You'll probably need to find a buddy to run this one. He roams the area North of Oshu'gun and is immune to rooting/snaring.

I thought these clefthooves looked a bit like Banthas when I first saw em. Star Wars reference for the win.

Just find the herd of Clefthooves in the area. If he's dead, he'll eventually spawn with his herd.

If your a hunter, you just kite him. I killed him at level 65 just kiting him around.

Hard to give proper Co-ords since he moves around quite a bit. Spawns NW of the ruins and walks along to the NE. He is relatively slow when in combat so can be kited.

Immune to fear however.

As a shadow priest, he hit me for around 400-500 per hit and had over 20k health, not too easy to solo, bring a friend.

I did this with a 65 priest and it wasnt so hard, but then outta no where some other giant elite 67(i think) comes lol i was like wtf..

Pretty easy to solo, did this as a 67 feral druid. Doesn't hit terribly hard. Immune to root and stun however.

Soloable by a 68 Enhancement shaman (With this strat he should be cake for a warlock):

1. Pull him out of the heard with a low-end lighting bolt.
2. Pop your 20-minute cooldown earth elemental.
3. Let him get positive aggro.
4. Keep him healed.
5. Auto-attack with the occasional Stormstrike (Don't pull aggro).
6. About midway through your mana pop Shamanistic Rage.
7. Watch in amazement as the elite falls while you still have a full health bar.
8. Profit.

Yes, I did die a couple times trying to get things right. Each time I died it was because I either pulled him off my elemental or adds (wind elemental, Bull Ellek) came with him.

He hits kinda hard.. 400ish on me, 67 feral druid, 8888 armor, though soloable. :) used 1 innervate & 1 manapot :/

i finished a bag of soul shards trying to enslave felguards to solo him... and he's still not dead :( the demons either broke early, like 10 seconds after enslavement, or broke midfight, or durn came and wtfpwned me. /wrists

using a felguard to solo the elite mobs in these quest chains is the easiest thing for a lock to do. but like the guy said before enslaving is really hit and miss. sometimes it breaks mid fight and they both kill you or it doesn't work at all and the felguard kills you before you manage to enslave it.

the engineers at the forge camps can also enslaved but tend to break within a few mins.

Enslaved a lvl 67 Felguard at Forge Camp Fear... Took like 30 sec's to kill Banthar. The Felguard had atleast 85% hp left after the fight. Easy as pie ;)

Warlocks: if you are enslaving Felguards from Forge Camp: Hate to solo these bosses, you may notice they resist and break a ton, at least that's what it seemed to me.

I switched to Forge Camp: Fear to get one and no resists, alot less breaks.

Solo'd as a 65 BM hunter.

Marked and pulled him with serpent sting. Kited to about 80% before I ran into other mobs(couldn't keep kiting without getting aggro). Turned my pets growl on and proceeded to tank and spank him to about 5% while keeping my pet healed. My pet died, but I dropped an immolation and kited him untill dead. This guy is not an easy kill.

Soloed by a lv65 Paladin Prot/Holy spec. Using Righteous Fury, Greater Blessing of Wisdom, Justiced- Seal of Light, Using Seal of Blood. Took Lay on Hands, Divine Shield, and two pvp bought mana pots. Got really close but won over in the end since with gear my Hammer of Justice is at 35 second cooldown.

Locks can solo, just go to the forge camp hate/fear and enslave one of the OMG UBER!!! felguards and go kick some ass

Correct me if I am wrong, but I am having issues with the felguard, even under enslavement. He is leashing at a certain point near Aeris Landing. This makes it impossible for a warlock with a forgecamp pet to solo Banthar, Durn, or Tusker.

If Halaa is on your faction you can simply kite Banthar to Halaa. Just make sure you deal alot of damage first. Maybe wait a little before you go to Halaa.

Enslaved one of the elite Felguards, took out both Gutripper and Bach'lor.
Killed some shiz until he was low on health, waited until he let loose, killed him.

Enslaved another Felguard for Banthor, leashed himself, they dissappear if you are far enough away from you and seem to run or teleport back to their spawn point.

