So, anyone have an idea why this would ever be used? It's not like that extra 200 damage is gonna steal aggro in any realistic situation.

It procs off itself. Hopefully, Blizzard will leave this as-is (with the self proc), or buff it to a 30% chance to reduce threat by a half-feint.

For PvE situations this is a virtually 100% replacement for Instant Poison. The damage-loss is negligible and easily weighted up by the threat-saving, and it's a lot cheaper.

A great poison all around. :)

Also since it has an instant effect, of course safe to use around CCers.

This poison is a complete waste of time and money.

In a raiding situation, you should have a protection warrior; and the extra 200 damage from instant poison SHOULD NOT be pulling agro.

Many many fights in raid instances are time sensitive. They have quick enrages where every amount of DPS you can do matters.

Don't be cheap, don't worry about pulling agro. If you pull agro using Instant Poison you need to talk to your tank. It's his fault, lol.

As for poisons for a raiding rogue; you should be using Instant VII in your main hand and Deadly VII in your off hand. That is by far the top damage poison combitnation.

Another fact that's being overlooked:

Your raid dps is controlled by your threat. Generally you feint to control your threat. If you use this poison, you'll feint less, have more energy/CP and actually do more damage.

Proc rate in pre 2.1 TBC is far higher than the tooltip indicates. I don't have any hard numbers but I'd guess its over 30%. For example instant poison does ~9-10% of my overall damage in a PvE situation, Anesthetic Poison however was getting 15-16%.

Using both Instant and Anesthetic Poison, instant on main and anesthetic on offhand, my offhand was running out of charges roughly twice as fast.

LOL at people talking about the cost of posions....are you serious?? At this level your useing major agility,super healing potions,stat food, and heavy netherweave bandage and 10s is a lot? I don't understand...kill mobs get silver.

I only use Anaesthetic when I'm pugging Heroics and don't know or trust the tank. That's not the case in a raid situation so even if Windfury isn't available your next choice is Instant/Deadly.

Raiding rogues do not use Feint or Anesthetic Poison. Vanish, or tell your tank to learn his class.
