Does anyone know what this is for? I have it in my backpack and I dont know if I should throw it away or not... Suspecting that it's some quest item that should've been removed

You get it from Apothecary Dithers at the Bulwark to get osseous agitators from skeletals in the PL. That's after you bring a sample back from the pots at the fields.

After you've done the cauldrons quests speak to the Alchemist at Chillwind point (not sure who Horde should talk to) and ask him about the 4 cauldrons. he will tell you what you need to purify them. This object basically gives you a chance of obtaining the items you need from drops off the humanoid mobs in the area, you just need it in your backback. Having spoken to the alchemist you will know what you need for each pot. Collect all this by killing humanoid mobs, then buy the Arcane Quickener from the alchemist (4 lots, 1 for each pot). Then use the ingredients on the pot (basically, open the pot). You will get a small amount of xp (500 ish) and gain faction with Argent Dawn. That's what it does.

The priest chick next to the alchemist says something about how many more cauldrons need to be cured. I cured all 4 and the 2 beggining ones twice yet she still gives me the same message about how we are about to stop the plague just a few more need to be cured...anybody done it 10X or more and found out if she says anything new?

Once a cauldron quest is completed, you can repeatedly to do it for faction points.

Then talk to Alchemist Arbington in Chillwind Camp, WPL. He gives you this item for no cost and then gives you some text options. Carry the focuser in your packs and kill Skeletons, Searing Ghouls, etc to get the items. You get rep for turning these in.

You have to buy an Arcane Quickener from the alchemist guy for each turn in. Buy them when you are ready to turn in the items, because they expire.

Here are the items needed for each one:

Felstone Field:
1 Arcane Quickener
6 Osseous Agitators
4 Pieces of Runecloth

Dalson's Tears:
1 Arcane Quickener
5 Somatic Intensifiers
4 Pieces of Runecloth

Writhing Haunt:
1 Arcane Quickener
5 Somatic Intensifiers
4 Pieces of Runecloth

Gahrron's Withering:
1 Arcane Quickener
4 Ectoplasmic Resonators
4 Pieces of Runecloth

NOTE: You do not need to be in those areas to get the items. I got them the Ruins of Andorhal.

i did each cauldron many, may times over again. 550xp and 25 rep, PLUS 650xp and 25rep from that 4th, badass cauldron.

masterkism has it perfectly. i did many of them many times. very simple 550-650 xp while you grind xp looking for the parts

As a warlock with a felguard and shadowburn, just put the felguard on autopilot (agressive) and use shadowburn. It only has a 15 second cooldown and delivers a nice punch!

after reading a bit i just decided to kick the focuser out,, dont really need 15 or 25rep cost of 40s,, That Bush thing was cool :)

The Arcane Quickener costs 40s. You need 4 runecloth and 6 Agitators.

The quest gives you 15 rep. Not worth the 40s and 4 runecloth imo. 15 rep is next to nothing.

The Cauldron Quests. Once you have performed the 4 cauldron quests, you will be able to obtain a Vitreous Focuser from Alchemist Arbington by speaking to him. This will allow you to collect Osseous Agitators, Somatic Intensifiers, and Ectoplasmic Resonators. These, combined with Arcane Quickener (purchasable from the same NPC) and some Runecloth, will allow you to modify the Scourge Cauldrons to poison the Scourge. This will earn you additional faction points.

You can drop this and talk to Dither to get another one when you need to.
