This appears to be the only weapon with both health and mana regeneration listed in Wowhead. Definitely a great weapon to use for stacking regens. However, I think I prefer trade the health regen for the plus damage and plus crit on the Moonshadow Stave (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=22458).

im sorry but this weapon is a piece of crap, along with 90% of all pre BC quest rewards. It vendors for quite a lot though so you should get it if you cant use the other rewards.

If you look beyond the stats, it's a pretty damn good 2h melee weapon for anyone who doesn't care about weapon specs (enhancement shaman). It's comparable to Kang the Decapitator if not better for the 40-49 bracket.

This staff is very good if you need 4g 7s 48c! But to be honest, I cant find any real purpose of it...

The way I see it, this makes for a nice Warlock weapon. You need health regen to keep life tapping, and the mana regen will require you to do it less.

as was touched upon earlier, it would be a nifty item to have set up in a macro whereby you equip that, and then eat/drink.

a minimal drop in downtime, but a drop nonetheless :)

of course, if any rogue, warrior or hunter takes this over the sword/bow, unless they've already got better of course, they need to be shot, repeadetly, in the face.

The idea of using this for faster health and mana regen is good, but there's one flaw with it. What if your other weapon has something on it that raises your health or mana? You'd restore the health and mana faster with this equipped, but then you'd have to restore the health and mana you get from your main weapon.

Hey all,

Just went to do the hand in for this quest and was faced with a choice of this or the sword, as a warlock i could easily make use of either of them just not sure which is best.

Atm im kinda leaning towards the sword, i just dont think the regen effect is powerful enough on this to make it worth equipping.

Would prolly be worthwhile if it were 2 mana and 1 hp per second. (thats the ratio of my hp to mana roughly) Its really all about the hp regen though as im assuming that works in combat where as normal regen doesnt apply, mana regen however does work in combat anyway.

Hmm yeah ive talked myself round, it is all about the hp regen, and the regen on this blows.. so sword it is, with a life tap chantment and a firestone in the offhand i could really do some damage.

P.S. Blue change the way spell and fire stones work for the love of god, they suck atm. Change to same as rez stone, 30 min buff, 30 min recast..

this is a good weapon for the level it's given at. i am a shaman and love it (like to switch between this and hand of antu. shamans have to do a class quest around the same time when this quest is given out called Da Voodoo and that quest has a reward of a wildstaff (Wildstaff which i think is not as good as the resurgence rod so i got the enamored mana totem trinket instead. :D

I dropped the rod for the magus longstaff of fiery wrath. the hp and mana regen pts/s aren't enuogh to keep me interested.

What many people seem not to udnerstand is the usefulness of mana/5. Perhaps this 8/5sec isn't that much on its own, but if you combine it with other mana/5 stuff you will be looking at a constant manaflow while casting, which is great for shamans sicne we dont have any talents for making mana regen while casting (yet, we will in TBC).

In long fight where preserving mana is the key mana/5 is great.

i got it... but i dont see the point of the weapon... it's not exactly that great... i mean... 8mana per 5 seconds and 5 health per 5 seconds? thats 1 health per second and 1.6 mana per second... whats the point?

this is a DPS weapon, not a caster. look at the high end dmg. better then kang. and mana regen. Put +9 dmg or crusader and Windfury 2 at lvl 49 and you got some high crits. NOT CASTER STAFF!

I havent turned this quest in yet, but when I do I will go with the sword. As mentioned below the only point in getting this is it should heal you during battle a bit. Otherwise it is equal to having a weapon with only a spirit increase on it. I would much prefer to use Orb of Noh'Orahil, and get the use of 40 hp every 3 seconds (cool down of 10 minutes). Of course this is only possible if I have a 1 handed weapon.

If you go out to Un'Goro Crater, try fighting some Venomhide Ravasaurs. You'll see that the staff will get buffed. A "Chance to gain ability" type of thing. What I got was (Venomhide Poison) 15 charges for 5 minutes. :-D

Of course, you could always use this, and then pop on a +9 INT enchantment on it. That'll increase it's usefulness by a great deal...

after that i equip my + shadow and + fire damage staff again

but the mana and hp regen isn't that big, so i'm going to drop it

The regen on my 47Priest is sooo minor that it's barely visible, even if you stare closely at your health/mana bars.

I think I'm going back to my Illusionary Rod. Some numbers to back it up:

Reg.Rod: 8mana per 5sec = 96 mana/minute
Ill.Rod: 15Int = 225 mana

225 is almost enough to cast many of the lower mana req. spells, including Fade. Perhaps in a 5min fight the Regen would be better, but I dunno. Anyone else have any feedback on this staff?

I'm a Druid and I love this staff, as both Caster and Feral this staff is awesome, especially with a damage enchantment ;) Illusionary Rod was forgotten fast when I got this, luckily someone shared this quest with me after I reached the required level during a Maraudon run, I didn't go back for a while after.
By the way we killed the princess with 4 people, a 50 druid tanking, a 50 mage, a shaman and me, the then-48 druid healing. Didn't have much of a problem, only oom just before she died so I panicked a bit as the tank was quite low ;)