About to go enslave another one to kill Tusker >:]

Managed to solo all 3 elite Mastery quests as a 66 feral druid with ok gear, used the same method for them all. Start in cat, pounce and shred, go bear, demoralizing roar (VERY IMPORTANT) ,and just stack lacerate to 5 and maul and mangle away till you hit about 50% health then bash till stunned (If you go realy low and still no stun you can change to cat and use the combo points you should still have to maim it) heal with Rejuve and Regrowth or as i did a healing touch and then swich back to bear and continue the previous method and the kills should be easy!
-Try to keep Demoralizing roar up all the time
-Avoid moving around much so no extra pulls
-Dont forget about Frenzied Regeneration if things go realy bad

Only died once and that was my first attempt on the Talbuk

he was pretty easy for me (70 night elf druid) feral a ellek guy poped in but they only got me to half hp all u need to do is lacerateX5 and keep mangling plus faerie fire

A very very good way to do it for druids is to start on him with a starfire then hit him with a moonfire. Once thats done just kite him along a road or anything. What i did was kept moonfiring him when i had about 3 seconds or so left on my previous moonfire.

couple things that can go wrong i made this mistake twice i ended up running into the alliance town by following the road, and when i went to go around it i ended up getting dazed by a mob. You can go oom but if your balance or got a good mana pool (7k or so) you should be fine.

!!THIS START CAN BE DONE WITH ALMOST ANY MINI BOSS!!

On a side not you can prob do this as a mage just blind any time he gets to close and spam ice lance and fireblast

Why do people keep refering to "him" and "he"? The quest description makes it quite clear that Banthar is a female.

Soloed at level 66 as an affliction warlock. Can't fear/CoEx, but a used a voidwalker to tank him for a bit. I had to pop Soul Shatter, VW shield, Super Health Potion, and Healthstone. Got a few Nightfall procs so that sped up the process.

So no hunter soloed this quest. Man we hunters are fighting a losing battle when it comes to other classes. I will give this a try and see if i take this Banther out with no problems like all you Druids keep saying in these forms.

This quest can be solo'ed as a mage at lvl 67 i fire blast kited him and he died pretty quick.

I'm a lvl 70 beastmaster hunter. One of those few hunters that never developed a good knack for kiting.Very average gear. Tried to solo all 3 of the lesser Nessingway boss quests in Nagrand ( haven't tackled Tusker yet). With my standard techniques, I failed at all three.(yeah, I know...I suck...you're right...I know it <g>)

Then I took a tip from a post and picked up some green healing gear at the AH.
Thought I would try and imitate a minor league priest and boost my mend pet sharply.Also used a potion to boost healing power by 50 for an hour. It was very slow, but it worked with all 3.

As my pet charged, I got in a serpent sting (and reactivated that when necessary). Other than that, I just kept mending....the mending MUCH for effective with all the healing boost gear. Auto shot would activate after each mend, so I did a little damage muself. Pet usually held aggro or regained it quickly. In Clefthoof's case, my pet finally died, but by then Clefthoof was almost gone; and I had just enough mana to get off an arcane shot ...that did the trick.

Couple obvious thing.....do not use multishot of course...that would sure draw a crowd in a hurry. And if anyone wants to try this, resist the temptation to fire off a series of strikes....you are gonna need all the mana you have for mend before it is over.

Found this to be impossible for me to solo as a 66 Affliction/Demonology Warlock. He kills my Void pretty fast. He hits very hard. If I heal the pet I pull aggro. Even with Soul Shatter it isn't enough. I just can't do enough damage fast enough if I go that way and trying to kill slow to keep from pulling aggro doesn't work because he kills my pet. I tried kiting but even with minor speed to boots he catches up to me, stuns me, and then pwns me. Buffed up with food, elixirs, and such I have over 8k health and 600 +dmg. Still wasn't enough. Not sure what else to do except group. I guess this one is pretty appropriately labled a group quest, at least for me it is.

BTW I tried the trick of enslaving one of the Elite Demons but it kept breaking early and eventually killed me.

And to people complaining about reports of soloing mobs, that's one of the other reasons I come here besides finding out location ect. I like to see if mobs can be solo'd and what techniques were used. If it can be done quickly it's often much faster than trying to find a group.

Also I was able to solo this mob on both my Druid and my Mage at the same level so my Warlock is the only one that can't seem to pull it off so far.

He spawns with a group of around 5 Clefthooves and Clefthoof Calves so follow that wandering herd. Around 31,63 is the spawn point or just NW of Oshu'gun. Durn walks almost the same path so watch out for him!

For all you people still @#$%^ing about there being more than coords on the quest page, maybe you should take a look at the page for the mob. Generally the mob's page isn't "overloaded" with the advice that other people have taken their time to give.

Secondly, for those who say "l2p ur class huh huh" everyone plays their class and spec differently. Don't be an idiot for thinking otherwise, even if it is in the late 60s in level. It can get get tough at times.
