This was a pretty easy quest for my 30 hunter. Stated coords are correct and you'll run into vile fangs outside the cave. There's 2 tight groups around fires that you'll probably want to avoid unless your group can handle aggroing 5 or 6 mobs but if you're solo like I was, there's others that are spaced nicely for single pulling. The cave is small but is where the tainted ones are located and they're also nicely spaced. The most I ever aggro'd at a time in the cave was two, which was no problem for my hunter to manage. Also found an iron node in the cave but it's a small cave and that was the only node I found.

Watch out if you're a Frost Mage, these guys have high Frost resistance. Other than that, you'll get done with the Vial Fangs before you even get into the cave.

At around 58.80 there is an entrance to a small ravine that leads up to the back of the cave. Mobs are a bit more spread out and it's much easier to solo. There's also a few Tainted One's there as well that are easier to solo than those in the cave.

Tip: don't die in the tunnel/cave. The ones in there have a very fast respawn rate and by the time you get back it will be filled with mobs again and you will have to die like 5 times to get out of there.

For skinners this is a great area to grind, farm, & quest. At lower levels (high 20s) you can sit on the bluff near the cave entrance and pull them one at a time. If you have bad pull (i.e. Gutspill) you can run back up the hill (check out your escape route first). Watch for chests in the two grouped areas outside the cave -- they show up fairly regularly and can be farmed as you gain levels. Once you can handle two at a time, the first group immediately outside the cave can be easily farmed. The one near the fire you have to be able to take on 3-4 at a time.

Green drop rate is not too bad, and I've gotten at least two blues after an hour or so. If you're on a pvp server it's also out of the way of the most popular Horde ganking routes. Once you are well into your 30s you can continuously farm this and the rotting orchard next door with almost no down time and be rolling in skins. I agree with the comment about the second cave area being a gem as well.

Now, nobody on Darrowmere read this so I can continue to have the place to myself :-)

These are in the cave. Soloed them as 27 warlock. Just place your pet high up on the hill beside the cave, wait til the named walks into the cave, and single pull them high up on the hill (or You'll get adds) IF you get adds, or things looks bad, just run towards the Tranquility Garden, they give up the chase quickly. Just time the named, and you can go into the cave to pull more out, if you dont wanna wait for the long respawn.

This does give good exp. I did this as a 27 hunter and when I turned in the quest I got 1950 exp, and then he'll ask you to give something to the guy who is behind him, and that part gives you a pick of a so so item, but also 3150 exp.

So that put me one bar from 28; I killed some wolves and leveled.

I basically picked off the tainted ones from the hill next to tranquil gardens. It is a pain because they don't spawn often,but inbetween times I picked off the other ones at the end
of the yard.
Or you could go back to tranquil gardens and
pick off the skellies.

Died 3 times- and I did use some potions.
So, doable for a 27 hunter.

edit: one thing that helped me with adds, I would set an ice trap and if 2 came, I was able to run while they (or one) was stuck in the block.

I just did this today as a level 28 pally...got killed on the hill outside by three the first attempt to pull, then worked my way around picking them off one by one..there is a chest on the hill to the right facing the cave and a barrel to the left in left hand group. Used alot of mana...had to take time out during the respawn inside the cave for mana restoration. I took on a 32 and a 31 at the same time and did ok and then 3 30 levels at once...just careful with the mana during the melee, not panicking and running, and managing your mana is the key. Respawn is relatively fast in the cave...will probably have to fight your way back out. Once outside...just skirted to the right and avoided the respawn outside.

The tainted ones are in the cave. A lvl 29 warrior can do this if you don't mind dying a couple of times.

there was no boss, and there was only 7 of them in the cave so i have to wait for respawn.. like 20 vile fangs outside cave tho

The note above is true. I am a level 30 hunter and I parked my pet up on the hill then pulled them out of the cave one by one. That worked until they were too far in to pull out. Then I just called my pet and we eliminated the last two.

ummmmm yea.. weird thing happened.... been fightin the vile fangs and pullin out taintd ones when a camp full of them rushed me. no word of a lie. i counted 14 vilefangs outside the cave all packed together,,. they just all spawned at once and rushed at me lol.

