I soloed this as a Priest (as Scryers) I just spammed Greater Heal and fought for aggro, once I succeeded in that I ran straight to the grphyon master and kept myself up.
The flying guys will multi shot you, thus hitting anything around you. Hitting the grphyon master spawns level 65 elite and 65 non-elite that will kill the attackers.

Soloed as a feral druid, all i did was hide, and he did it all. Its a simple... Just DON'T do the quest, it'll do itself.

Solo'd this as a moonkin, for ranged classes, you're going to want to stand on the steps and shoot from there. If you're a magic user like me run behind that pillar near the gryphon master when you go oom, hopefully you'll get a couple of the skybreakers to follow you and when they multishot, they'll aggro enranged wyvrens and gryphons to do your dirty work. Oh yeah, your new netherwhelp trinket helps too.

There is also a point to be noticed.
When ppl from diferent fractions (say one aldor and one scryer) if a person retrieves the quest, the other will be able to do it with his mate, like an escort quest. Don't worry if you are aldor and will deliver scryer medals, you'll deliver the scryer quest with no problems.

Yet what i'd like to know if it's possible to do the quest twice for each fraction. In other words, do the aldor quest, then go deliver and do the scryer quest after. If so, ppl will get double the rep, for a total of 1000 reputaion points. Can anyone confirm this pls?

How I do this, as an enhancement shaman, is just get naked and heal him when he gets low, pull aggro and die (hence getting naked), then rez and wait for him to get low health again.

I usually only have to heal him once or twice every time.

It seems time of defending is random. I failed 2 times defending for about 5-10 minutes, and than I completed it after 1 min. Tactic with hiding behind Pillar is ok, they will multishot and agro, flymaster. GL

solo'ed it as 70 shadow priest

the best way to do this quest is to deal damage on every mob you see, if you have low health / mana just run ooc and regain health / mana, go back and go on with killing the Dragonmaw guys, after around 8 minutes the quest will be completed

Bugged the first time I tried it, wouldn't let me complete the quest even though I had done what was required. So I abandoned it and tried again.

I soloed this pretty easily as a 0/5/46 restoration Shaman. Earthshield on myself, dropped Stonesking and Windwall totems, used an arcane resist trinket and my Alchemist's Stone w/ plenty of mana pots.

Don't bother healing the defenders, just keep the commander up. The fight lasted, oh, about 3 minutes it seemed. 500 rep in the bag.

pff...! Easy soloable for almost any class ( except poor melee). Just go in the house and eat / bandage / drink when you need and just grind the dudes down. The nps's will take care of the rest. Just tab-target the low hp ones and you are on your way to revered :)

As a Feral druid I decided to equip my healing equipment and try this out alone.

It went pretty much problem free and I sorta think they need to retune this quest, atleast it was very easy in the sense that it was rather limited how much my presence changed the outcome of the event.

I tossed around 3 Regrowths on the Commander and a few Rejuvenations on random archers, however it didn't seem like they needed the heal at all. I guess what made "us" win the fight was the fact that I took half the aggro and ran into the camp with it just healing myself. Yes, the Flight Master aggroed as well as his mounts but they just went out and straight back in and barely did some damage. A few minutes after running in and out of aggro, rehealing myself up etc., the quest ended without much harm or any feel of having done anything to change the outcome of the event.

As with the other ranged classes, soloing as a hunter was no problem at all. Feign death if you get too much aggro, otherwise just pick the targets that's being hit already to avoid pulling aggro straight away. Hawkeye allows you to stay abit back. :)

Just soloed this as a Ret Pally. I didn't do DPS, I healed. I threw on my best healing gear and just tossed a few onto Hobb to keep him up.

I stood near the flight master. If I got aggro, the multishot would bring in two BE casters, the Flight master himself and a couple of spawned wyverns. They destroyed anything that aggroed them.

Hobb never got below 80%. It took about 6 minutes.

I'm sure this is going to get a good nerf eventually such that you can't use the townfolk to help you fight, so take it will it lasts!

More than likely, they will have it where the multi-shot will not hit NPCs (other than hobb)

But thats if blizzard gives a crap about a daily quest that doesn't really hurt anyone...

