Arnak is at the top of the cliff just north of Darkcloud Pinnacle. The ramp up to Darkcloud is by the fork in the road south of the Great Lift. It is marked by a totem pole east of the road. Arnak himself is a pretty straightforward kill. The nearby Grimtotem guards can all be pulled individually, with care.

Once Arank is down, you can start the Free at Last escort quest (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=4904).

He's a level 29(Not elite), found at 39,28.
He's up on the cliffsides, so you've got to go up through the Darkcloud Pinnacle(Ramp up is around 31,32)

My level 26 Shaman did it with another level 28 Shaman easily. I healed and he tanked. when you get to the part were you have to go right to get to a little village of the Grimtotems you just go forward, and you will end up in a little camp with the Boss, he is pretty simple with 2 or more people but it is a challenge going solo. If you are going to go solo then try to slow him down somehow. Their will be 2 people rushing you, including the boss so try slowing one down, while killing the other one. At around level 32 you can solo it. Then do the quest that lady in the camp gives you. Its fairly simple with at least 1 more person, but if your alone just try singleing out the enemies, and killing them. Don't let the woman die either. Then you can return to town and have a nice xp bonus .

Solo'ed it with 28 'lock, not too bad with the Succubus doing Seduction on the mob pairs. The escort quest you get after killing Arnak is harder, as the NPC pulls loads of mobs. Finished it but health got low at some points. Make sure you've got some potions or healthstones handy :)

Has an interesting knockback that makes the fight more like something out of WWF than WoW. He likes to knock you up in the air and then run underneath you and hit you from behind. Doesn't stun you so you can easily turn back towards him, but I suppose you should be careful if you choose to fight him near the edge of the cliff.

You'll probably want to kill all the Taurens around Arnak so you don't pull adds. After you kill Arnak, you can get an escort quest, then when you finish the escort and Arnak quest. More xps are served! I have done both quests with my Tauren Druid and Blood Elf Paladin. Happy Hunting!!!!

To save yourself a few trips to Darkcloud Pinnacle, I recommend doing the following quests at the same time as this one.

Grimtotem Spying - chain starting with Message to Freewind Post
Arikara - chain beginning with Alien Egg
Free at Last - escort near Arnak Grimtotem

Just creep up along the steep mountain side and then behind the tent - you can sneak in fast enough to get the mission to free her and she'll help you fight your way out. You get Arnak's hoof in the process plus double mission points for freeing the captive.

These directions are terrible. Co-ordinantes don't do a lot of good to ppl who don't have cosmos now do they. The entrance to get up on top of the pinnicals is following the road the south of the great lift. It's on the north-west side of the biggest one thats surrounded by 4 other little pinnacles, and has a little picture of house on it when you look at the map. The path up is marked by a big totem.

The 31,37 location is where you go up the hill. It never changed.. The locations provided on the eighth post were correct.

I went up the spiral path located off the road to the Great Lift and made my way north along the rope bridges until I got to the north cliff face of Thousand Needles. This is the same cliff face that the Great Lift is on.

Facing the cliff from the last rope bridge that leads to it, to the right are Razorfen mobs, to the left Grimtotem Tauren. Go left.

Arnak is located among the Tauren, along with that Lokita (sp?) female Tauren that offers the escort quest. He has a knockback effect so don't get too close to the edge. Heh.

Arnak Grimtotem is not on a needle, he is on the mountain cliff village, just near the Razorfen Downs domain entrance.

But you have to climb up and walk through the Grimtotem needles to reach him.

As you are running along the road from the great lift to freewind you will see a little lake (on the map.) Right next to it is a platform with a house on it. On the road before the platform is a big totem, (coords are 31 36, the totem is blue) right next to a path leading up the hill. Go up, kill the first set of mobs on the platform. Go to the next platform and kill the mobs. There is an option to go right or left. Right heads to the big platform with the house on it - do not go that way! Instead, go left which heads back towards the wall of 1k Needles and there will be a little ledge. You can either go left or right - Right leads you to razorfen dudes, level 33+ and left leads you to Arnak. There are a couple of mobs up there, including Arnak, and if you're careful you can pull them singly. Just break LOS to get the casters to follow you away from the adds. Then hit up the horde chick for the escort quest.

