and it's now working! Finally I completed this.

For the Classic-TBC players: Most of this is a summary of details I found below.
(1) At patch 2.5.2, the reward for this is 9g 10s plus 15 apexis shards.

(2) Methods to complete this are below ad nauseam. I run windowed and notepad and numbers worked
for me. Choose whichever works for you. There is an addon at (Ogrila stone for dummies). Think it uses
the color method.

(3) Not sure how long you have between it finishing the sequence and your first click but you do have
11 seconds to make the next click in sequence. There is an 11 sec buff that shows up after each click.

(4) The main reason I'm writing is "the bug". I tried this for 10 minutes (latency 34 ms). On every attempt
at the place where it took 8 clicks, my mouse cursor would show an "open" gear and I could not click the
button. After reading posts well down near the bottom, someone said that, if this thing bugs out with a
gear, simply move your character slightly. That worked.

Here's all the info you need in classic:

After the 4th round is completed, the crystal will produce spell graphics. These graphics can cover the button for a second or two, if you start casting the "opening action" instead of clicking the button, just move your char a lil bit (I press both mouse buttons simultaneously).

The easiest way to remember the pattern is to look from the top. Assign a number to each button, I go top left(1), top right(2), bottom right(3), bottom left(4). Open your chat box. As each button lights up, type the corresponding number in chat. Look down at your chat and click the corresponding button, GG. Between each round just hit CTRL+A and backspace, text field will be clear in time for the next round.

I'm positive this awful quest was intentionally made buggy. Play the game, once the big blue animation splashes, after every time you click wait for a red splasn then click again. I wasn't able to move fast enough because the open animation is so short.

Edit: it definitely is intentional, the red splash is interactive, and it will happen every click. Just click, wait for it, watch the tooltip to change back, then click.
