Regardless of where this drops, I suggest to any engineer who can make it to buy it off the auction house. Once you hit 60, there is very little to do besides grind for money or pvp in between raids. Acquiring this schematic allows you great ease into a large pool of money. It only requires 6 mithril, 1 star ruby, and 2 truesilver to make a scope which can sell anywhere from 4-8g. You can buy these mats off the AH and make several of these scopes for a proffit without even having to leave IF/Org. I own this schematic and highly suggest purchasing it.

This is an extremely rare world drop. It certainly doesn't just drop from the green dragons - although they and Azuregos seem to be the only mobs with any non-miniscule chance of dropping it. Unfortunately Wowhead does not yet have the huge database of mob drops that Thottbot and Allakhazam do, so world drops like this are hard to track, but if you check them out, you'll see that this schematic has been seen dropping from all manner of mobs, levels in the 40s and up.

I purchased mine today for 65 gold on the AH. i actually think that the mats for this scope are even easier to either grind, or cheaper to buy than the mats for the Deadly Scope. I also highly suggest buying this schematic simply because of the huge profits to be made. It only requires 3 mithril bars, 1 star ruby, and 2 Truesilver Bars.

lol i found mine in a chest in lost rigger cove. random... selling it on ah for gold on destromath. its like finding an soj in a chest...diablo2 style ^_^. that actually happened to me once...

I made the mistake of selling this for only 20g. But this droped from the arena boss in BRD we rolled I got it. I thought 20 would be good then I look here and see I could get at least 50 for it.

i bought mine for 70g at the AH and i made 10 scopes that day and i sold all of them for 7g each in 3 hours!!.
I recommend every engineer that can purshase this schematic at the AH to do it because you can make a lot of money from this item and you only need 3 mithril bars, 1star ruby and 2 truesilver bars =)

I just had this item come out of a Locked Steel lockbox that i had a rouge open for me. Gonna hold onto it til my lts eng. lvl get up to use it. seems like the smarter invesment. =-)

This schematic is the far cheap way to skill up in engineering profession, despite the high price of schematic in some servers to buy it, but it's learnable at 240 skill and still orange thru 275 (grants 1 point skill per 1 crafted item). Mats are cheap, the scope can be sold for 10g (Malfurion Server), it's a money maker!

I got the Schematic from a Solid Chest in Tanaris, it was in Lost Rigger Cove, right in front of the settlement next to a tent or two.

Almost funny to hear people say how useless/waste of time Engineering is.

60 Hunter and a proud gnomish engineering. This is how USELESS I am, end-game;

Thorium Shells - sell well, great to use, also great to make for your raid as well.

Goblin Jumper Cables (or XL versions) - if the group wipes and I survive, cables to the rescue! XL versions never seem to be much different, I have a better proc rate on the smaller cables. Ressing your priest or shaman is instant kudos.

Scopes - Whoever you are, if you use a ranged weapon, odds are you'll bung a scope on it as well. Gee, let me think who makes those... and as for profit on these, well, guess that is a server-by-server issue.

Field Repair Bot - If you are in a raid group, bringing out one of these babies after a few wipes will put everyone at ease. Engineers feel the love from your fellow raiders at this awesome little thing...

Seaforium Charges - Doors. Boom. 'Nuff said.

And as also mentioned, we make many other things - Salt Shakers, quest items, explosives, guns and so on.

Engineering a waste of time? Dead-end job? Hardly... just take up mining to sub, sell your excess and take it steady...

If you buy materials, well... that's just silly...

edit: Also, to remind everyone - and I mean no offence to Thottbot at all - but it only gathers info from the users. From my understanding, this drops from many, MANY other things and generally also found in Solid Chests the world over. So you don't need to limit youself to just Tanaris, or just on one enemy... share the love, overcamped areas are no fun to anyone.

Just bunging this edit in as some advice. Thottbot is great, but you also need to know how to interpret the data...

Farming necklaces and this dropped off a lvl 46 Soothsayer. Have a gnome warrior/engineer that can use it. The schematic has a buyout of 93G on our realm. Deadly Scope schematic has a buyout of 2.5G.

Deadly scope buyout at 2.8G. Sniper Scope buyout at 6G. Makes sense to buy for 50G if you have the mining skill to do your own farming but I wouldn't pay higher for it. As mentioned in a previous comment, it sometimes is just a matter of luck to get it.

I was just runnin around tanaris, and (with my dwarven awesomeness) saw a solid chest out there, guarded by two lev 45's. I passed it on my way out, and on my way in i decided to loot it, to my surprise
i got 3 mithril ore, this scope plan, and some other stuff. I now never pass chests.

Well, while I was doing Jintha'alor quests in Hinterlands I found mine in a chest. I play on a small server (Nordrassil) and i'm trying to sell mine for 64g b/o, people say its a rip off. I know its not, from what you guys are saying how you can even out in a few days. Either way, i've just been getting lucky with rares lately anyway =D.

Sniper scopes sell like hot cakes for all the alts leveling up, the mats are roughly 3g and the scopes sell for 18-20g.

I literally sell about 1-3 a day since not many people have this recipe anymore or don't bother to take the few minutes it takes to make.

Ive been farming the flayers and ghouls in felstone field, but no drop. Can someone tell WHERE in felstone field this dropped? Was it from a mob, chest, or what? Thanks

So I was at Lost Rigger Cove, grinding Pirates, 45 Priest, and this Troll Rogue was grinding them too. Well I aggrod a pirate but he stole the kill from me, so I got angry. There was a chest right next to said pirate, so while the Rogue was fighting, I looted the chest and got one of these.

He was extremely, extremely angry with me. Currently up in the AH on Dark Iron.

The mats to make these scopes can be EXTREMELY cheap, I'm talking about a little over 1g. People sell mithril tubes in the AH very cheap, because they're used to level up engineering.

So if you learn this @ 240 engineering you can level up a lot of points AND make a profit on the scopes. Highly recommended.
