If there what i think they are, they are found on the isle of dread south of feathermoon hold in Ferelas.

They are lvl 55+ elites if i remember right, but i have never seen them drop meat and i ground on them for ages lvl'n to 60.

But that was long time ago, so maybe it has changed

i can confirm that the elite chimaeroks on the isle mentioned by the above poster drop this meat at a rate of maybe 25%. 2 manned with 2 hunters earlier today. definately not soloable.
we notices a named chimaerok in the area as well, beast lore revealing he has 320000 health and hits for 900. i dare a group to kill him, maybe theres the next clue.

We just killed Lord Lakmaeran on "Die Silberne Hand" with 17ppl.
Only thing that dropped was a "Forked Tongue", but we haven't had the quest.

ok, im hunter, i grab my nature res gear and i reach 180(sandstalker + aura + hearth of joxxion + pythoskin shoulder), i went with a pala to the isle of dread to see those chimaerok and maybe drop some fresh meat.
there are 3 types of there, Chimaeroks (the normal ones) the arcane ones, and the devourers.
the devourers are totally not doable, cause they fly and hit u for thousands damage, even with a priest and a tank u drop in dps and is wipe.
the arcane ones, shoot u (me) with lightining breahts (nature damage) with my high nat ress i can take half or 1/3 or resist the damage, so even a pally can tranquil heal me during the fight. by the way the arcane have a nasty reflect ability so watch out.
the normal chimaeroks are the easiest, they only ranged, and shoot me with their breaths (ofc i was keeping aggro with distranting shot, any of these btw, will hit hard a melee class)

Raynaden is correct, these can be solo'd quite easily by locks.

There are 2 entrances, pull from the middle, and then head down the south side of the island, dotting all the way. Make sure of course to keep renewing them or else you will meet Mr. Evade.

Don't try the Arcane's, or else you will end up with your dots reflected back - nasty! I haven't tried the Devourers, but i imagine they hit pretty hard too, so i just pulled the regular elite's with the 30-33K HP. An Arcane "guards" both entrances, but with the middle entrance if you skirt the side on your way out, the bird has little chance to aggro it.

Neat place. Tenderloin drops so far about 50% (out of 4 kills).

I farmed these for 3 hours today, killed about 15 of the regular Chimaeroks and got absolutely "zero" tenderloins.

Have the drop rate on these been nerfed?

Killed 6 so far (2 arcane, 4 regular).
Soloed as holy priest.
So far Meat looted : 0

I did kill the boss with some guildies, boss dropped 4x Meat !

I still need 7 to complete the damn quest.

Anyway - Just wand, sw_p, occasionally holy fire + devouring plague (yay for undead).
While healing yourself. Piece of Cake

good equiped hunters can kill the Chimaeroks solo, without potions

Drop rate is definatly not what is stated here. It is more like 5-15%.

I just revisited these guys at level 70 (affliction warlock) since I had the quest sitting in my log since the bwl days =p

the regular ones are easy. you'll resist most of their attacks at level 70. I usually came out of the fights with more health and mana than I started.

arcane ones are medium... sucks to have to stop dps or risk nuking yourself...

devourers seemed hard at first, but if you're careful with a voidwalker tank, they're no problem.

The droprate is nowhere near 25%...

It's not even 10%, seems like 2-5%........

droprate is closer to 50% from my experience.

solid 5man team is able to farm these, doing with more about 8-10man is optimum for respawn time.

I can confirm the 25% drop rate, me and some friends went out and killed em for a few hours. 3 people can handle farming them without downtime.

the Chimaerok's and Arcane Chimaerok's are easy soloable, you kite them, when they start to cast, run out of range, and just use autoshot+multishot and serpent sting.

These are needed for the Scarab Lord quest chain. The guide (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/guides/scepter-of-the-shifting-sands-scarab-lord-legendary-mount) said they can be farmed in advance. I went there today and killed somewhere between 10 and 15 mobs with 0 drop and gave up. I guess the meat doesn't prior to the event (like it was with the Twilight texts). There are 3 different kind of mobs, 1 kind has ~22k hp, the other 2 have ~32k hp. The mobs are immune to slow/fear/sheep but they are stunnable. As an insanely geared mage - they can't be soloed. Maybe by a hunter.

Few facts:

30 minute respawn time
The island is okay for 5 member party farming, if someone else is there you will run out of mobs
meat drop rate around 15-20%
We farmed 20 meats under ~75 minutes
