Really good key to have.
Im opening on Sunstrider UBRS for 10-25g, and i hang alot in IF so i open it 3-6 times a day.

Some corrections: Vaelan is *not* Vaelastrasz the Corrupt. Vaelastrasz the Corrupt is Vaelastrasz after Nefarian gets done with him and leaves him crippled (yet still very powerful) in the chamber just beyond Razorgore. Point here is that Vaelastrasz isn't always corrupt... he just bites off a bit more than he can chew with Nefarian. The fight with Emberstrife is an easy one now post-TBC, and can easily be duoed, if not soloed with a properly geared character.

And turning in the final quest item to Vaelan requires that you have another Unadorned Seal of Ascension on you when you talk with him, or he won't talk with you at all.

Vael in UBRS that you deal with and Vael in BWL are the same person/dragon, in the fight against Vael he goes on being a whiner about how he got trapped and he's killing you against his well which is why you get the major buff from him in the fight.

"Vaelastrasz is a Red Dragon who is also known as Vaelan in human form. Vaelastrasz has sworn to hunt Nefarian until the end of his days. He hunted down and faced Nefarian to the Blackwing Lair. Vaelastrasz fought him, but was wounded severely and became corrupted by Nefarian's dark blood. This is the moment when the Raid enters the room. You can eyewitness Nefarian, in his human form, corrupting Vaelastrasz with his magic. When he notices the players he gives the now corrupted Vaelastrasz the order to kill the players and vanishes from the scene."

Now if you pay any attention to the questline it is Vaelan who gives you the quest for the UBRS key, so it is only fitting that he help you in your battles toward Nefarian (though he only helps in Rends fight but oh well). When Vaelan assists he goes into his dragon form known as Vaelastrasz.

Even though he gets corrupted by Nefarian before he is completely dominated he buffs all players inthe raid to help with his demise to set his soul free and so he does not have to serve Nefarian anymore.

Nef says something along the lines of "This Whelp thought he could put his might against mine" Vael gets up and is all like "I have failed you my friends....Run the dark fire consumes me" Then right before he becomes evil he screams "ALEXSTRAZA! GIVE ME STRENGTH!" and your raid gets the buff Essence of the Red which is like a 2 minute god mode.

Has the drop rate on the Unadorned Seal been increased? We ran LBRS with 10 players, and had to leave a couple of seals un-looted because everyone had picked one up (they're unique). This seems like a pretty stark contrast to previous runs, where you'd be lucky to get two of them. Prior to this run I hadn't been to LBRS since 1.11 hit; is this normal, or were we just lucky?

Yes, the Unadorned Seal drops all over the place now, like 5 times a run, at least, while Gems are about 1-2 per run, typically.

I finished this quest chain yesterday. My rogue is in half Tier 1, half Tier 2 gear and I had a tier 2 priest with me and we couldn't do Emberstrife. The problem was that even though I could kill him, the Mind Control would not work, since Rogues can't really kite.

In order to get the Mind Control to work, you CANNOT be hit while casting. So either you have to have him kited away from you while you cast it, or you have to have him focusing attacks on someone else. He also has an AOE type of cleave, so even if someone else is tanking Emberstrife, the MC will fail if you get hit by the cleave so you need a bit of luck and good timing to do this... and he has to be below 10% health (like 5%) in order for the MC to work.

I was finally successfull when I brought in two tanks (probably just needed one of them). Even then, we almost killed Emberstrife before the Mind Control FINALLY worked.

It may be impossible for a rogue to solo, but as a mage I have fun before Ony raids start just kiting him and killing him ^.^

I only have the Unadorned Seal of Ascension, but I went to solo emberstrife as a rogue anyway. Easy as hell. He's not immune to stuns OR snares, so I just put Crippling Poison on my main hand, open with cheap shot, do a little damage, Gouge, then Kidney Shot when it wears off. Some more damage, then strafe off the edge of the little platform or whatever. It's easy if you just strafe when he doesn't have crippling poison applied, because he will move a little bit faster than you, and if you are spamming Gouge fast enough, you will get it off before he can hit you. Just use Gouge whenever it's up and Kidney Shot/SS/SS/SS when you have 5 combo points. Kite him off his platform into the middle of the main room, then run back up and jump off....etc.

Edit--It helps to have some bandages just in case he gets your health around 50%--then you stun him at the top of his platform, jump off and use one. You will be done bandaging far before he gets to you if crippling poison procced. And if he did, you'll get it off, but it'll be close.

lol theres a movie of a warlock soloing him naked its funny (on spirestone)

a hunter friend and my self (hunter) solo'd him easy just kiting him around room... did it twice cuz I had pet out first time and cant mc ember if u have a pet out.

other than that it was easy even the second time... lol go go opening ubrs door

Is the ring just a flat 3 minute cooldown? So you can call up Vael every single Rend fight?

i've been activating it during every dragon fight outside of BWL (can't get into there yet) still wondering if it has any hidden use outside of the rend/UBRS fights
i should add that nature isn't the only form i believe i got frost protection. though besides glyth fights it never activates

For those that don't know, this is the key to Upper Blackrock Spire, and can also be used to summon a little dragon buddy when you pick a fight with General Rend Blackhand.

I wonder if anyone could help me... My account was hacked, and the stupid mofo sold or destroyed all my items, including the Seal.
Do I have to complete the quest again, or just like the urn to summon Nightbane, I could go to Vaelan to give me another ring?

Lovely little ring. Made roughly 200-250 Gold with it just by being one of the few keyholders to UBRS on my server haha. Every time they pay 5 G, and it's like 5 minutes work. Less even if you get a summon and they make you a portal back ^^

I was comparing the seal i got after finishing the quest to this one, mine does not have the "use" functions on it? Is there something I am missing or have they taken the dragon spirit out?

The Chromatic thing will be activated fighting Rend when Gyrth does his nature breath.

It gives you +80 nature resistance

Seal of Ascension has remained in my bank all this time. Doing a little cleaning up and found this item to have been changed to the following stats.

13 Stamina
7 Critical Strike
7 Haste

Is there any way to get this back if you delete/discard it? I tried talking to Vaelan, but he wouldn't give me another one.

Vaelan has no dialogue option to replace this item once deleted in TBC Classic. This was tested with and without an Unforged Seal of Ascension in my possession. As far as I can tell, Item Restore is the only way to get it back.
