After completing the quest this was still in my bags. I'm assuming that it's ok to toss.

The Withered Protectors can drop multiple Rotting Wood. I killed two during this quest and the first one dropped 1, the second dropped 3. If you feel you can take them on (as they are a little higher leveled than the rest of the mobs in this area), it is worth it.

These have an insane drop rate from the Stompers and Wanderers. I just cleared the area of them and got 1 in the two hours I was doing it for. Very demoralising. :(

The rate of 2% is way off. It's closer to 35 to 40%. I wonder how it can be off that much. A Warlock quest requires 10 rotten wood. At 2% that's 1 in 50 or 10 in 500!

Maybe Blizzard changed it in a recent patch?

Killed around 12 of em now, without one single drop.. But hey, just my bad luck..

seemed to be about 20% after i got my 7th wood but after that it took 15 kills to get 1 more so the droprate is a bit luring.

edit: the last 2 woods took at least 25 kills to get from the irontree stompers.
I think the droprate is 8% so don't expect to be done with this quest fast

I've just done this q with my 50lock.
It took about 1h to get these wood.
I think that drop rate from stompers is about 10-15% so if u are lucky u will be able finish this fats. Next thing really important-try to hunt wanderers-i've got 100%drop of them!
And watch out for these protectors;)

This rate sucks. Dont listen to anything, I killed a protector, one drop, what I did find out is that every Tom, !@#$, and Harry likes to hang out here, so it takes awhile. I also discovered that most of my drops came from Wanderers and Lvl 53 Stompers.

u saw the wandering protectors walking around in the area ? kill them, i killed 2 of them ( not so hard if ur lock just fear and dot em), and both of them dropped 3 woods! took my about 10-15 to finish this,just killed some trees after that and dropped pretty quick

Ok i think that if u are killing the small ones u are just wastin time. Nearly every big tree guy rops the wood, and only 1 from 10 drops from the smaller ones.

Im starting to think 2% is actually right, ive killed.... say 30 of them and i have 1 wood, i cant kill the 56 protectors yet either, so.. im basically $%^&ed.

yeah the small ones do drop less but the big ones do drop alot. I'm 50 though so i have to time it very well to kill them

Killed around 10-15 Irontree and 1 Protector then i had 10 rotting wood..

Done in 10-15min at 49, 23

I don't understand... I only killed about 12, and 1 Protector, and I got all the wood I needed. Took me maybe 10 mins.

Nice to know is that i killed protector who dropped 3 rotten wood :)..

It barely dropped for me. It took me very long to get it and i hated doing it.

the wood droped about 1 and 3-4 kills for me but when i killed one of the withered protectors it droped 3 of the rotting wood ^^

That's odd. Somehow I managed to collect 11 rotting wood, and now that I've turned in the quest, I have one remaining wood.

Before anybody else catches it, I'll suck the fun out of the "I have one remaining wood" jokes.

Quite an easy quest to finish
i got 23.33% drop rate overall
but the protector i fought dropped 2 rotting wood and quite a nice green
easy to complete at lvl 53

mine were dropping 1 out of maybe 2 or 3 on the smaller guys - haven't seen any of the bigger ones

Took ages to get all the wood, but they also dropped some nice greens for me. By the way, beware the Withered Protector. It likes to sneak up on you at the worse possible moment.

Drop rate sucks on here, but it didn't take me TOO long to get it, round 1-2 hours tops. No clue on kill number, prob was getting 5-8% drop rate however.

Also, if you can get one of the 54-55 Protectors that wander the area, they can drop 2 at once. I Killed 2 of them, 1 on first, 2 on second. Easy 3 logs in 2 kills.