This is so easy for any class that has some kind of heals. I am a feral druid, and just equipped my healing gear.. threw a couple heals on the commander to gain aggro. and ran to guards to engage them with multishot. Quest was completed in 3 minutes or so.

does this quest glitch out for anyone when you're trying to solo it? seems when i pull the fp guards they glitch out the enemy npcs and resets cdr hobb.

I'm kind of glad that they made a quest where you could heal to complete the quest. The majority of the quests are to kill something, which really sucks for healers.

I just did it for my first time, and I'm a holy paladin. I popped RF, and just Flash of Light Hobb and myself, got aggro, ran over to the flight master. The birds killed some of the flyers and ran back, I just repeated that. I don't think it took more than 2 minutes to complete.

Solod as a warlock:

Get SS, HS, Voidwalker ready.

Start, dot everything. Run to the flightmaster. DONT run directly, make a circuit, so the mobs dont get stuck in the wall, they need to have a clear path to the grypphon master. They will attack, and then die.

Used 3 bandages, 2 GS, Voidwalker Sacrifice 3 times and SS. Quest was done by then.

There are LOS issues about getting the flight master multi-shotted. If you stay behind the column near the flight master, the attackers won't be able to see and hit you with any means, and you can easily lose aggro of them because of the battle going on and everyone's attacking them. Use a high threat spell and wait for a few arrows to hit you (and pray one of them is not an aimed shot) then run to the flight master. The multi-shot has a high radius that will usually hit the two guards and the flight master with you if you stay in the middle of them, thus aggroing all three of them same time, picking up an easy fight.

I just "solo'd" this as a sac and S&F lock. I didn't use the flight master trick because, for the life of me, I couldnt get the damn dragonmaw to multishot me, lol. Sacrificed the VW for the health regen and just stood back and chucked a shadowbolt every once in awhile. I did use my HS but, that was all. Even left combat a couple times and it still completed.

Soloable as an affliction warlock using flight master trick. Just put siphon life on everything, have healthstones and a voidwalker ready to sac for the shield.

Easily soloed as a restoration shaman. Any gear could do it I guess but I dont even find it challenging. I got full t4 and other various stuff, I guess it helps a bit. But i think any resto shammy can do it. Just keep Healing Stream Totem & earthshield up on yourself while chainhealing the NPC's and you will complete the Q within 3-5 mins or whatever it is, very easy :) U may have to pop one super mana pot and one mana-tide tho, but its worth the effort :)

You can also run behind one of the Scryer buildings to get out of combat and eat/drink. I think as long as the defenders don't die and you don't go too far away, you won't fail the quest. I used this trick to solo the quest as a mage.

Soloing this quest still works as of Patch 2.3. Not sure if Blizzard is planning on "fixing" this or not.

Solo-ed as marks hunter. Kinda easy when you kill each mob with 1.3k+ crits each hit not including arcane and multi-shots. Feigned Death when things got a bit nasty, bandaged and drank and ate. The mobs will be focused on you so the scryers you're helping won't die. Just let out what you have.

I've heard many people tell me not to even try to solo this as a rogue, but I was able to do it without too much difficulty. A couple of tips:

1 - Stay stealthed at the start to allow the first wave to aggro onto guards.
2 - When possible, attack mobs that are at lower health to help get them out of the way and keep you from having aggro.
3 - Vanish will work to get you out of combat to eat or bandage. You can do either of these things fairly close to the fight (I did it behind the pillar by the flight master) without getting back into combat.
4 - If you draw too much aggro (not sure how it works, but a good amount of the new spawns will aggro you while you're fighting) you can always just run right up the middle of base. I saved sprint for this, and by the time I got to the top level I dropped combat. Remember that these guys can aimed shot you for 2k or so, so if you're going to run away, do it with a bit more HP.

I have PvP gear, nothing overly special but the HP/resil may have helped me stay alive a bit longer. Other than that, doesn't seem to be much trick to it.

Really easy to solo, probadly as any class.
Just aggro some of them, run to base (best to near elites), wait for multishot, and wait :)

What I usually do is that I first take agro from all of them with healing as im elemental shaman. Then I go nearby the guards, pack by pack and let them multishot on them. So guards will kill them.

I just go all out and attack the mobs. If you die, you die. The repair bill is an inconvenience, but dying doesn't fail you by any means. As has been said, if you're doing this quest, you're probably doing it for the reputation above all else, and 500 reputation is worth the gear death to me.

