Incredibly easy to obtain from an incredibly easy quest. Solid ring, but you will find others with an additional stat increase to knock this out of your way.

no it would say increase chance to crit with spells

It says critical strike. Spells and ranged do not class as a strike

I contacted Blizzard and asked, �If an item says "improved chance for critical hit", does that apply to spells?�

Blizzard kindly responded by saying, �if an item will increase your spells critical chance, it will say "Increase critical chance for fire spells, etc." Most likely if a weapon states it, it means for melee combat.�

My interpretation of this response and my conclusion is that, for healers and casters that do not melee, wearing armor or using a weapon with Equip: Improves your chance to get a critical strike by 1%. written on it, would be a poor choice. So, as a priest, I will not be wearing Band of the Penitent.

Yet another item/quest rendered useless by Burning Crusades.

there is a way better ring that u can get earlier in the game. talk to the person standing next to the king of IF. it starts the quest for it. u gotta save the princess in BRD. DO NOT ATTACK PRINCESS WHEN U FIGHT THE BOSS. its hard cuz she heals the boss but the ring u get has same stat for crit ,14+, and some other thing as well.
