Mosshoof Coursers have low spawn rate as well. I have been grinding them fo 30 mins and i have only found like 10-15 of them... and none of the perfect antlers. But best place to Grind them is to the south.. South of the Nagas and the Shore.

The drop rate is low. i expected to be out a while... i tihnk i took a longer time finding them and riding to them. probly 8-9min total for me. i just got lucky i guess.

However the good news for you is. they dont attack you on there own so getting alot of aggro isent a big deal. there is some gryphon looking things around. the will attack on site

I used to be one of the ones that believed you had to kite the coursers to get the antlers to drop. On my first hunter I killed 80+ of the coursers before trying kiting, and then both dropped within the next 10. This time around, I started with standard pet tank and fire away tactics. My first dropped in 3 kills. My second dropped in 9. Yes, I know how lucky I am.
Hunt them in the south, I find fewer hostile mobs and on both hunters my drops have been there.

Took me less than 20 kills and I got both. Maybe I'm just lucky. The spot I found the most seemed to be around 48, 21 and a little North. Found 2 or 3 there, then headed north, found another two, and noticed two more again at 48, 21. I don't know why they re-spawned so quickly, but it turned out pretty well for me.

As irritating as this quest can be, its a skinner/leatherworker paradise. all those antlers and the skystormers yield thick or rugged leather. besides, they give decent xp too. I'm not finding this as irritating as the Undamaged Venom Sac quest. I've been hinting for 45 minutes. Still haven't got even 1. I'm still happy.

was killing them for about 2 hours before i got my first. then i cudnt find anymore so had to wait for respawns which was a while. but the amount of experience made it all worth. i was gettin 678 rested at lvl 52.

I have killed 40k worth of xp and only 1 has dropped!1

Averaging backward from the total Xp gained and Xp of last killed--I killed (apx) 158 of these to get my 2 horns. I tried all of the above techniques and then some...in a number of areas.

The reality seems to be it is just luck of the kill, this is a hunter "grind" quest either you can deal...or not

truth is, it wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for all the hippogriffs, spiders, and other s--- that keeps attacking you in these areas

Wow this sucked. Took me forever to get the first one up north. Actually, the first one dropped after about 30 minutes but i spent another 90 minutes and couldnt get the second. I moved down south to the lake and the second one dropped on the second kill. Probably luck, but who knows. I was just north of Lake Menar, by the Forlorn Ridge opening, or what looks like an opening on the map.

Anyway the only thing I learned that may help others is that if you come to an area with tons of the flying mobs but few Coursers, and you cant find a good concentration of the Coursers... Kill everything. They share a respawn chance, so they only way to get the Coursers to come is to kill the other things also. If you just kill Coursers, there's a 50% chance that a flying mob will take it's place and there will be fewer Courser's at respawn.

I went to an area with 1 Courser and 10 Flying mobs, I killed everything. I got XP, and 10 minutes later the place was packed with Coursers.

I can confirm earlier mentioned bug, highlighted 15 seconds, went afk, dropped immediately after about 200 kills with nothing.

Finally, Success!

After 100 kills with no antlers dropping I tried kiting them with freezing trap, rapid fire and the bow only. My pet was on passive and I didn't use it at all. Got 2 antlers in a row.

I think the secret is to kill them with only ranged weapons in order to avoid damaging the antlers.

I got both my drops on the level 53 Cousers and killed numerous level 52s and got zero drops.

They are around Thallasian Base Camp and Legash Encampment. I killed around 60 of em them the antlers dropped on each of the next 2 I killed.

spent 4 weeks straight, 9 hours a day doing only this and nothing else. then on the 5th week got 2 in a row. -_-

ive killed around 130 and gotten only one antler.i really hate this quest.i might as well come back to it later cause ive already spent 3 2 1/2 hours on it.

Spent 2 hours in the northen area killing coursers, not one, moved the the lake in the south, 2 dropped first 2 kills.

50,74 - Good concentration of these Coursers with minimal threats around.

Lake Mennar is the place to go around 40.80.

