Why did Blizzard put parry and AP on same trinket? i would have preferred stam instead of AP as a tank, and i would rather have Hit rating than Parry if i were a dps...

I am using Blackhands Breadth with the Hand of Justice, (+20 Attack Power and 2% chance of an extra attack on hit.) I would much prefer either one of these two trinkets vs this one. There is nothing better than seeing your Arcanite Reaper swing for free.

It's a good thing the warriors in our guild aren't so $%^&ing stupid as to even want this item since they realise by taking more damage they generate more rage and do more damage and also taking more aggro away from healers so they live longer and no one dies.

Yes, this makes perfect sense. Because when hunters miss the tranq shot on Magdamar and he goes into a frenzy on my ass, having lots of rage will save me. Idiot. Tanking in MC requires a considerable amount of avoiding damage via blocking, dodging, and parrying. Simply "taking more damage" puts stress on the healers, meaning they're OOM faster, then I die, then we wipe. You claim this is for hunters and rogues only because you have an ability that capitalizes on parrying. Boo hoo, face it, your class role involves hiding behind the tanks and kiting. If you want to melee, become a rogue. And most rogues are subtlety or assassination anyways, so they probably won't use this. Personally, I don't care if you roll. But don't !@#$% over a little competition. As a hunter you aren't automatically entitled to every item in the game simply because at some point you may come across a use for it.

I had this drop and as a hunter, i actually let the warrior have it. I know its good for me but i have the royal seal and backhand's breadth. I don't have the counterattack ability because i am a raiding hunter, specced into marksmanship. With 1240 ranged attack power i figured i could let this go and let the guildie warrior have it. No rogues in group. If it drops again, maybe i'll pick it up...

Saying that hunters shouldn't use this item is a little ridiculous. First of all hunters need to mitigate damage. Argue that they don't get in melee range and you have never played this class endgame before (ontop of that lets not forget that not all enemies attack from melee range, although parry doesnt affect ranged this arguemnt is more meant to extend to include +dodge gear). We've established that hunters armor gives them a little but doesn't last them very long, warrior/pally are only ones who can survive on armor/shield. Hunters survive physical damage on dodge/parry, notice our pvp set gear gives us alot of bonuses there, that is what we NEED TO SURVIVE, even blizz will say it, so yes we need that stuff too. Blizz added those bonuses to a HUNTER CLASS SPECIFIC set. Also for those who argue that hunters are rarely in melee there is some truth to this, however there is a reason for this, it is because WE GET OUT OF MELEE range using TALENTS like improved wing clip, or COUNTERATTACK, NOT because we're never in that range in the first place, and this trinket helps that. If you take a hunter who has put no talents into wing clip, counterattack, or scatter shot, i guaranty you he will die a lot, he will never be able to escape melee when fd fails which happens pretty often in some high level dungeons, and he will certainly not survive in pvp. He will be of limited use to anyone as he'll often die before getting out the kind of dps he needs to. Wing clip alone will never get us out of melee if a target wants to keep up (they can have us hamstinged at same time), often this ability is the one to give us the edge to escape.

This trinket is of course equally viable for rogues and warriors though, although i've never played the classes to vouche for it i think that it is just plain common sense that our tanks need both parry to mitigate damage and attack power to do more and rogues need more parry and more damage as their melee is very similar to hunters (just more powerful and with many more abilities to choose from).

And to the person who argued that this was not blizz's design because it was made before the changes in our survival tree, first of all im pretty sure we had counterattack before that anyway, and also this is an mmo, things change, down to the classes and their balances. If some patch makes an item useful to a certain class that wasnt useful before then theres no reason to say they dont have a right to roll for it.

The thing I've noticed from playing a hunter is that the hunter class is pretty much blizzard throwing a warrior, and a rogue together, giving him armor right between the two, and a pet to add some damage and soloing options (at least on the melee level). (for those who cant see what im saying, wingclip=hamstring, evasion=deterrence, cheetah=nerfed sprint, if we extend this to beyond melee our stings are similar to rogues poisoning stuff, and aimed shot with its instant damage coming out of nowhere when surprising an enemy is alot like a rogues coming out of nowhere to instant dmg you and good hunters can surprise ppl like this sometimes, and I could probably go on).

