I found him by the west-entrance to the tunnels, but it seems he patrols up from that area and towards something to the east, probably the east-entrance to the tunnels (I pulled him before I saw where he went, though). I don't think he enters any caves. Killed him as a lvl 43 hunter with no problems. He seems to have a poisonous aura-thingy, but I kited him around the place so I didn't notice it doing anything.

I found him in between the east and west tunnel entrances. i cleared both sets of tunnels and was unable to find him. when i came out of the east tunnel he was headed from the west. It is possible he comes out of the west tunnel. the two tunnel systems do not connect so he could not do a loop underground.

If you haven't done the Deadmire quest from Melor Stonehoof in Thunder Bluff (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=1205) then this won't be available.

Found him after 5 minutes killing mobs in the meanwhile for the carapaces at 75,60. I suggest u bring some good potions with, i personally had to use it as shaman. The poison aura does no damage at all, i think it's just for the looks or something, but he uses a venom sting often wich is an instant spell and does around 150 damage and poisons you for 40 seconds and damages u every 5 seconds for 11-12 damage. Even if u have the poison on you, he will continue to cast venom sting on you.

After completing all the Woodpaw quests, I was able to get Zukk'ash Infestation, but not this quest.

I flew to Dustwallow Marsh, turned in Tabetha's Task (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=2861), came right back, and the Stinglasher quest was now available. Strange, but whatever.

I did woodpaw and stinglasher and zukk'ash were immediately available. I did not have to turn in tabetha's tasks, nor do I even have it.

For some twisted reason, this quest and Tabetha's Task are mutually exclusive. It doesn't matter if you turn in the Tabetha's or abandon it, you just can't have that one if you want to pick up this one. Weird, but whatever.

OH MY GOD... i was searching for like 50 mins!! no stinglasher.. got into wow head and saw ur comments and suddnetly without warning i get on wow and i see me dead by stinglasher.. owned it after WITH PLEASURE. As a 43 sahmmy. really eSAy Hahaha Owned it so hard I loved it!. Poison cleasing totem is the way to win. !! DIE stinglasher

After clearing about in the western hole i found him going down the ramp there, killed. Not to hard, solo with lvl 49 Mage.
He looks kinda like the other ones except hes bigger and has some sort of poisionous (greenish) aura around him.

On a nother note: This quest and the other one you do there has an intresting rep bonus on turn in. It will say "Your reputation with the Horde has increasse by 350" =D

cleared both tunnels but couldn't find him, read here that he might exit the west entrance. so I sat and waited for about ten minutes, and then he showed up on his way out of the western entrance. Easy kill though, he's just an average lvl 47 foe.

I definitely recommend camping a tunnel entrance for him. I ran about trying to find him as I killed mobs for 15 or 20 minutes with no success. i finally waited at the west entrance and killed respawns, and he wandered up after just a couple of minutes.

found him at 74,62. sol'ed as a lvl 45 hunter was extremely easy and pet only lost about 200hp :P

The easiest way to find him, spam /target stinglasher meanwhile you're killing the other insects for their carapace. (I just wrote a macro for that.)
I soloed him as a lvl 43 arms warrior. I prepaired for a tough fight, so I used everything i got (Death Wish, Retailation but no pots, or food) and killed him surprisingly easy. Haven't left the half of my hp. So no worries. It's not as hard as someone mentioned here before.

I was lucky enough to get him coming out of the top of the hive. he also dropped a zukk'ash carapace for the "Zukk'ash infestation" quest.

The Woodpaw quest chain is the pre-requisite for this quest and Zukk'ash Infestation. Note that the Stinglasher quest can NOT be accepted if you have Tabetha's Task in your quest log (either deliver the quest first or abandon it).

If he's not at the spiral place, look to the east, there's another hive there. Stinglasher flies between these two lairs.

just completed as 46 mage, found him at 75,60...very easy quest

he patrols between the big vagina-looking cave and the spiral cave. he has a big cloud of gas around him, and he has about 3000 health whereas the normal wasps have about 2000 - 2500 health. he hits harder than the rest and has a really annoying sting. then again i did this as a lvl 46 rogue and any poison sucks when you try and stealth Q_Q

He found me at the top of the entrance to the hole in the ground.

You can find a Stinglasher at 78,62 or 74,64. They portal so you may have to wait for them. only level 47 so it was eeasy for my 44 mage.

I too was having issues obtaining this quest from Hadoken Swiftrider. I had completed the Zukk'ash Infestation quest in the series and all of the Woodpaw quests including the battle plans but still no Stinglasher quest was offered. I even opened a trouble ticket with WoW GM. I was told that everything was working fine on their end and that while he could offer no in-game clues, perhaps I had mised a quest afterall. So, even though it made no sense, going on earlier post, I completed Deadmire quest in Dustwallow (obtained from Hunter Rise in TB), and voila, I was then able to get the Stinglasher quest. Hope this helps.

i went into the cave at 76,60. went inside to kill the bugs. when i start heading out stingslasher was right at the entrance. i guess i was lucky. level 45 orc warrior fury spec. took him easily

alright, so i was experiencing the same problem.

did the knoll quests, nothing.

did the dreadmire quest in dustwallow, nothing.

did most the feralas quests, nothing.

but, when i obtained 'tabetha's task' and went to speak with her, which she then gave me the second part (in ZF), and returned to majoche, it was available to me!

I finished the gnoll quests and didn't have this available.

