Although infamous for wasting bag space, mystery meat actually does have it's uses. One of them is for making Dragonbreath Chili (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=12217). Not only is it a fairly easy recipe to make, but it also appears very intimidating in pvp (although the damage which it causes is insignificant). If nothing else, the chili sells for a decent amount of gold on the AH.

Other uses for mystery meat are:

Carrion Suprise https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=12213
Mystery Stew https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=12214

Both of which raise stamina and spirit for 15 minutes.

The icon amusingly looks like the rolls of human skin found in the movie 'Suicide Club'.
Most probably an allusion by Blizzard.

I found that this meat leveled my cooking up from 175 to 224, using mainly Carrion Surprise. Very easily found and extremely cheap in the AH. I bought about 10 for 40s. This stuff is great for easily cooking leveling and can easily make some money with Dragonbreath Chili.

This stuff is used in various cooking recipies, most noteable of all being Dragonbreath Chili.

If you have seen the Japanese film "Suicide Club", you will observe that this meat looks rather similar to the rolls of skin that were left lying around in the movie.

Perhaps this is a hint at what the meat could be made of (people), but due to World of Warcraft's 'Teen' rating, it was not made more clear.

UNLESS your cooking is above 200 - then go get the Dragonbreath Chili

You need to farm Small Flame Sac from lvl 40-45 Scalding Whelps in the Badlands. The Chili is a popular high lvl chara item and a fun BG item.

If you can't find a buyer, hold on to it. The chili is a great cooking "lvler"!
