Inside the cave, completely soloable as a hunter. Clear your way in, slap on cheetah and just kite away. He's fairly slow and the only difficult part will be making sure you don't run into more mobs.

Otherwise, an easy hunter kill. You can make the kite shorter by bringing mana pots as a BM hunter (mend pet/arcane spam) and taking him down as much as possible before kiting.

Solo'd as 62 Warlock.

Simply cleared out the cave he is in first, sent my VW in, DoTed him up and proceeded to DrainTank him when VW lost aggro. Things got kinda close once (no Healthstone ready, doh) - sacrificed VW and finished Blacktalon off while bubbled.

I finish him as bear form ofc, take about 3 minute....was boring but alone.

62 druid, soloed, used one healing pot.

If you're gonna try equip tanking gear. Cast regrowth & rejuv on yourself before charging. Other alternative is start in cat with pounce/mangle/rake/5 point rip after that switch to bear.

Get a full rage bar for frenzied regen then hit it when you're around 30% HP. After that if you started to get low again hit bash, and shift healing touch/rejuv/regrowth again if needed (I used healing pot instead of HT :)). If you're running low a third time use whatever healing consumables you have - whipper root, healing pot etc.

Soloed him as a 70 fire mage. Didn't realize til the fight started that I was out of health pots hehe, killed him with about 70hp to spare. He'd be a joke for a frost mage, though.

Just solo'd it as a 61 affliction spec'd lock. I cleared out all of the alphas' in the cave, sent in my succy, dot'd him up then chainfeared and re-dot'd constantly until he was down to 2k hp or so, then draintanked him to death. Overall a very clean fight. Very solo'able at 61-62 as a lock.

Wasn't too difficult this one, I brought a friend along and we killed him quite fast. Don't let him get to the clothies though, or you will be in trouble. Tried to solo at lvl 61 elemental shaman, but that didn't work too well.

Most classes cannot solo mobs with the exception of the following:
Mages
Warlocks
Priests
Druids
Hunters
Shamans
Paladins

If you're one of those exceptions and decently skilled feel free to solo at 60+. Otherwise, nab a party for this one.

I soloed as a 62 frost mage with no problem just used ice barrier and water elemental.

Soloed as a lv 60 frost mage. kited it about a bit switching between my elementals freeze and my frost nova, aswel as a fully specced frostbite. used cold snap, but didnt even lose half my health bar.

Did this at level 60 as a feral druid with a 60 shadow priest healing. Killed 2 of the mobs near it in the cave to prevent adds, then led with pounce/mangle/mangle/rip to build aggro and damage, and tanked it to death in bear form. Keeping demo roar up really helps the incoming damage, and I had to bash/innervate my healer about halfway through. All in all, pretty easy, but expect to use your cooldown abilities. Also, I popped the charm of alacrity (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=25787) to mitigate some more damage, and used frenzied regeneration once. Tried soloing it as a 60, but that was a serious no-go, too many crushing blows.

I managed to tank this 63 elite with my 61 human warrior with a priest as healer. Was not as easy as I thought because there was 2 other monsters (nonelites) hiding and i had to deal with all that aggro.

Try this quest with caution.. bring at least 3 to make it easier..

Duoed without any difficulty whatsoever. 61 Fire Mage with a 61 Holy Paladin. Just have to make good use of your skills, frost nova, Dragon's Breath, etc. Relatively simple.

Done with me (61 Enchament shammy) and a 60 Feral druid, we ended up buying the farm, but I reincarnted fast enough to rape him quickly, before he regened.

Solo'd lvl 61 Feral Druid. Wasn't easy though.

Blew my cooldowns early so I could use them again. First attempt I started as cat, switched to bear with a rejuvenation between and used my Frenzied Regeneration when I was taking too much of a beating. I died when all my abilities/pots were cooling and mana was low, he was at around 10%.

Went back and started as Bear.
60% health, Frenzied Regeneration.
40% health, bash, out of form, heal, Bear form.
40% health, out of form, Barkskin, heal, Innervate, Bear form. (should have potted before innervate)
40% health, Bash, out of form, heal, Bear form.
40% health, out of form, barkskin, heal, mana pot, Bear form.
......

I did 2 Frenzied Regenerations, 2 or 3 Bashes, 2 or 3 Barkskins, 1 Superior Mana Potion.

