I managed to get two of these today, after farming the area for an hour. One dropped, and then after another kill, another one dropped.

While I wasn't there for the pattern, it's pretty nice considering I didn't get the recipe for Greater Nature Protection Potion or the Living Essences I was there for in the first place.

Has anyone else noticed that the respawn time for decaying horrors is ridiculous? There are only 2-3 in the cave. I killed one with a troll rogue claiming the others and then waited 45 minutes for a respawn. I fell asleep before it happened.

All the mobs spots can spawn either the horror or the slime. Totally Random

They are on the same timer as the oozes in the cave so if u want to kill more horrors, kill the oozes.
What i did that helped is had a warrior help me. He killed the oozes and i killed the horrors and behemoths.
We managed to get 4 living essences each, the living breastplate recipe and 2 of the greater nature protection potion recipes.

Thanks guys for the information. When farming this pattern, a little bit faith is needed. My girlfriend and I grinded 4-5 hours and just at the edge of giving up. The last time we loggin there was a rare mob named "Husk". After kill it, the first DECAYING HORROR dropped it!

Now my gf's resto Druid has the living combo. Breastplate, legging and shoulder. Pictures follow up soon.

BTW, we had 10 recipes of greater nature protection~~~really sick of it.

just to say if u r a tribal LW get the wildfeather leggings instead of the living leggings they give the same healing but also give damage and healing on top of it and nice stats u can also where it at lvl 45. U MUST B A TRIBAL LW TO WEAR THIS IT"S BoP.

54 Balance/Resto Druid tried to get this pattern by soloing the cave where Decaying Horrors spawn.

Had some success at first by sticking to the right-hand tunnel. The Devouring Oozes (54-56) are a pain in the a**, as they produce a gaggle of oozelings before they die, but can be handled one at a time. Spawn points are far enough apart to single pull, but it seems that Decaying Horrors are a minority MOb; they popped less than 20% of the time. Mostly you get the oozes and Rotting Behemoths.

Moving into the larger left-hand tunnel was a mistake (but tempting because of all the spawn points that can potentially yeild another Decaying Horror). Oozes wander here, and even though I was careful it wasn't long before I ended up with two on me. Once the oozelings appeared I was finished. My corpse was too deep in for easy retrieval, so I rezzed at the GY. Ended up with one gr. nature prot. recipie, one living essence, and a 2 gp repair bill.

My recommendation for this is to either 1) be 56+ level if you're going to solo (maybe even 58+), or 2) bring a friend. Two 54-55 toons should be able to handle this w/o dying if they're a little careful.

Oh, and I hit the trade channels and found someone to make me my Living Breastplate. The three-piece Living set is still nice gear, especially since the 2.3 patch added some bonus spell damage to all pieces.

I have been "farming" for this pattern 2-6 hours most every day for the last week.
It's not the obscenely low drop rate that gets me. I've seen this many times before for other items.
My comment is that the numbers don't seem to be changing on wowhead. It's been 'stuck' at 68/2396, or about 3%, for this entire time; and I know I upload my numbers using the wowhead client after every session.
