Around 30-40% drop rate, easy Q (lvl56-59 mobs). Best to go to the south, because there are fast respawn time

Spots for the Owlbeasts : #1(59, 59) , #2 (65, 60) , and (64, 16). Has a pretty decent drop rate when you have the quest. For easier respawn timing, just travel back and forth between #1 and #2 locations. That way when you go from one place to the other, the Owlbeasts will have respawned. That is unless, someone else is doing the Wild Guardians quest (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=4721). Or doing the Raging Blood quest for the Warlock Epic Felsteed Questline (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=7631)

The drop rate is great in Owl Wing Thickett - 65,60. I got all 30 in less than an hour.

Very interesting quest here.

The drop rate as mentioned by Wowhead states about 10% average (give or take), I found it to be probably more like 25%, but it may have just been a lucky day for me.

Head over to 65, 60 as already mentioned, there is a wealth of 56+ Owlbeasts that drop what you need, just make a nice rotation, with any luck you'll have the place to yourself (I did).

I also learned the meaning of efficient mana useage! Never once did I sit to drink, only occasionaly sat there to let my voidwalker consume shadows and restore some health, i suppose I could have healed him myself? Oh well lol.

To give an indication. Droprate was as follows for me:
Berserk Owlbeast: 17/54 -- 31%
Moontouched Owlbeast: 10/52 -- 19%
Crazed Owlbeast: 3/29 -- 10%

I have 15 and I just hit 30 minutes, should take about an hour or so.

This item is a quest item, so u can't go there with a lvl 70 char and take the item....But u can still have a lvl 70 friend to help you.

more like two out of every three drops... just go north east of everlook and fight hte lvl 57, 58, 59 ones ...

I got them like 90% of drops..

Just finished collecting all 30..

took me a few hours of straight grinding for them

they seemed to come in waves, e.g I would get 3-4 in a row, then nothing for 10 or so owlbeasts

glad ive finally finished it now though

I've had this drop from all of the wildkin I believe including the ones with mana. But what I have noticed consistently is anyone that becomes enraged will drop it after you kill them... so if its about to die maybe lay off a sec and see if it will go berserk. But maybe its just a coincidence.

This took about 2.5 hrs of farming 137 owlbeasts. Only met a couple hostile allies and by the time I ran back from GY they were gone. Decent drop rate on the Moontouched owlbeasts, here is what I got:

Moontouched Owlbeast 29% (17/59)
Crazed Owlbeast 19% (6/32)
Beserk Owlbeast 13% (6/46)

which makes a total of 21.1% drop rate.

Last night I got 14 blood in about 1/4 drops. Tonight not a singe drop for the entire session.

drop rate for me at the winterspring location NE of everlook (hiddden grove) is as follows:
crazed owlbeast 67% (8/12)
moontouched owlbeast 44% (14/32)
Berserk owlbeast 27% (8/30)

i brought some runecloth bandages, and im demon build...never had to stop for eat/drink. Had several cases of 5 in a row, then several with none. Started slow, but sped up in the end.

Yes I have been at this for almost an hour and I have around 20... It helps if you find a random who is killing them and invite them, that way you get the blood their owlbeasts drop too. I play on a normal server which sucks since when some alliance people are killing them there is nothing u can do but try to steal kills.
Still at least its better than trying to get 30 ghost mushrooms for the next bit...

The drop rate is way better in "The Hidden Grove" and the surrounding area....dont go to the south!

Crapload of them at Owl Wing Thicket, there is 3 caves stationed there and they are everywhere, center of this place is 66,61 and on map it is north east of Frostwhisper Gorge :) GL! did this quest in just under 40 minutes, so easy, a caveman could do it!

They spawn faster than i can kill them, there is at least 35+ there :)

OMG i've been at this for like 2 hours now the drop rate is horrible, i'm a level 60 demon/afflic spec and i can kill them faster then they respawn

Took me about 110 kills, demo lock. Was rested so was glad to have some decent grinding at least.

trust me the beserker's drops the raging best's blood most..
and if u wanna save mana and kill many a long time to get it use 1 shadow bolt and send felguard on the mob and use a curse of agony and do the rest wit hwand kills him on like 10 secs and only usig 600 mana

Don't know what's up but been grinding on these guys for over a week, lost count on kills but went ep a level killing them at 56 and not one drop.

Well I just went and checked the auction house to see how much it would cost to buy it, and there wasn't ANY so I guess you really have to get it yourself.

Ok these only drop while you are on the quest since they say "Quest Item" meaning that the are only usable in that quest and blizzard doesnt want you to cheat. Also the Drop Rate must be awful on these i mustve killed 50 and i got 1!

...at 70. I had to clear the area about 5 times, but at 70 they can't spawn fast enough. I'm only doing it because I still think the warlock epic mount is the coolest epic mount in the game and I want one! But then, I would think that, I've done about 180 levels as a warlock now...

Very easy to grind.. corruption, curse of agnoy and sipphon life on like 4-5 owls and they die really fast.. think i killed over 100 and i got 19 vials of blood..kinda fun when you own them so much! =)

About an hour's worth of grinding at level 64. I got 30 after 74 kills as follows:

Berserk Owlbeast 50% (6/12)
Crazed Owlbeast 42% (11/26)
Moontouched Owlbeast 35% (13/36)

The grind spot is the Owl Wing Thicket with the entrance at 63.1, 59.0 in Winterspring. Head east and just circuit through the thicket about 4-5 times. Respawn is fairly quick.

You should get a few sellable,if not usable, items as well.

once in each 3-5...I'm grinding at the caves (see on the map the spot with many caves), I've always hated drops quest, but overall doing the dreadsteed quest is gonna save you 200-300g in average assuming you bought all the mats, and an inventory slot ofcourse.

you might want to acompany this quest with some other owlbeasts quest, one of them starts in felwood, I was too lazy to fly there to take it.

I'm not sure about the ppl getting a 1 in 3 drop rate... I just started this quest tonight, and have found 3 in 41 Owlbeast kills. Maybe that's not a perfect sample, but so far this is feeling like the only people who will get through this are the ones who have a really, really deep hatred for Owlbeasts. Like, one killed your Dad, or slept with your sister. That kind of hatred.

One hour and ten minutes later, I have 30 vials of blood, as well as 52 Giant Eggs, 93 Ironfeathers and 6 Elegant Writing Tools. You can do the math, I'm too dazed.

Any of the Owlbeasts in Winterspring drop this. The largest group is in the north east corner, followed by the southeast. If too many warlocks are still on the quest and are farming these out, you can also kill the ones that are spread out along the north side of the road between Felwood and Everlook.

I've been having good luck with the drop rate from the RAGGED owlbeasts in western Winterspring.

Perhaps the drop rate was increased in TBC.