This is the jist of the fight. Maybe I had less Crushing blows, maybe I got lucky.

In Bear form;
9975 armor
7027 health
120.5 DPS/23.4 crit
3642 mana when out of form

Was a fun fight!! 2 attempts :-)

Not as bad as Vile Priestess Hexx was though. I didn't beat her solo until I was 3 levels over her and in full healing gear to keep up with her healing. And then she runs off to aggro more mobs!! Moonfire spam ftw.

Edit - I pulled Blacktalon with a Faerie Fire to where the first 2 mobs in the cave were and fought him there.

I did just solo this quest as a 61 frost mage, had to use both elementals as the first one got battered to hell lol. But you are able to frost nova the boss but i basically just let my pet get aggro at first then just run back and fowards in and out the room when he started chasing me, as to allow the pet to get more aggro from him, And use frost nova when ever available.
But dont be scared of him :) you can do it Frosty's.

For feral druids to get feral charge range, and anyone else who wants to get a bit of range for a second....

There's a pile of bones just outside the cave to the right, he seems incapable of walking over them. If you get him on one side, then jump over the bones he'll take the long way around. This can get you some time to get to charge range.

I did it quite easily solo as Hunter. I basically did as previously mention, using mend pet. Used a mana pot when my mana got at about 50%. What I did was clear a way to it, made sure my Raptor was at 100%, sent it in, cycled mendpet twice, hit it with concussive,serpent sting,arcane,then aimed shot. Then cycled mendpet twice and repeated it over and over - using the manapot when my mana got to 50%. I was getting a bit worried because it took a while - afraid the flayers I killed on the way in were gonna respawn. They didnt. After the flayer was dead, my raptor had enough left in him to kill the flayerwhich was to the left of the R.F.M. (with a little help from me of course :D )

i completed this as a level 60 marksman ,solo, it took me 2 tries
but he is not so strong, but if u are a hunter u need a pet with lots of armor utherwise u will wind up dead
Tip:when u are low on mana first Mend Pet ,then Feign Death and
drink something to regen youre mana and start shooting at elite.

She may not be super strong, but she has quite a bit of health. 27,000 to be exact. So, doing it solo at any lvl will take quite a bit of time. The vital elements are patience and focus. As long as you have those, it's fairly simple.

Pretty easy solo as a 60 moonkin druid. Cleared the tunnel up to her, then pulled her with insect swarm back outside to the cave entrance. Exiting the cave to the right, along the hillside, is a fairly good clear run area. Was just a matter of keeping her rooted with insect swarm on her til she died. She hits fairly hard so best to stay at max root range and be ready to reroot if it breaks. Took a few minutes but it was a slow steady way of killing her.

If you are a feral druid, you can solo this. Though she has 27405hp, she doesn't hit hard. I soloed it at 62 with a bash and heal. Take a mana pot, keep barkskin in reserve and heal early, and you'll be fine. (My gear is not good)

Soloed this as a 61 affliction spec'd warlock. Took 2 trys though. Typically when I take elite mobs I go with the whole fear lock bit so I use my imp. Unfortunately there are quite a few places that Blacktalon will run that will be out of your line of sight, making it take longer with the imp then it does to use your voidy as a tank /back up bubble. Needless to say, imp didn't work the first try so I went voidy the second. I didn't have to bubble, just kept up my dots and kept Blacktalon feared, just make sure you clear the adds and have a healthstone for emergancy ;]

This was an easy solo for my lvl 60 warlock affliction specialist. 1st take on each alpha on your way in to the cave seperately with out aggroing the Matriarch. Then send in your void walker i cast amplify with my curse of doom then corruption then unstable affliction then immolate then siphon life. Now while all your D.O.T.s are working hit him with drain life. Around this time your curse of doom should hit and it will aggro to you so hit it with death coil and send it running then drain life again then fear. now start with the D.O.T.s again if you run low on mana use dark pact to refill it by stealing your pets mana or use a potion make sure to keep him feared because it hits hard and if you get in a pinch just sacrifice the voidwalker to gain invulnerability oh and if you have the abyss shard from the warlock quest then resummon the voidwalker with out mana or soul shard cost and then you can use dark pact again to refill your mana pool. By the way just to let everyone know a warlock can solo any mob regardless of lvl as long as they have mana and the mob is not immune to fear.

