This is a great bow, do your best to get it as early as you can. Try asking a guildie to help walk you through Maraudon early, it's a good bow right up until you can start running BRD in your mid-late 50's.

awsome bow especially if you get the tricksters pants and this bow in one day thatd be awsome but the tricksters pants never dropped for me but i did get this bow and i still see lvl 60s usin it and im havin a good time with it so its a good bow definently get it

If the proc of this bow gives the same DPS boost as stats on similar ranged weapons (Megashot = 19AP, Gutbuster = 3Str, 8Agi) it will yeild:
21.1% proc per shot chance
4.52 procs per minute
1.36 DPS (given no attack speed modifiers)

Has the highest burst damage capabilities of any ranged weapon available to a 49 twink hunter.

my suggestion would be to use these bows for level 40-58

Master Hunter's Bow (from the Mastery Chain in STV)
40-44

Verdant Keeper's Aim
45-50

Bloodseeker (from AV quest) this Bow's quest is meant to be done at 60 but you can do it at lvl 51 which means u get a bow with the dps of a level 60 item
51-58

and use these with Quickdraw Quiver and your set till level 58 which you do the BC quest for the crossbow

Don't underestimate a quick ranged weapon in the hands of a BM specced hunter. W/O steady shot, shot speed doesn't matter as much, and is merely player preference

I always found the proc annoyingly went off on my scatter shot and actually breaking it, very, very annoying sometimes.

I actually had a little trouble getting this bow to proc for me. It's got much too slow of attack time to justify it's use, when you can get a bow -2 DPS at 48 with +Stats. Did the quest souly for the Cenarion Circle reputation bonus.

Although this bow seems a little slow, I recommend putting 5 talent points on improved aspect of the hawk, as the attack speed increase (chance on hit) helps address this problem and increase DPS and SPM (shots per minute) in tight situations (don't forget Hunter's Mark, and if you're Marks spec, Trueshot Aura will also help).

Getting this bow at level 45 will save hunters a lot of time and money searching for a new ranged weapon. Other, faster ranged weapons with similar DPS available for lv 45-48 hunters are either very overpriced in the auction house, or very *very* rare in terms of drop %.

One tip for those of you who use scatter shot, don't use scatter shot on a target more than 1 level above your own with this bow. Instead, send the pet in first, then use scatter shot, and concussive shot if the Scatter is removed by the CoH effect, as the target may accidentally get aggroed due to the threat of the scatter and the occasional break.

Decent proc rate, 1-3 times per battle. And I can confirm that the proc can crit. It just doesn't crit very high (crit for 25 agianst a 49 furbolg).

Being a Beast Master hunter I've found this bow to be truly amazing. Being level 48 I got the speed of this bow down to 2.19 unbuffed, and 1,94 with the Aspect of the Hawk proc, granting a lot more procs than different specced hunters would probably receive from it.

it's so hard to take this bow, even as a hunter, over my beloved thrash blade. Is the bow more useful as a hunter? Definitely, no question about that. But it just lacks the coolness of the thrash blade... oh well.

The gun has a higher DPS then this, but for those wanting to save ammo or have higher Aimed Shot hits, I'd recommend the bow over the gun. The gun eats twice as many bullets in the same time period, for only a slight dps upgrade. Inless you are an engineer making loads of bullets that you can't AH like me(they wont sell on aeg), it isn't worth the bullets.

Personally, I'm using the gun because I don't have Aimed Shot included in my build(till 51). I don't mind the huge demand of bullets, since I am an Engineer skill building off of bullets anyway. The gun doesn't even eat them fast enough. But when I get Aimed Shot, and run out of bullets after I quit skill building off them, I will make the switch. But untill then, this will wait in the bank.

But, do not, DO NOT choose the thrash and then resort to the gun to have both. The loss of what you need is never worth the gain of what you don't need, thrash has no AGI or benifits to your range once so ever, making complete trash other then vendor. If you want good weapon, get Grimloks charge from uld. Good damage, +15AGI/+15sta. STATS ARE MORE IMPORTANT TO A HUNTER ON MELEE WEAPONS. Thats the bottem line.

I have to agree with sendorin. You want a nice slow weapon for high crits with aimed shot and such. The rifle is too fast and even a lower DPS. Thrash blade is nice, but only if you plan on melee alot. A nice slow Bow and a nice slow 2 hander for rapter strikes makes PVP EZ.

I would only pass this up if I had a better rifle/bow.

btw, I'm a dwarf hunter that prefers guns.

I think having the "Sting" is better than the 1-4 nature damage... For two reasons... The sting procs really really often... And it has a chance to crit, whereas the other nature damage, never showed what damage it did, or even if it could crit.

well on ya trash blade comment ya should chosoe the bow. but 2 handed perse no not at all. get 2 bonescrapers 2 x 30 attack power + 2x +15agi enchantment. alot better thats 120attack power with 2 weapons

A hunter DOES not get any benefit from Trash Blade, and seeing a hunter with Trash Blade instead of this very good bow... Declares him as a total noob.

Why? HUNTERS ARE NOT MELEE. You do not look for dps and proc's. You should NEVER be in melee range long enough for the proc to kick in. Trash Blade for a hunter is completly USELESS. Either go for crit% or stats. Not #$%^ing proc's. And if you're a gimped hunter that needs to melee, go for higher end damage (2h weapons) which do alot better IMO in pve and in pvp.

if you are a MM or Surv hunter, do NOT get this bow. it is a complete POS. why? the nature damage weapon procs breaks scatter shots and wyvern stings. GG.

i use the bow at lvl58, and it is 0.5 damage away from a xbow i rolled on in LBRS! it is equal to LBRS gear! that means, to use this bow before 60 is not stupid :)

Good bow for levelling Hunters, it'll probably take you to 60 unless you are willing to pay for the rare BoEs on the AH or find a group willing to take you to LBRS while <60. The proc rate is very high and you will frequently get them back-to-back, so even though it's not a particularly potent proc the damage can really add up.

The proc on this weapon can apparently be blocked. The very first mob I attacked after getting this bow, a zapped giant in Feralas, blocked my very first proc.
