What quest are these for? I'm on the Horde side and looted a couple of these today and can't figure out what quest they are for. Thanks.

for alliance at least they are used along with vitreous focuser and arcane quickener and runecloth to put in the cauldron at (i think) felstone field. could be one of the other fields though. quest is from the alchemist at chillwind point.

im killing undead at all 4 fields for ages and i havent ever seen 1 to drop. do i have to do a quest before? (i have done all Target:..... quests). i dont know if it matters but im only lvl 56.

Im friendly with the Argent Dawn and i got it today from a slavering ghoul.

The somatic intensifiers are needed for the Dalson's Tears quest where you gather ingredients and load them into the cauldron in the middle of the field as a "counter agent."

If you speak to Apothecary Dithers at the Bulwark (he does not have an exclamation point over his head), he will tell you that for this quest you need an arcane quickener (which you can buy from him for 50s), five somatic intensifiers, and four pieces of runecloth. You then load these into the Dalson's Tears cauldron, and receive some small increase in Argent Dawn reputation and some XP.

You do not need to be friendly to get either the somatic intensifiers or the osseous agitators. I am neutral and was able to get these drops with no trouble...but they are SLOW to drop, especially the somatic intensifiers.

To get the Somatic Intensifier, go back to chillwind camp and ask the Alchemist for it. Then you can go and kill all the undead you want <3

I think i had a bug or something every Rotting Cardaver i kill drop over 15 silver it must be a bug :S

The undead at the EDGE of the field are the ones who dropped the Somatic Intensifier. I was 5 in a row when I killed the "edge guys" compared to 0 for 15 or so killing guys in the field itself. It's possible that was just luck... but I doubt it.

this quest gives NO regluar xp, just argent dawn rep.

it costs 45s for the arcane stuff for each cauldron.

get 25 argent dawn rep for completing each cauldron

that means, you're spending 45s for 25 argent dawn rep. ripoff.

kill 5 mobs, get some regular xp and some silver, and get the same xp and argent dawn rep.

do not do this quest...worthless

When you are honored with AD you cease to earn rep through kills, so the repeatable cauldron quests are one of the only ways to gain easy AD rep over in easy-to-farm WP.

Otherwise it's off to the Chapel in the east of Eastern Plaguelands to earn tokens and insignia through the npcs there.

Remember it is worth getting to Revered with AD not only for the AD items that are available, but for Naxx atunement which is still very expensive at Honored lvl (60g + required items).

Of course this is in addition to gathering scourgestones, bone fragments and core of elements and cashing them in for tokens/rep.

I order to get these (and the others, ectoplasmic resonators and osseous agitators) you must be carrying a Vitreous Focuser. You get it from the alchemist.

This item and others like it are meant to be used to oppose the scourge in the western plaguelands. If you've done the cauldron quests, you can go back whenever you feel like it, collect some items, and then go and unleash an "antidote" into the cauldron.

Basically it's just a repeatable quest, but one in which Blizzard actually gave a nice backstory. You'll find the appropriate items for the repeatable quests on undead in the western plaguelands, as well as on the Eyes of Naxxramas in Stratholme, and perhaps some of the undead in the Eastern Plaguelands.
