Actually 25 is a big deal. That's 25 mana you don't have to wait to regen, per spell. Even at 400 mana a spell think about it. Say you ahve about 4000-6000 mana ok, so at 400 you can cast abotu 10-15 spells and you are out of mana, but with this you've acutally got 250-375 mana left at the end. Which doesn't seem like much but in a pvp battle any littl e bit helps. you quaff a 900 mana pot and that takes you up to 1200 instead of the 900 it would have been alowing you to cast three spells instead of two, which might be enough to make the difference. And if you aren't doing pvp, say you are in a party. Well you aren't going to use all of your mana in one battle and that would just be less mana that would have to be regened equaling less time between battles. I tell you it might not seem like alot but anything is better than nothing. Plus if it stacks with staff of aquamentis or something like that, that's 50 or more mana reduction.

Some classes would find this more useful than others. As a Warlock, I'm drooling over this. I'm highly mana efficient as is and this would only make me more so. To me, any mana is useful, and nothing should be cast aside because it isn't ub3r. Besides think about it this way, 4000 mana spells you can cast ten of them, then you have 25 taken off each one, that gives you 250 extra mana, so its really like you just got a int boost. Of course someone is going to say, "Well more int would be more spell critical strike or something like that, but really, what would you rather have, 5 more int which would make like a .1 percent crit increase or something like that, or be much more mana efficient. Yeah, I know what I would pick.

I love the Linken quest reward for many reasons, but one main one- instant Arcane Explosion.
When we mages have to spam that spell for AE damage in raid or farming situations, saving 25 or 50 if it stacks is a HUGE bonus! That's like a free cast every 8 shots if I remember the cost right. Really helps with those smaller casting time / smaller mana costing spells.

On the test servers it got 9 sta added to it, along with the damage enhancement being increased to 18 (not sure on the damage enhancemnt increase amount, but it's around 18)

I have this on Arthas.. from what i understand one of two people to have it.. and as of the new patch.. the level has be changed from 56 to 60 as well.. :-D

Actually, I like it better now... Since I'm a priest and all. I rely on +healing, and the added stats along with the <=18 extra damage per spell is good for me. I'd roll on it in a heartbeat. :D

It's probably one of the best caster necks ingame.. makes me do ~750 more dmg each manapool.. (frostbolts) compared to Lady Maye's Pendant wich doesnt even give me enough mana for another frostbolt (only 120 more mana on Maye's)

I've been a 60 mage for almost 2 years and these were the necklaces I had before deciding to spend 25 DKP on this item.

Frostwolf Advisor's Pendant
+10stamina
+10intellect
-restores 4 mana every 5 seconds

Tempest Talisman
+7intellect
+6spirit
-1% chance to critical strike

Senior Seargent's Insignia

+7spirit

Choker of Enlightenment
+9stamina

The above necklaces are pretty good quality and are not that hard to get, but the choker gives me the damage and stats all in one, so I don't have to constantly switch items. In PvP/WSG+AB I'd roll with the Senior Seargent's insignia becuase its alot of close quarters combat, and +170hp boost is noticable. For AV I always rolled with the 1%crit. PvE I'd roll with the Frostwolf Advisor's pendant. I'm gonna hold onto the talisman's 1% crit if I ever respec back to fire, because Ice I already get a 50% chance to shatter crit, so 1% isn't noticable.

Before you use your DKP on this neck item, druids should compare the stats with the ZG reward neck item:

This necklace is subpar compared to Diana's Pearl Necklace, a blue Strat Live drop.

It's probably better than all of the other blues, but it still doesn't seem quite good enough to be an epic.

Diana's isnt better than this newblet. I have diana and 2 other blue neckpieces Tooth of Gnarr, and ogre something and this choker is better than them all. And the above poster hit the nail on the head 1% to hit doesnt make it worth ass.I do like the choker of the firelord but I think the extra stats on enlightenment including spirit benefits my pally over the little extra boost of +healing on firelord, but what do I know? according to you we should go do 5 mans for better loot. Lawl

Current plans for changing the Choker of Enlightenment, with the next patch should change it to:
+9 Stamina
+10 Intellect
+10 Spirit
Passive: Increases damage and healing done by magical spells and effects by up to 18.
Now, this isn't set in stone, only what's currently planned on the Test Server... after the patch, we'll see, but if that's the case, then this will be a great item again. Not the best, but certainly one of the better caster neck items in the game.

Pff....when this got nerfed sux....10 int 10 spir 10 increase isnt that much for a MC drop...even low lvl/quest necks are better....The princess theradras' neck (Gemshard heart) for mage or the medallion obtained from the defense of darrowshire quest are much much better....

Someone posted earlier why do healers always bid on this Necklace. Well my god let them have it. Only MC necklace worth getting is Choker of the Fire Lord from Ragnaros. Hell I would rather spend some time and money and get the Orb of the Darkmoon. It has no intel but +5 more damage. Ossirian in AQ20 has a nice necklace obtained from his head. I guess what i'm saying is save dkp and let the loser healers fight over this trash. Speaking from a caster DPS point of view though:).

There was a small kerfuffle a while ago in my raid community where a warlock bid on this and some bratty mage got upset complaining that his Kezan's Taint is better. I personally prefer the Choker (yes, mainly becuase it's epic) but then again let the DKP decide. Considering Lucifron is the first boss in MC and nearing TBC any PuG to MC to take this loser down (and his two b**ches) meaning that the necklace is obtainable to those not in a raiding community.

is that -25% of the mana needed to cast the spell? or is it -25 mane points? beacuse my spells on an avrage cost me 150-300 mana per cast. now -25% would be awsome..

Actually, Lucifron isn't really even a Boss. He's the first named you encounter, however. He's only a 63 Elite. Magmadar is the first real 'Boss'.

Lady Maye's Pendant/Jeweled Amulet of cainwyn
would only give me +135/120 (+10hp/-10hp) mana compared to this item.. and thats not even enough for an extra frostbolt... while choker adds up to 18 dmg on every spell.. thats like ~700dmg each manapool (if firing only frostbolts) Imho it's just as good as the other 2 necks..