I still had Tabitha's Task in my quest log. As soon as I dropped that quest, I was able to get Stinglasher.

You don't need to complete Tabitha's Task to get this quest...you just can't have it in your log, apparently.

Heya guys. just did this quest with a 45 warlock. it was pretty simple. stinglasher is a lvl 47 non elite and if you do the side quest to et the 20 carpaces it makes this a very handy quest. pretty fun too.

Hes not to hard to kill either, solo'd as lvl 43 shammy with kinda bad weps (enhancement)

He disarms, stun and poisons that stack.

He's a lvl 47 non-elite wasp-looking thing.
I soloed on a 45 disc priest with little trouble. Found it was easiest to kill workers in between the two areas he visits and then grab him as he's looping between the two.

And if you're not done with the other quest that takes you to the same area..., he'll drop one of the quest items.

I was in the tunnel farming carapace, i was fighting
a worker, then got aggro by a bee.
I killed it as easy as other bee, but since it was an add i used Bestial Wrath, and then when i loot it, i saw it was the boss.
Frankly i didn't see the poison aura.
Hunter 45 at the moment.

found him near the cave entrance at 75, 60. was quite easy for a 52 Warrior. His aura poisons you, he also "lashes" so be prepared to spend some time on your back

I was reading this post looking for a clue to find Mr. Stinglasher. I was gettin frustrated! then i decide to ende the Zukk'ash carappaces quest and maximize the wow window. What happens?

Did this solo with a 43 feral druid, had to pop up 2 times fromn cat form to heal up and curse poison.

Soloed as 44 shadow priest. He caught me by surprise reading this quest. Didn't have to heal/potion/bandage once. MB, SW:P, MF, MF, MB, MF MF etc. Died fairly easily, even though it was an orange mob (level 47).

spawns at the mouth of the underground lair co-ordinates are good. only lvl 47. killed easy by 51 hunter. might have to wait a bit.

1. Complete the Woodpaw quests.
2. Check your quest log for "Tabetha's Task" Should be under Zul'Farrak
You must either turn this quest in, or abandon it. Because Stinglasher and this
quest conflict for some reason, and you wont be able to acquire Stinglasher.

hes not in the 3 story cave.. Looked in and out of that thing for about 45 min, walked out and down to the other cave, found him right away.

Soloed with a 44 Hunter, pretty easy. I'm a BM hunter, I just popped all my CD's and he was down within seconds. Migrates between the caves at 75,60, just south of the gnoll camps

He seems to go back and forth from one cave to the other. I say this because he killed me at the big hole. I was on my way out already almost dead and he was on his way in coming down the circular ramp. The second time around I exited the big hole just in time to see him flying into the little hole. I had a hard time catching up to him. When I finally did he was around another level 45 or 47 <I forget> elite. A grey looking wasp. So I am fairly certain he flies back and forth from the two holes. Therefore if you stand at the edge of no mans land you can not miss him. Or her. Not sure how to tell a bugs gender. Anyways. If you are still having problems the thing to do is read this page. Read all the posts about Stinglasher attacking people while they were reading this and he will sneak up on you and commence putting the smack down on your candy ___.

I was inside the cave looking for him, then on my way out to check this site to see where he was, I found him at the mouth of the cave. As a lvl 45 priest, I had no problem with him. Didn't notice any poison aura, and did not have to come out of Shadowform to heal.

On a side note, does anyone else hate fighting buglike creatures. It make sme feel all itchy.

I did the feralas quests on same order as my pal did.

After finishing Battle Plans quest, my friend could get the Stinglasher quest, but i couldnt. Went to TB as someone suggested, picked up Deadmire quest from hunter rise and went to complete it (my friend hadn't done it either, still he got the Stinglasher quest)
I got his tooth, and BEFORE handing it in to TB i went to Feralas and picked up Stinglasher quest without any trouble.

This quest is seriously bugged.

Combine both of these to save some time. Previous post co'ords are good - just behind the Gnolls. Good spacing - easy pulls. Should take 10-15mins max. For my lev 47 Hunter I got 3900xp for Zukk'ash Infestation and 4200xp for Stinglasher. Drops are junk so don't get your hopes up. Good luck!

Went towards the cave, saw one mob sitting in front. Set my pet to attack and used the time to get my sword skill up. Started looting and got the stinglasher gland - i was like wtf? And whadda ya know. Stinglasher was the first mob i downed.

47 tauren hunter, BM specced.
Stinglasher cords: 76,61 - in front of the cave.

Did this solo as a 43 priest (1635hp/3268mp). I stayed out of shadow form so I could heal. It was close with the resists, but managed to do it.

as a rogue its possible to solo him
it will be a close combat (especially with an add like i had) but with the right tactic you can kill him fairly easy

do whatever you do till you health is low, then blind him and heal yourself with bandages(as far as possible considering the poison)
fight again till you are almost gone, then use a superior healing potion.
don't forget to use evasion and preparation as well of course

You cannot pick up the Stinglasher quest while you have Tabetha's Task in your quest log, just confirmed this today in SoD.

In surveying the Writhing Deep, one of our scouts reported seeing a giant insect - much larger than the other insects spotted - wandering about the twisted terrain. Not only is it larger, it also seems to secrete some sort of aura that the other insects don't. We've given it a name - Stinglasher.

The innards of this beast would be invaluable to study as we figure out the best way to deal with this new threat. Cut out its secretion glands and bring it back to me immediately!