This is probably the reason that these three classes come to clashes about gear so much. ALL of us need strong melee gear to survive, some more than others, but the fact is we still NEED the gear, especially those of us with certain builds. We were designed with very similar needs, and the many people i see who are arguing that a hunter has as much right to take this kind of item as a rogue does to take a +agi bow over a hunter or a warrior to take a high dps bow over a hunter just arent looking at the whole picture. (see the thread on runeblade of the baron of rivendare for some real idiots) I agree that they do have a right to improve their ranged damage, but they can do fine in blues that hunters don't need, or even just have an epic gun made if they need something stronger, a little extra damage on a pull for warrior/rogue=nothing, a little better chance of escaping melee for a hunter=the difference between life and death, play our class endgame before you tell us otherwise if you disagree however im going offtopic so...I'm done.

I got this trinket and i am a rogue and its really usefull. i use it with blackhand and its a pretty good combo. Wariors can use it also cuz they are pur melee.

yeah this is a cool trinket for a hunter, but as its really easy to get blackhand's breadth and the Dire Maul library trinket (which is pretty much the best trinket combination for a hunter) I don't see the need to roll on this.

I run tribute all the time... I have some large brilliants that were once this thing I'm pretty sure

I'll take two tarnished elvin rings from that beautiful ogre chest, oh wait! I already did.

Personally, I don't understand why a hunter would want this, even if it was passed to them. Royal seal is +48 attack power, Blackhand's Breadth is +2 crit. You don't need any other trinkets except for the Devilsaur Eye from the level 50 quest for bosses and maybe the PvP corporal trinket. Skip it, the 22 melee attack power can be made up quickly. I understand the appeal of the +1 parry for using counter attack; however, deflection already gives a 10% chance to parry which is plenty for me.

i noticed a few ciomments on counterattack lodestone vs HoJ, and would like to make a quick comment on parry, which may have gone unnoticed. after parrying an attack, your weapon timer resets. ie if i hit with a big 3.8 spead mofo weapon, and parry less than a second after then my weapon timer resets, and i get another hit with my big mofo weapon.

this is an excellent pvp trinket for warriors that weild big slow weapons, counterattack hunters, riposte rogues and enhancement shamman with the parry talent.

offered it to our warrior, but she picked up a decent ring from the tribute run and didn't want to take too much. so i (rogue) got it :) i switch up my specs from combat swords to assassination/subtely once in awhile, so this'll be nice to have.

These Abilities are instantly applied when you are wearing the trinket and are always there until you remove the trinket

Shame that my server NEVER runs any tribute runs, or any DM runs at all....Would love this for my Combat Rogue, +1 Parry would really help getting those Ripposes in PvP :)

Not that good for a hunter imo, decent but theres better.

i dont believe there is such a thing as 'equip'- passive is what it does without activation, only being equipped in the trinket slot. Use is when you click it and it does something.

Ok, a few things, since there seems to be a lot of questions about this.

NOT Unique. You can indeed have, and use/equip, 2 of these.

Gordok Tribute Chest has MORE Blues if you Kill LESS bosses while you are in there. The more bosses you kill, the less Blues will be in the Chest. Cool? Cool. :-)

Upon Equipping this item, you will have an increase of 22 attack Power, and your Chance to Parry will increase by 1%. If you UNequip this item, you lose said Increases.

You have a Better chance of getting this from the Tribute Chest than you do of getting it off Cho'Rush.

Great for a Survival Hunter, Combat Rogue, OT Warrior, or Enhancement Shaman. I, as a Combat Rogue, have been trying to get Tarnished Elven Ring, and this little badboy, only to have Hunters win over me every damn time it drops. I'm beginning to get aggravated, as I've seen 4 of these, and 3 of the ring drop so far, and have yet to win a single one... BUT with patience, I will get mine.\