This guy is a lot more difficult than those lvl 63 elite Colossals. I tried as a 61 full frost mage, got him down to 30% but died. Could've kited him, but blizzard hates mages and stuck him in a tiny little dungeon.

Solo'd AND one shot as a 61 moonkin.

Important part of the fight was clearing both the mobs cave and the outside surrounding area. Strat as follows. Debuff(faerie fire) run to the entrance of the cave so that entangling root will cast. Entangle,insect swarm,moonfire,starfire,entangle. This is an easy fight for moonkin but the previous posts where correct both about hp and damage from attacks. Hit me once for over 800 in moonkin form with my armor bonus. Had to use Innervate in the middle of the fight so took forever to down. Then died to a worm. So learn from my mistake and clear them first. Happy hunting.

32.63, Hunter lvl 62 and pet lvl 61, tried to kill it in the cave at first unsuccessfully so i cleared a path to the road ran in tagged it and kited for 5min realized at that time i was going to need help so i kited to the temple of telhamat and the guards finished it off for me.

This is an impossible quset for a hunter 60, the beast hits over 500 damg so it will not hold whit only 365 healing whit the mend skill (365 is the highest mend skill you can get whan you are lvl 60)

Actually, with a group of feral druid and frost mage I found this one a piece of cake and much easier than the colossals. You also need to only kill one or two alphas nearby and then just nuke her. Killed at lvl 60 with no problems.

Possible to do as hunter -> just clear the cave, kite him out of the cave and through the Great Fissure and then just kite him along the road...easy XP and gold

sheep him then regain max range. use trinks and wind up a huge pyro. Then fire ball, fireblast, scortch. he should be in your face now so CoC and run abit then windup a pompyro fireblast scortch. run a bit more for another scorth then use frost nova. he should be just outside the cave now so you have lots of room to run a distance then fireball fireblast him down. if he gets close again blastwave or CoC then regain some distance again. frost nova should be down so use it again if he gets close.

Just soloed it with my 61 Holy Spec Paladin. It can be done. Although, it took every Divine Illumination, Divine Favor twice, Divine Shield + Heavy Netherweave Bandage, Lay On Hands, and a Major Mana Potion. Did it shockadin style with a big 2 hander, 5588 Armor, and +367 to heals and damage.

If you can't solo this as a warlock with chain fear then you should go to the log in screen and click delete. Ever use a bandage =/ probably not. Seriously this guy was NOTHING and you needed 2 locks? Astounding.

My 62 warlock who's my alt in all green/blue gear that I got mainly from quests solo'd it easily plus unexpected adds when it got feared out of the cave.

Didn't even use Curse of Doom and if I had it would have been even easier than it was.

Did this as a 60 Hunter with a 62 Hunter (PuG not guilde). What we did was I sent my pet in first and didn't use any mana except to heal pet. The 62 Hunter sent in his pet and in about 20 sec later agro switch to his pet. He then started healing his pet. After his pet died (he healed until out of mana) the agro went back to my pet and I healed him until I ran out of mana and he died. After both pets were down the Mob came after the us but never made it.

Our mob was a 63 elite so if you can kill this as a lower level your ahead of the power curve. If your like the rest of us bring a friend (or two) or go to the cave and wait for someone to show up.

I can solo allot of stuff too - No one cares. Tell people about a strategy or about some tactics used to defeat a mob. Perhaps the location on the map, some trick that you figured out. Please don't bore me with another " Hey, look at me! I am teh schizz!"

Better with a friend, but was OK as 62 demonology warlock after clearing the 2 mobs on the way to him, pulling him out nearly to the cave entrance, and keeping him feared and dotted up. Without constant fear, he killed my felguard quickly, then my character. Without pulling him way way back near the entrance, fear led to getting the extra mob at the back of the cave and to death; this might have gone OK as affliction with more dots to kill the add and instant howl of terror to not get beaten to death while casting.

Rock flayers are mean, nasty, violent creatures. But the plain ones are like tame beasts when compared to their matriarch, Blacktalon the Savage.

My cousin got eaten by her and it wasn't pretty. I swore that one day Blacktalon would pay for that. You bring back proof of that monster's death and I will give you my life's savings. Deal?

You're going to need some friends to kill Blacktalon. Big tough friends with sharp swords. You'll find her inside a cave in the Great Fissure. Good luck!