Killed about 10 of the Coursers and got what we needed.

Confirmed Lake Mennar just east. Many Coursers there...BEWARE of several elites there as well. I got my two quickly once I moved into this area. I found mine at 44.80 but feel you could have gotten them near 40.70 Level 51 Night Elf Hunter. Abandoned quest once. Not a very good drop rate but hope reward is there at the end. 7350xp 1s 58c payout.

only took me about 6 kills both of them dropped from lvl 53's idk if higher levels have better drop rates? but i killed 3 lvl 53's and 2 out of 3 of them dropped them.

The drop rate for these items is terrible. Over 65 kills on the 52 & 53 Coursers to the North before my two drops. Both drops came off of the Level 52 Coursers, so just kill EVERYTHING in your path.

Use track beasts to help you locate the neutral Coursers and avoid the Hippogryphs.

If you're a Blood Elf, be sure to Mana Tap & Torrent the Skystormers if they add to help with uptime.

DAMN THE PEOPLE AT BLIZZARD ARE SMOKEING SOMETHING MUCH MORE POWERFUL THEN WINSTONS!

Just try hitting with your bow or gun or crossbow no melee hits and that may do it and why the hell are there elite dragons there?

Blizzard is hireing monkeys? And from the looks of it the monkeys have found there secret stash...

A second longer and i would have told the rope wearing bear to get the damn antlers him self...

Kill 165 and finally got it. I started by killing the low level ones, but then I went north and started to kill the level 52-53 ones, and got both of my antlers off those guys

I think I actually got it after 2 more kills, but it was 3 of them I pulled with a multi-shot...

Could have been a LOT worse...

Just to confirm, go down in the area SE of Forlorn Ridge and the ruins. The drop rate for me was 100%. 2 coursers killed, 2 perfect antlers dropped.

I heard something on my hunter (this was a long time ago btw) that when you type /afk and bring the deer to u with shots, then have your pet do all the work so it dies at your feet, it's a 100% chance of dropping. Having farmed deer for nearly an hour and a half and not one antler, I decided to try that. Could of been a coinicidence, but I got both on the next two kills when i typed /afk and killed it.

Don't make the mistake, thinking that there's been a recent defukerization of this quest... It's still about a 3% drop rate.

Make sure you're killing the Mosshoof COURSERs

The droprate kinda makes sense... finding perfection.. Unlike not getting blood from 10 @#%^ing helboars.

I got two antlers in just 6 kills, but maybe I was lucky. However, since this is a quest item drop, I wouldn't read too much into the low drop rate, as I'm sure lots of these coursers get killed by people who don't have the quest.

Took me about 30 mosshoof coursers to complete this 2nd one dropped immediatly after the first. Guess i've been abit lucky seeing how long it took some other players.

Damn - be prepared for the long haul coz this quest is a %^&*.
Everything about this quest sucks: the droprate, the scarcity of the coursers, the hundreds of hippogryphs getting in your way.
Eww i hate it. Took me an hour and a half and 37 coursers.

My friend said i had to trigger the drop, I tried many things from kiting the mob without touching me to killing him without him touching anything when enraged and when i got my 2 Antlers (2 in a row) i tried killing them as fast as possible when they enraged, maybe its just luck but future people that that might kill 150 Coursers, you guys might consider trying it ;)

These antlers are needed for a hunter quest in Azshara that's given by Ogtinc. I killed close to 60 of the mosshoof coursers and not a single one dropped. I finally gave up and decided to do it later...anyone had good luck finding these?

Mosshoof Coursers, at least on the northern peninsula, share spawn with all the hippogryphs and chimearas. Clearing an area of the many, many hippogryphs people leave behind, got me a lot of wonderful coursers to kill, and get the Hunter quest done quite easily.

got my first after 51 kills and 2nd one after 55... thank god.
you should kill hippogryphs and chimeras since they have the same spawn as those deers. suddenly I had 5 deers on the same spot lol

24 kills for the first to drop. 14 in the north, 10 in the south. 6 more in the south before the second dropped. 30 total.