If you go the the right side of the opening to the cave (mine), you can pick off the ones around and by the opening, I did the with my pet lvl 31. When we got to the cave, just picked them of one by one, to the end and then looted and skinned on the way out. Got all in one trip.
Taking out the ones by the wagon were trickyer, died 2 times but got all 4 by the wagon, got the chest and the melon barrel, rest never bothered me. Was worth it. :-)

I tried doing this with my 28 hunter the vile fangs were no prob but then the Tainted ones were a HUGE problem i lured 1 out then killed him i lured one at a time out and i did that 3 times then came gutspill (lvl 32) killed me AND my pet im still working on it as u read this

ok, all easy solo at lvl 32.... BUT: a lvl 66 came and killed all the vile ones (the ones tht spawn outside at terribly slow rates) so he could grind skinning. so i was there waiting 15 mins for my LAST vile one kill. >:O

the ones in the cave gang up on u.... 2 at a time, and the 2 at the end of cave u can pull individually.

note: as i said b4 the ones outside spawn slowly, hope this helps! :D

How do u turn cords on? I don't have them on on my acc. or char or whatever, never needed them but I still want to know how to turn them on... I had them on on my rouge on a differnt acc. awhile back... but yeah.. idk how to turn 'em on.

I haven't done this quest yet, but I think its in my quest log, so now that I know where it is I'll be able to do it... >.>

Shadow form = shadow priest, you dont get shadow form till level 40 so at level 40 it would be easy as hell for you!

Level 27 lock and did this tonight without to much trouble if you use some comon sense like others have done and pull 1 at a time, someone also mentioned the respawn outside the cave, be VERY carefull with this as they will and do rush you, I think the respawn was about 8-10 mins.

I completed this quest as a solo level 28 - 29 night elf hunter. However I did it slightly different than all the others since I was doing it on my own. I never had to go into the caves or risk being swarmed

First I sniped at the Vile Fangs from up in the hills that surrounded their encampment. I started on the east side, pulled off the Vile Fangs one by one, making sure I also skinned them since I am a leatherworker. (They give nice leather that I have been able to sell at the auctions for a lot of money.)

I was able to kill all the Vile Fangs that I needed this way without any trouble as a level 28 hunter. In fact it helped me to level to 29.

Then I just happened to find a narrow ravine that leads into the camp on the west side (just east of the Yorgen farm). (There is a tin vein nearby for any miners.)

I discovered that two of the Tainted Ones will hang out near where the ravine empties into the camp. These were usually level 30 so I could pull them off one by one using my Arcane shot and Serpent Sting. Then my cat and I could finish them off without being attacked by the rest of the group.

I killed the two of them. Then I went off to the Rotten Orchard to kill Nightbane Dark Runners for the leather and to have something productive to do while the Tainted Ones repop'd.

I was able to finish this quest on my own using this strategy. And I never had to go into that cave !

Soloed with my Level 27 Warrior Dident die once, only used about 14 "Wild Hog Shanks" and no potions.

Lvl 29 warrior, main. Died three times. If you stay in corridor and cant take on three or pulkl, wait for respawns.(Tainted ones I mean). Died twice and completed it. 74.74 ccords.

I completed this as a lvl33 Druid.I know its a little higher then the npc's level, but hey.I gained 2 levels from it.

Theres a bunch of vile fangs outside.At least 12.
Inside the cave,there should be exactly 8 or a bit more.
If theres lower then 8,just wait.It means someone had just been in there.

the exp for this one isnt that great, i got 1900xp whereas i had been doing quests in strangle thorn vale all week and getting 4000 to 8000 xp from them, its just about getting your level right if you go to north stranglethorn vale (nessingwary's expedition) when you are about level 30 then you can mad xp , have fun guys

Ok, I just finished this solo as a lvl 27 hunter. It's not easy despite what anyone says. I and my pet both died a couple of times when pulls brought too many. The mobs are lvl 30,31 except for Gutspill who's 32. You have to kill Gutspill to get to the others because he's right in the doorway. The Vile Fang's are easy to pick off one at a time as you approach the cave. You can sit on the hill to the left of the cave entrance and pick off a few Tainted Ones but you have to go in the cave to get most of them. As a hunter I could send in my pig with Eye of the Beast to draw them out. They are close so sometimes you get more than one. Warlocks could probably do the same with Eye of Kilrogg. The coords of 73,75 are right for the Tainted Ones but that is actually in the cave. I got 3150 exp. for the last quest. The last quest after this requires no fighting just delivering a note. Some not too shabby rewards also.

