Though this is a quest item, it's one a player is able to use.

If you equip this item in your trinket slot, it will drain both your mana and your hp until you either remove the item or you die. The number it drains both by is random, so sometimes it will only drain a low amount of hp/mana every second (100 of each), or it will drain a large amount of hp/mana (500 of each). Usually the numbers will fall inbetween the two extremes.

Although you are technically supposed to turn this in to complete the questline it is involved with, you might want to hold onto it for it's special lethal properties

When a character is killed by equipping this item, that character will not suffer any armor damage. This is useful if one needs to kill themself in order to speak with ghost characters, such as the ghost in BRD in order to get the Shadowforge Key quest.

Also, if you get stuck in a location that you cannot easily get out of and your hearthstone's cooldown is not up yet, you can use this item to kill yourself so that you can be sent to the nearest graveyard.

Yea, I have this trinket it and I love it, I use it alot because for my guild, because we differ on what to raid, so if I fly to Eastern Plaguelands to go to Naxxramus, and then my guild leader decides to do MC or BWL instead, and I flew from Ironforge, well I just put on the trinket mid-flight and it kills me sending my body and my ghost back to Ironforge with no durability damage at all.

That's an awesome use, Striders.

Personally, I use it most for Scholo runs when nobody has key and we don't have a warlock to hellfire/rez. Just kill yourself and rez on the other side of the door. Save 15g, don't need the key :D

it despawns if you abandon the quest, so thats the cost, you must have the quest on you art all times if you want to use it

If you equip it while mounted it doesn't toss that effect on and you can use it to impress your friends, heh.

k, so I got this thing, my bf said "eqiup It" and I did and died over and over while in the instance. Every time I would get a rez, I would die again. Wasactually quite funny. Anywwyas, where is this quest at?

What ever you do, dont equip it, i did, got stuck for like 10 mins till i took up my inventory, then i had my mouse on the trinket, took spirit healer, and directly changed it.. So what ever you do, dont fricking use it! ^^

It's given to you by the high elf in the northpass tower in eastern plaguelands, as part of a quest chain. It's needed to find a highborne spirit who will speak to you in winterspring for the final part of the quest.

Not only would it be a great suicide device for when you get stuck, I also found out that is you equipe it while on a griffen, you will die and your body will be where the griffen start point is. So if you ever accidently click on the wrong griffen location, instead of waiting till you get there and turn back, just equipe it and in a few seconds you'll be dead, walking back to where you started. The sooner you equpie it, the less you'll have to walk. Becareful to quickly unequipe it once you rez, so you don't die again

I just got the amulet. Would be nice if I could use it. However I have a hunch that it either just ment for turn in or Wizard specific quest or warlocks...I hope warlocks cause I am 55 lock alliance. If you were stupid and left it equiped you deserve to die lol. It took me half way down in HP and I easily took it off in time. I wonder if its required lvl 60 and another quest to use? I didnt just do all those chain quests for nothing.

I think you shouldnt discard it right away, turn in reward is junk and rep not realy worth it.

Wait untill your 60 and or exulted rep with darnasas maybe thats the key that and need to be caster. (Druid,mage,lock)

Horde get a debuff that lets them attack their own NPCs. Alliance get a suicide trinket.

the only usefull effect this has, is for polymorph. since it does damage it will break poly

You turn it in at the south east part of the lake at the ruins. The only place marked on your map. As everyone else said don't equip it unless you feel like finding you body soon.

Alliance get an invisibility cloak, an invulnerability flask, and a suicide-for-no-durability trinket. Horde get nothing.

BTW I can think of a couple other uses for this that no one has posted above, and they're really cool >)

According to wowwiki: "Polymorph is a mage spell that transforms the enemy into a sheep, pig or turtle, removing it from combat." I think it's obvious that the out of combat factor should allow the polymorphed target to equip this trinket. Haven't exactly had the occasion of testing this though.

Use the Crystal Of Zin-Malor to go get the SHADOWFORGE KEY QUEST from inside Blackrock Mountain.. You have to be dead to talk to the Dwarf ghost, to get the quest line anyway.. Might as well come back to life with no res sickness and no damadge.. Just remember to unequip it as soon as you click on the angel at a grave site in either Searing Gorge or The Burning Stepes

Imba trinket to use in IF...

When you equip it it might do dmg from 100 to 500 each sec and drain your mana by 100 to 500 (its random)

I've not tried it but can you use it and die before a BG starts and ress at the Spirit guide? O.o

I got a funny plan for warlocks,step 1 go to lowbie area and summon infernal or doomguard then get a whole crowd and say EVERYONE A WORLD BOSS IF U KILL IT YOU GET 100G then dismiss but before pop a soul stone and this trinket and watch these nubs die, did it once and omfg looked like kazzak raid of SW but a little smaller, tho stupid 70 night elf hunter owned it >=(

So exploring the island around Scholomance, I manage to get myself trapped inside a chimney after trying to jump on top of it. With my hearthstone already used and auto-unstick not working I write out a help ticket to the GM's and start looking through my inventory, and find this gem staring back at me.

Simply killed myself, when I resurrected I was free.

I'm never letting go of my crystal hehe. =)

Does anyone know if this trinket will result in durability loss? Maybe one is able to equip this and die in instances when the raid is about to wipe anyhow? Or maybe not, I guess you cant equip a trinket while in combat. :(

It also drains about 300HP per second, so dont hold on to it too long.

It's like Dartol's Rod of Transformation, if you don't feel like turning it in you get to keep it as a cool trinket. That is, if you ever feel you may want to die in the future. Might be great for getting unstuck or a fast way to get to the beginning of a dungeon without having to take off your armor (no durability loss if you kill yourself). Also has a cool animation that you could freak out new players with :P

Wow, I equiped and that is a major mistake, it did about 1000 damage to me a second. I want to be worthy,,,:(. Oh well, I guess I should use it in the quest, and so should everyone else I guess.

The death benefit of this item, on flight paths at least, doesn't seem to function in classic. Tried on a fp to menethil from SW and got me down to 1hp and 0 mp and wouldn't kill me. Died as soon as I landed though, which kind of defeats the purpose...

This Trinket will allow you to Solo Tank Thekal in ZG as this will break both the Gouge and Blind... And will allow you to solo Tank Ossirian in AQ20... Lucky lucky Alliance :P

If you see your grp is going up against a hopless premade just unequip your gear and put this baby on and dont rez. They will get way less honer.

Even though the tooltip says 1s, it ticks every 0.5 sec for i believe between 100 and 550 dmg and drains 100 to 500 mana on each tick as well

the tick can be fished for, so if you eq it and have a high tick, just unequip and reequip until you have a low dmg tick

The dot does not give warriors or druids any rage

It is useful for

killing yourself without durability loss

Tanking bosses that CC (ossirian for example - warn your healers)

being CC immune in PvP (similar effect to Skull of Impending Doom)

It is helpful to combine the effect of this item with a healing Set and the Diamond Flask bonus as a warrior (dont unequip your flask for this item =D)

If you abandon the quest, the Item gets deleted. To drop the quest and still keep the item, either place the crystal of Zin-Malor in your bank and then abandon the quest, or delete it from your inventory, drop the quest and then restore it via the Blizzard Restoration Tool (https://eu.battle.net/support/en/restoration)
