Why aren't there boots in this set? The epic boots at the PvP armor vendor don't even match the set. Unbelievable. Also, the set is purple (like the blue set before the former HWL set), so not only will you look like a pre-BC newb, but your boots won't match and your shoulders are on orange fire, not matching any other piece of the set.

The day Blizzard releases good looking armor for my main, I will cry tears of joy.

At present, this set uses the texture from the level 60 Champion's set for the gloves, chest, shoulders, and legs. The helm uses the texture from the level 60 High Warlord helm. Thus, the helm is orange, and the rest of the set is dark blue.

The shoulders use the level 60 High Warlord shoulders' model (they have multiple spikes and give off "smoke"). The helm also uses the level 60 High Warlord model (multiple horns).

The new General's boots, belt, and bracers do not match this set exactly, but they are at least skinned with a dark green texture.

I hope Blizzard remembers to change the helm texture to match the rest of the set.

the stats above are for the base set. when you add the 7 sockets to the set it can become very powerful. some of the high end gems are excellent. check them out in Hall of Legends in ORG. +10 crit, things like that. just need honor to buy them. speaking of which, you just need honor to buy the whole set. and marks of honor from the various battlegrounds, which coincidentally, is where you go to gain honor. very easy to get.
most of the other good gear is hidden deep in heroic instances. sure, we all can get there, but if something drops, theres no guarantee you will win the roll. the above set is guaranteed. you just need 101,250 honor points and 50 AB, 50AV and 30WSG marks of honor.(and then another 100,000 honor or so for the gems)

This set is not bad, I don't know why everyone bad mouths this compared to Assassin's set and the others.

I'll just point out the clear advantage one has over the other. What one has the other lacks.

Assassin: more AP, and good set bonuses (nice).

HWL: more HP, more crit%, +140 resilience, nice gloves

Assassin seems to be made for high end damage and HWL for survivability. Being a hemo rogue, it is a hard decision.

This set is highly Underated , those who bag it out have no PVP concept , its pretty simple , just go up to some smart mouth rogue with assasination armor and kick his ass.Because you will...providing u have the skill. AP doesnt mean ^&*! when u cant crit and have no survivability rate- we have a high chance to crit - plus stam n resiliance , all we need to pwn the bgs , im going 5/5 set and double gladiator fist weapons.

I know the set is only five pieces, but are there other high end pieces that match them? (You know, the way that Gladiator's set has the three matching General's pieces, so it all looks like one set...)

I have heared some discussion over this set and the assassination set and of which is better. Also a lot of people has said that this set is pure crap. Well here goes...
1. The assassination set is gained by doing different 5man instances throughout outlands. because it requires u to PvE to get it, it is also therefor made as a PvE set.
2. This set is gained through hours and hours of bg. Because of that blizzard has designed it so that it will fit better for PvP.

This set will give you a great advantage in PvP whilst the other set will ofc give you better dmg in instances (higher ap leading to higher dps leading to higher overall dmg...) The sets are made for different things you cant really compare them. If your pvp, get this set if not get assassination (or ofc kara gear and so on...)

One word: Resilience

Resilience decreases that chance that an opponent will get a critical strike on you. For rogues and fury warriors crits are their bread and butter.

Now, if you combine this set with the Veteran's gear you get 220 Resilience. Add that on with the Talisman Purple Trinket the Medallion of the Horde, the other non-epic Band of Triumph, and the Epic Sergeants Cape and you've got yourself 309 resilience. Divide that by 39.42 (39.42 resilience= -1% chance to get hit critically) and it will equal 7.83%.

Let's think about this. I'm not sure what the average crit chance for rogues and fury warriors are but 7.83% is nothing to laugh at. Resilience could just as well save you from a devastating execute, backstab, etc.

Granted, you would have to rack up hundreds of thousands of honor points to get all this gear, not to mention lots of marks. But, if battlegrounds are your thing then this really makes it worth it.

To conclude (I feel like I'm writing a freaking thesis paper), the HWL set is not completely useless. As a whole it may take a little bit more time to get but in those stick PvP situations, it is made to save your ass.

for pvp this set is far superior to assassination armor. if you are new to pvp please ignore any comments to the contrary. for a look at the math and rating visit shadowpanther's site. for dps in an instance it's a different story. without high resilience you will die quickly in arena or bg, i can attest to that from my own experience.
i also second the point that this is a guaranteed purchase instead of a shot at something that might drop. grind these in between raids and replace when you can.
