This appears to be the Arena set for a defensive healer. Healing power is sacrificed for resilience rating.

With the 2 piece completion bonus you could attain 156 Resilience from 5 pieces, not counting socket bonuses.

This is for the Holy/Disc healing priest. In many arena matches priests are targeted first because of how quickly we can go down if focus fired upon. This set tries to negate that by giving us a large amount of stamina and resilience. Some items from PvE may seem better because they have more +healing, but a dead priest doesn't heal. Survival in arenas is key.

DnT priests all have loads of Gladiator's gear, as do all their healers. There's a reason for this =P

This is really quite nice for the endgame PvE raider as well. I mean 10k health is beastly for healers and pays off heavily in high-damage encounters like Kazzak, Doomwalker and SSC (and presumably The Eye). Most healing gear for priests simply has no stam.

Resilience is something only PvP gear gets (and rather needs) - but the gear itself leaves a lot of potential for buffing via gems and enchants. I'd get this for a solid stam gear set if I had the time to PvP this much.

You are right, those 15sec is truly a key to winning if you have a priest in your team, but the longer we stay alive, the longer we can heal. An arena match often lasts longer then 15sec, mostly over 2mins /depending if its 2v2, 3v3 or 5v5, i've seen 5v5 last over 10min).

Staying alive is indeed the key - a dead priest is useless, those 15sec is just a bonus.. kinda.

This set is available for honor points and BG marks of honor with the 2.3 patch now on PTR. prices are as follows:

Chest: 14,500 honor and 30 AB marks of honor
Gauntlets: 10,500 honor and 20 AV marks of honor
Helm: 14,500 honor and 30 AV marks of honor

With the arrival of Season 4, Season 1 gear is no longer purchasable with Honor and Marks. However, you can still purchase these from Karynna on the Isle of Quel'Danas using Tier 4 Tokens. Here is the requirement for each piece in the set:

Robe: 1 Chestguard of the Fallen Defender
Gloves: 1 Gloves of the Fallen Defender
Hood: 1 Helm of the Fallen Defender
Leggings: 1 Leggings of the Fallen Defender
Mantle: 1 Pauldrons of the Fallen Defender

This is for healing, there is an other set for priests that gives dmg instead!

Both sets are pretty nice whatever spec you are. You could even mix and match to fit your needs (both sets look identical so you won't have to worry about looking silly)

Is there any good yellow/red PvP sockets (haven't seen any yet but haven't looked so much for it) or is it best to just stack 12 stamina sockets at those?

Does anyone know if you can get 2 pieces from each set and the +35 resilience from each would stack? I'm disc/holy and I have a set of +healing for instances. I also have 2 pieces of this set (shoulders and robe) which I also use with my damage gear for when I farm, only because I don't want a third set of gear just for pvp. I was thinking of getting the next few pieces from the dmg/hlg set. Sort of multi-use, for farming and pvp. Any thoughts on whether that would work well? We just got our paladin to 70 for a second healer so I'm no longer the only one. Yippeeee!

The diference on +heal between spelldmg set and healing set is less than 100 on +heal, so, in my opinion, by getting healing set u do much less dmg and not so much better healing, so I'm going for spelldmg set. I think I will be able to heal just fine (which is my prio in my arena teams), but if needed I will be able to crit some1 for 2k... :)

The pants on this set are very very nice to have for a PVE raider. +70 stamina and 14MP5 more than make up for its slight drop off in healing power. You absolutely do need stamina in high-end raiding. While there is better stuff overall from Hyjal and BT and beyond, until you get there you really would be smart to pick this up as a raider.