This quest isn't hard, but the escort quest back is rather difficult for straight melee classes - you have to be able to CC several mobs at once. On one platform there were 5 different mobs attacking us - the 3 regular respawns and the 2 added spawns from the quest. I would recommend help for those classes which can't do the CC themselves (or heal themselves) or for lower levels, as its a pain to do if you die in the middle, the respawns are kinda quick.

Rogues: you can sneak to the side of the tent behind the escort mob and pull Arnak by himself from there (carefully).
Keep your back to the cliff.

I went south from the lift and went up the ramp. I also had to cross a few bridges as well. I took all the bridges till it came to a spot where it split off into a couple different directions. Then i took the left bridges till i reached a little camp on one of the mountain sides. The mob was there with a few adds. However i still managed to kill em rather easily with my 28 undead war.

31,37 Go up the cliff path near the totem pole with antlars stickingout the side! Follow the path up until you get to the mountain top with 3 bridges coming off of it. Take the left hand bridge and head towards the cliff side with the 2 blue totem poles the guy you want is a tauren dressed in red armor! Best of luck!

I noted that hidden character that you were talking about. I had another player with me (24 Shaman). We got to the point with arnak. I made them agro my pet both my friend and i were doing well until that other character showed up. I dismissed my pet and we tried to get away, killed my friend then me with ease as im ranged and stood no chance mele with him. Im guessing i will have to level before i can accomplish this?

Clear the enemies around Arnak....

Now here is the tricky part, when you've cleared most of the enemies, Arnak will probably have one Geomancer next to him.
You'll want to have flametongue and lightning shield up.
Charge them (Be careful of the last guy in the tent)
Drop a searing, healing stream, and stoneclaw totems, Arnak will agro the stoneclaw, while you kill the geomancer, get the geomancer down FAST, then heal up, and kill Arnak, and, don't stand too close to the cliffside, Arnak occasionally does an attack that launches you up into the air, so be careful.
Don't forget to grab the Escort, :-)

From the great lift, go south until you come to the sign post.

look to your left and you will see a totem pole, this is the start if the ramp to go up.

To reach Arnak, travel south of the Great Life until you find the ramp leading up to the Grimtotem Compound. Go up that and follow the bridges leading back towards the Barrens cliff. Soon as you get back on that cliff, you'll see him.
He also has a kidnapped NPC there who will give you an escort quest.

Not that hard since I pulled them individually with an arrow then had pet tank them. Plus I'm alright taking 3 mobs at once with the pet.

I found Arnak at 38,26 once on the top of pinnicle could, take the left most bridge, then go across to the north wall of Thousand needles, toward the left was a small cave (empty) and 5 grimtotems, One was Arnak.

I tried this as a level 30 undead priest. I was able to clear the guys on the other needle-tops and on the bridges (you have several different landings on which to fight before getting to the one with Arnak and the escort quest). But once I got to the landing with Arnak, I had a lot of trouble. I pulled one by one everyone I saw except for Arnak and the geomancer noted above, and then went for Arnak. Maybe I should have gone for the geomancer first. In any case, there was a hidden stomper or bandit (not sure which), so I had 3 on me at once. With all the levitations, it was impossible to keep the shield up, and also impossible to cast any spells. Occasional apparently means every 2 seconds or so. I was up in the air more than I was down on the ground. I died pretty fast.

I will try again, trying to pull just the geomancer first. I honestly don't know where that other stomper/bandit came from. I was pretty sure I had gotten rid of everyone except for Arnak and the geomancer. So, that's something to look out for.

While this quest is readily available, there are two more quests that happen at Darkcloud Pinnacle, so you can do them all together:

Arikara from Alien Egg