Likely one of the easiest quests I've done in a long time. They are rather spread out so you don't need to take too much care in pulling, just watch out for the camp of 4.

The cave is very shallow sadly, which means that you will likely have to wait for a few to respawn. Especially if there are others waiting on the same thing.

I completed this quest easily on my 29 shadow priest. Just go south of Darkshire and you will find the camps. The Tainted One are in the cave south of the camps.

Did this on my 28 shadow priest. Died a couple of times in the cave, mostly because there is a lvl 32 named mob, Gutspill, who gangs with a couple of the other Tainted Ones. He walks to the cave entrance, and can be pulled, but he also respawns quickly, inside the cave, so be careful.

What happened? I handed in the quest to Calor in Duskwood, but when i accepted the next quest (that i should go collect the reward) I only received the system-message: You don't meet the requirements for that quest
Now there isn't even a silver "!" above his head.

I'm level 28 when this happened.

What the heck is with this quest? The Tainted Ones respawned at a decent rate, but once all of the Viles were wiped out they took an eternity to respawn. The Tainted respawned 5-6 times before I the Vile did.

Did this quest with my level 26 shammy, didn't die but I had to pull the first two spawns only (one at a time) of the Tainted One from the cave opening and heal and mana up after each one

This Quest is easy! You just have to look after the Nightbane Vile Fangs and Nightbane Tainted One, cause i killed the wrong ones! ^^

I dont know if the patches tweaked the rate or anything, but as of 12/07/06 , i went to the rotting orchard and snuck around the back to the cave pathway , and i started killing the ones outside the cave by myself... by the time i had finished off the first string, they had all respawned, and i never had to enter tha cave at all to finish the quest.

Edit - Thought it might be nice for me to add... I was a lvl 30 priest when i did this quest solo.

Vile Fangs are located at about 71, 69. If you go in a little deeper at 73, 75 you'll see a tunnel that harbors the Tainted Ones. Start typing things that people actually need information on instead of I'm level 29 doing this solo! omg...

solo'd this as a lvl 28 shad spec newbie priest. I died once when i pull gutwossname and an tainted one at the same time. Returned, pull Gutthingie on his own, fairly easy, and then snuck in and pulled the tainted out one at a time. Good advice from other posters about sitting to the left of the mine (if you're looking at the entrance) and about keeping the area clear of vile fangs.

FYI it's directly south of the zone graveyard so very easy to find.

1900 for completing the Q and then another 3150 exp for completing the following one..woot!

Update. Gutspill, the lvl 32 spawns in the centre of the cave, he spawned on me while I fought 2 other mobs :(

lvl 30 hunter

w the 18 kills for around 4000exp and the 3200exp for turn in a big quest.

the only hard part for me was the tainted ones (loc 71.73)
they didnt come out of the cave much. and there were too many to go into the cave solo.

so i got on the hill to the left of the cave and went eyes of beast in the pet into the cave and pulled them out one by one where i could start shooting. easy after that. just keep the area free around you from the other mobs so u dont get jumped. also there is one lvl 32 mov inside that pulls with the tainted one once in a while. that can be close work.

for miners there is a good ore deposit to the left of the cave on the hill.

So, as everyone has noted, you can find them in Roland's Doom. There is another location that I thought was a bit easier since there's more room to maneuver. There's a path starting at 58.4, 80.3, at the southern edge of the zone southeast of the Rotting Orchard. On the path and at the top, I founf exactly eight of each type. I was mostly able to single pull, but I did accidentally pull three one time.

Terrible respawn rate on Vile Fangs. I have been sitting here for ten minutes and not even one. Tainted Ones almost instant respawn.
