Very helpful item but doesnt work all the time. It can be a life saver or a dud but if your entire group wipes and you happen to have these you defintly should use them.

I've found this of extremely particular importance as a substitue combat ressurection. If you're a rogue or hunter, you can vanish/feign death to quickly exit combat and attempt a ressurection on a dead raid member and pray it works. Recently though, I've noticed it has failed every time I've used it, or my friend used it. It may be bugged. And this is after about 40 uses since last patch, out of which only 3 worked.

This is all subjective of course, but I'd personally put the success rate at about 60%. However, I seem to have a higher success rate on lower level people. Entirely possible that it's just co-incidence but worth mentioning all the same.

I haven't used these before, I have a hunter that has picked up Engineering (lvl 50 now), but these look interesting.

It's just that in my experience after using a trinket you can switch it out for another. For example, on my mage I might use the Nifty Stopwatch, then switch to Blazing Emblem or Carrot on a Stick.

On the other hand, what's the cooldown on these? Or do they have 1 charge?

This Trinket is a must for any Engineer. Its has helped so much. Even if you have ressurection, this is a seperate cool down.

The big question for 2.3 will be, will the FD - rezz trick work?
Tho now most (if not all) raid encounters make it impossible anyway cause you get an aggro pull (or how ever it works) it would still be a very valuable thing outside the 25 man raids, especially now you dont have to wait 30 seconds to charge them.

these things was prolly the prime reason along with bombs that I chose Engi, my, atm lvl 36, warrior do gd with explosives as 2ndary dmg :D

they drop off the barkeeper in BRD, soloable as anyclass past lvl 65-66, combat escapers more fun tho, farmed em with my lvl 70 rogue, went for the fiery wep formular at boss 7 also on all tries, 3 forms and the cables in a couple hours, didnt mind spend some time there rather than wait... :D

Over the past several months I've added up all the successes and failures. At exactly 50 successes and 56 failures, I can confirm that the success rate is ostensibly 50% for all level 70 targets of a broad variety of classes. Furthermore, the success/fail ratio has remained stable since I began tracking it, although there are streaks of successes and failures (ie six successes in a row, likewise for failures). These tend to even out over time, although as you can see I'm currently in a failing streak.

I update these stats after every cables use. I am now tracking the rez rates of the Gnomish Army Knife. You can find those statistics here.

You don't have to be a goblin engineer to use this item. To learn the schematic ( https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=18653 ) does require you to be one. But you can buy this off the auction house or ask a goblin engineer to craft it for you if your a gnomish engineer.

These used to be plausible for a battle rez before they changed FD mechanics, granted you had to sit out of combat for 30 secs to get the cables primed (time I usually took to fill up my mana supply with some water). Sad you can't do that anymore. Actually, it might still work during a regular fight, but I've never had the need to try.

not that i have personal experience with the cables, but i've found that vanish, feign death or invisible do not remove you from combat versus raid bosses (kara, gruul etc) but do from none raid bosses

as a mage i like using invis then drinking on some long fights, but tried versus a raid boss (nightbane and prince), and never actually left combat, just reset my aggro

so, on that basis, you can use the FD cable trick in any situation bar a raid boss (which is where it'd be most useful -,- )

My GJCXL have not proced in months. same with my regular cables. any1 else having a crummy rate? ive been resing all lvl ranges...form my lvl 20 noob friend who dies alot to raids.

On my warlock I found the jumper cables (and these upgrades) useful on many occasions. The most common being when we're about to whipe, and all the normal res classes are already making friendly with the cold hard floor before I can place the soul stone on them. so I can place it on myself, die, and then res a normal res class and save everyone a walk. Very handy, worth the mats.

Look, either read THIS page, or read the ITEM's TOOLTIP. Requires 265 Engineering to USE. Requires Goblin Engineer to MAKE. This means:

1) An engineer with at least 265 skill and specialising in Goblin Engineering can learn the schematic, create the cables, and use them.

2) An engineer with at least 265 skill and specialising in Gnomish Engineering (or neither) can NOT learn the schematic, can NOT create the cables, but CAN use them. Buy them off a Goblin Engineer and equip them.

3) A noob with more gold then sense can buy the item, but not use it. If you DON'T have engineering of at least 265, you cannot equip the cables, and you cannot use them. You can resell them, but the fact is, you still didn't READ the item before you bought it.

An awesome idea on trying to have your buff and pet at the same time with the jumper cables. However, you can only use the cables when out of combat. Since, to my knowledge, a lock has no way of ending combat, the cables are not useful for battle rezzing your pet.

And since locks have a way of rezzing (soulstone), it makes the jumper cables kinda useless.

I would say it makes the most sense for either a rogue or hunter to go goblin engineering just for the chance to rez in the event of a wipe.

I would suggest telling your groups self rezzers not to use their talents until you have at least TRIED to rez with the cables. This way if it works your group has one more self rez in the bank for later in the instance. If it fails, someone can just self rez and the group is no worse off. The cool down for the cables is shorter than most self rez talents (30 minutes versus 40-60 minutes).

