Drop rate is really low, there is a good spot (with lot of boars) northwest of Falcon Watch, but take care with Fel Reaver, it wanders the area.

Also looks as high lvl boars drop them more often than lower ones.

There are two clusters of Hulking Helboars, 1 near Falcon Watch and 1 near the Temple. Only the ones near Falcon Watch drop the blood. And I'd estimate the drop rate around 20-30%, I got the 6 I needed pretty quickly.

Drop rate is horrendously low. If you're speed levelling it might be best to skip this quest.

Alternatively, you could do what I did, and just do it gradually while you do other quests. As your a traveling back and forth over Hellfire, just dismount and kill any boars you see. Should have it done easily by the time you leave.

drop rate is low but if you get the boar down to about 200-300 hp then dont use any spells or crit and just hit them the drop rate becomes about 80%. there is another quest that you get in tanaris called the thirsty goblin. you need to get a laden dew gland and it doesnt drop unles you just sit there and hit them with your weapon. that quest took forever until i looked it up and found that info.

This quest, like so many others, is a menace, but can be made less so by keeping the following in mind:
• The Helboar can be found around 26,40 in a large group. Watch out for the Fel Reaver
• Pairing these quests: Helboar, The Other White Meat and Demonic Contamination spares the lives of about a thousand additional Helboars.

I killed the Boars near the encampment and it took me 19 kills to get the 6 vials which took about 10 minutes which isn't too bad for 10,400xp and 275 reputation.

Easy exp. Took me about five minutes got all six blood samples from eight boars...so that's what, about a 75% drop rate. Go due East from the quest giver and you can find all of the Hulking Helboars you'll ever need, but watch out for the Felreaver, he travels through the area pretty often.

what is odd though, is that i have leveled 3 toons to 70, and on all of them i got the bloods i needed within 10 kills.

now on my fourth toon to 70, i've killed like 10 and haven't gotten even one.

Drop rate is really low. Easy quest, though. Farm them near Cenarion Post in the SW of Hellfire Peninsula. Strangely, I found if I yelled obscenities at the boars before I killed them, they would drop the blood at a higher rate.

Do this at the same time you do "Helboar, the other white meat". Alot of meat drops and one thing to make it easier, pull the helboars in to falcon watch and let the guards help you to kill em'.

Getting the blood samples is easy, You can kill any Hulking Helboars on the plannet! It still works. The higher lvl ones lvl 62+ Do drop faster.

It may be different for other people, But IMO the drop rate sucks. I got about 3 greens for every Blood I got. And I died, a couple of times, considering that is right on the Fel Reavers path. Took me about 30 Minutes to Complete. I killed the piggies that are West of Falcon Watch.

As of patch 2.4 the drop rates seem to have significantly increased. This could simply have been a run of great luck, but prior to 2.4 I had abandoned the quest after getting no drops on about a dozen boars. Out of boredom I picked up the quest again and got all six drops in about nine boars. If anyone is reading this as of 2.4 I would definitely recommend giving this quest a go.

i just did this quest and every other helbboar i killed i got a blood sample talk about lucky but it only took a few minutes, ohh and watch out for the fel reaver cuz my pet got ganked by it

ok i killed about a million lvl 61 boars and nothing

then killed 6 lvl 62 boars and got it everytime so 90-100% drop rate from the lvl 62's right across from falcon watch

Apart from the - not that awesome - droprate beware of the Helboards thorn shield. They hit for around 24 each time you hit them, which adds up in the end. Fast hitting classes such as rogues will have longer downtimes killing these guys.

Just completed as a 63 Hunter, killed 19 to get the 6 samples, so it may be the drop rate has improved since some previous posts. The area just north-northwest of Falcon Watch all the way to the Cenarion Post should be renamed Hulking Hellboar Nature Preserve; stayed around 22,55 with the only threat being a Fel Reaver walking through the area twice. The Hellboars don't link very well, so you can take your time. Worth the effort as the combination of this and the very easy 'Testing the Antidote' gets you over 20,000 XP at this level.

Dont listen to these noobs. the further you go the lower the drop rate. stick right by the quest giver area. I ventured a little ways away and got 1 in 35 kills.. went back and got 3. so yah. stay there!

This quest is not as bad as people make it out to be.

The drop rate for me was around 80%

Coords: 22,57 in Hellfire, just west of Falcon Watch.

I am a Demo lock so it's a little easier than let's say a rogue, but it's still doable in less than 15 minutes with bandages.

Believe it or not, I think that the blood drops get more common the further away from the questgiver you go.

I got 3 samples in my first 3 kills. Been killing for half an hour and still haven't gotten my 4th sample.

Drop rate seems to get absurdly low the further along the quest you get.

Drop rate sucked for me everywhere I went, either right next to the temple, between there and falcon watch, or next to falcon watch.

I probably killed at least 30 to 40 of them to get the 6 samples, so I think that the 13.54% drop rate is either correct or may even be optimistic since it includes kills not done for the quest.

Don't completely lose hope if you don't get any right away... Took 12 kills to get my first blood sample.

Total Count: 24 boars for 6 samples... not terrible. 540xp each at lvl 61 is pretty nice too.

there is a bluff or butte at 18.52, got most of mine around this land feature, overall drop rate was 34%, but much higher in this area.

61 Moonkin. Started quest at quest giver 8:45 finished 8:56 (9 min).

Killed 16 hellboars. Recieved 10,800 Exp.

Did the follow up in less than 120 seconds another 10,800 Exp.

Thought this quest was a little too easy. The boars are like 10 feet from the quest giver, and dispite what everyone else said, they droped really quickly for me.

This quest is hard as hell, drop rate is horible. At least 20 minutes into it...

But once you finish this quest, you get 10000 XP. After that, you get another quest that requires you to use a antidote on one of the hellboars and he turns into a dread tusk, alls you do is kill it and turn the quest in for another 10000 xp - so 20000 xp all together

To complete this quest you need to gather 6 Helboar Blood Samples from Hulking Helboars.

You just literally need to turn around, helboars are all around the quest givers, the area is overpopulated by them (if there are not many ppl around ofc).
There are multiple Hulking Helboars can be found to the northeast, usually there are less ppl. Boars drop Helboar Blood Sample, the drop rate is medium.

You will be better off skipping this quest entirely. In the time it will take to complete you could advance several levels. I don't really see the point of the quest besides rep. Just do a few blue quests to make up for it and move on. I am convinced this is a troll quest designed to waste time for players when they could be doing other things.

If you're experiencing a very low drop rate, do be sure you're killing Hulking Hellboars, and not the many other varieties of pigs that are ubiquitous in Hellfire Peninsula.

Welcome to the Cenarion Post, <class>. We don't often get company out here, but I'm grateful for the visit. My work with the creatures of this desolate land requires me to travel to many remote places.

The Cenarion Expedition has dispatched me to study some of the most dangerous wildlife in Outland, and I've made a startling discovery. While many creatures here have already undergone radical changes, they continue to mutate. I'm collecting blood samples to document the changes, and any help would be welcome.