I died twice doing this quest, and while running back to my corpse the second time, i was able to get the (complete) message . It doesnt matter if you die. The graveyard is right there, so like, yeah.

Just...do it. lol.

The flight master only works like once because you have to keep doing it, and honestly, thats more of a hassle than actually just going all out and attacking. Have some Heavy Netherweave Bandages on hand, and a mana potion or two (That said, you use mana as your main thing and you dont have melee backup that does a decent amount of damage) and you'll be fine not to die, but even if you do..it doesnt matter.

Soloed this very easy as a warlock. Respecced affliction to do netherwing quests faster and easier and i did this quest very easy without the gryphon master trick. Just standed at the same place all the time throwing curses and draining life. Not hard at all :)

Soloing this as a Shadow Preist is a peice of cake.

Step 1: Start the event

Step Two: buff, Including shield

Step three: Dot 3-6 of them

Step Four: Keep sheild up

Step Five: Run behind pillar when health is low

Step Six: Use shadow Feind when Needed.

STep Seven: Rinse and repeat

Should you die...merely run to your body...

I actually completed this quest while I was dead. But I was standing almostly directly ontop of Commander hobbs.

911 Shadow dmg, 8300 hps, 175/55 Mp5 13/0/48

Tip: Fade doesn't work on them, Spreists are Encouraged to use VT on a few of them in the begining, you *will* run out of mana (I have almost 9000)

This quest is fairly easy to solo as a prot warrior, you should be ablt to taunt and thunderclap a lot iof them and then run to the gryphon master, they multi shotted me all the time and the gryphon master downed them really easy, i was even sometimes able to bandage and leave combat a few times when my health was low as the npc got all the aggro.
The only problem I found with the flight master bug is they kill only the one who multi shotted them sadly rather than the ones that are aggroed on me. This wasnt a big problem tho.
Managed to complete the qust easy using only 2 bandages.

My question is, what exactly is it you have to do in order to defeat the Dragonmaw? Several times this quest has failed for me with Commander Hobb still alive and with ~30% health. So apparently there's more to it than just keeping Hobb alive; this is obviously a timed quest, so do you have to kill a certain number of Dragonmaw or do a certain amount of damage during the time allotted, or might this actually be a bug?

I was able to solo this pretty easily as a hunter.

FD occassionally to bandage and heal your pet.

I cycled through the mobs putting a serpent sting on each one and doing other low aggro moves. I also used my netherwing trinket about 3/4 of the way through the fight.

This is soloable.. at least I was able to as a holy pally.. Just keep yourself healed as well as the defenders and they should do the job of killing the invaders.

This strategy works as of patch 2.1.2. Turn on friendly health bars and toss renews on any defenders near half health or so. When you pull aggro, shield and run inside the building and heal to full -- get inside fast, as their aimed shots hit for 2.5k+ on cloth, and you'll be peppered by 250-300 normal shots as well. When you come back out, stand next to the wind rider master and let their multi shots aggro him; the wind master guardians will spawn, which will work them over.

Just keep repeating the process of renewing, running inside to heal up, then coming back out and letting them aggro the wind master until the event completes. If you die, the graveyard is right nearby, but you don't want to die more than a couple times or your rez timer will keep you out too long, causing the defenders to die and failing the event.

I've soloed it twice as a mage.

Hang out near the flight master and guards, and the dragons' multishots will aggro the NPCs at the base, which will then kick their asses. You might die, but if you just sit there and heal yourself, it should be an easy fight.

Easy solo as a lock, just seed about 4, then run in the building and bandage, by that time the next group is up, and you have no aggro. Rinse, repeat. Used a HS just to be safe.

Earth shield, heal yourself, toss a chain into the group every now and again and then run to the wind rider. As mentioned before the multishot is enough to agro the guy and easily complete the quest

Assist Commander Hobb and the Scryers in defending the Sanctum of the Stars. Once all of the Dragonmaw forces have been defeated, return to Overlord Mor'ghor at Dragonmaw Base Camp with the Scryer Medals.

Take these Scryer medals. Mor'ghor will need proof of "victory" once this is over. He will recognize them as coming from the corpses of fallen Scryer soldiers.

Now all that remains is to use the signal flare to alert the Dragonmaw raiders. We will crush them when you are ready. Just give me the word.