From my experience, they seem to work better if you try to use them on people around your own level. Used em to rez our healer in many instances, but couldn't rez my guildies lvl 60 running me thru things :) hope this helps

Through experience I've found that the animation effect doesn't matter. It is as random as rezzing the person. If it shows it backfired, I've rezzed someone and I also haven't rezzed someone. If it shows no backfire charge I didn't rez them or I have rezzed them :/

Here are the facts on the Goblin Jumper Cables XL:

Required to Craft: 265 Goblin Engineering
Required to Use: 265 (Goblin-or-Gnomish) Engineering
Jumper Cables (Non-XL) Success Rate: 10%-25% (depending on set)
Jumper Cables XL Success Rate: 70-85% (depending on set)

It's rumored that a 300 Engineer will have a higher chance for them to work than a 265 Engineer would.

Druid - 75%
Mage - 60%
Warlock - 60%
Warrior - 50%
Shaman - 0%
Priest - 0%
Paladin - 0%

Hunters have Feign Death, Rogues have Vanish, adds another chance every 30 minutes for Druids, (Frost) Mages are good at staying alive, (some stupid) Warlocks tend to soulstone themself, warriors are goood at staying alive, and shaman/priest/paladin have a no-cooldown resurrection spell, so these are useless for them.

Releasing Spirit is a myth as far as these cables go. Someone who has released spirit has just as much of a chance to be able to resurrect as someone who is still in their body.

scince tbc mages can get invisiblity at high lvl this can be used to break aggro in instance and means these jumper cables are fantastic i often am able now to survive and get the main healer back up and get party back on way quick so i would say that previous post that put usefullness at 60% for mages is now 100% usefull

Oh yeah, i forgot something. Releasing your spirit does absolutely nothing. The whole point of Blizzard giving people that option is so that if someone in their group loots something, the person that has not released their spirit has a chance to roll on it.

I remember when i was in mara on last boss and the rogue vanished when we wiped (or it was a hunter what ever..) then ressed me so i could ress the otherts.

Just great becuse it would have sucked to run back.

As from patch 2.3 (currently on public test realms), jumper cables will no longer be a trinket. They will be directly usable from your inventory, eliminating the 30sec trinket equip cooldown.

i got it with my mage with tbc it is SO usefull! i simply use invisibility then i rez them!

it is now usefull for mage/rogue/hunter =P

From my experience (so far), these have 'blown up' on me once, but were not destroyed. I got back a bunch of materials from them being "ruined", but I still have them in my trinket slot (and they are still usable).

I can't even begin to count the number of these I've sold...can't make them fast enough. So many more people go Gnome engineer and want a pair of these babies for obvious reasons.

Just one more reason why Goblin Engineers rock the Kasbah.

as of 1.5, these no longer explode. they also increased the chance for both of the cables to work. i only used the normal ones, and before the patch it was maybe a 2% chance, now it looks to be around 10% or maybe even more. i would only think that the XL also received the chance upgrade, in any case im sure they have a higher chance to revive then the older ones. i don't think blizzards intention was for you to sink your materials and eat same cooldown just for a smaller chance.

Well I am dissapointed. Took me ages to get these babies and out of the 5 times ive used it so far, its worked 0.

These definitely are better than normal cables -- for me they work more than they fail, implying a 60% rate, or maybe even 75%. I've used them around 20 times in total. Someone should post an exact figure on this.

And no they're not BoP, but since everyone picks gnomish engineering it might be hard to find a goblin engineer to make a pair.

My normal cables work 1 in 3 times. However it is vital the dead person does not do release spirit otherwise they never work.

I believe with the normal ones they have a 30 min cooldown, so it's a 1/3 chance of it working. However with these you can try again. I think.

I have had these for 3 weeks now and not once have they worked. In my opinion the normal easy ones work much better.

And no, you cant use both of them, theyre on the same timer.

The best thing I've seen done with these is; Both our pallys flubbed their DI on a wipe and DI'd me (A druid with a B-Rez down), and a Hunter. All we had up after a wipe was myself, and two hunters, all engineers. You are able to pass the jumper cables between each other since the cooldown on them is for the person, not the cables. so we were able to get a priest up by zapping her 3 times with the same cables

Why are the comments about not being able to get out of combat heavily downvoted? They are factually correct and relevant to this item.

I was in Gruul's lair and Kara last night and the only time on a boss fight feign death will drop you from combat is when no other players are on the bosses threat table(namely they died) - Before the change you could tell if Feign Death had resisted because you wouldn't drop combat, this is no longer the case and additionally things like boss auras can trigger you to be back on the threat table meaning the boss will kill you before resetting.

I believe these used to have a 100% success rate but it was nerfed to the point the item rarely works. Overall not particularly useful and the reason for them being in this state is not justifiable given the combat restriction.
