While having no stamina, the other effects of the shield are very nice. The resists are handy and if you are offtanking or pvping the silence is nice. Decent armor and block as well.

Slap a +7 Stam enchant on this baby and you are good to go for a while. Plus it just looks so darn cool.

Its a craftable shield using the Large Obsidians that drop off mines in AQ20(One per run) and AQ40. May take several weeks to months to get enough large obsidians to get the shield, gloves, or body armor.

I had this crafted at 60 for my Paladin, was pretty useful in PvP, as not only is there the Melee mitigation, but it also has a way of annoying casters. Good for flag carrying in WSG for example.

Unfortunatly i vendored it during lvl to 70, so i'm not sure if the proc is subjected to the same reduction as other lvl 60 procs. Wishing i'd kept it now.

For those who wants the plan of this shield, go to AQ20 and kill the 2nd boss with keeping the general antonov alive. After the battle, he will sell you (yes, sell....) potions and 2 blacksmthing plans, one of them being this shield.

To he who made the comment about Paladins...Seals are still intended to proc while silenced. They just won't be able to judge for 3 seconds. And in my humble opinion, it won't make much difference for their healing, either, because if they want to heal, they won't be damaging you, and if you can kill a Paladin in the time it takes for the silence to wear off and the Paladin to pop a heal...well, that's either lucky or you've got about +500 spell damage (If you're a Shaman) or...well, a warrior would just be lucky. That's all. I believe this shield was designed specifically to curb complaints from warriors about having no defense against getting focus-fire from pure spellcasters in PvP. If you think it's still inadequate to prevent getting killed by 7 different spells hitting you at once...welcome to my quandary. Even if one did get silenced...you're still dead. 3 seconds really isn't a deterrence for a group of casters deciding who to decimate next. When they make a shield that has a small, but significant, chance to reflect spells, that will be the day when PvP'ing warriors all over the world rejoice and mages kill themselves with combustion pyroblasts. =)

this is for a protection spec warrior for pvp. you can use this proc in hard core instances or anything so yeah procetion spec warriors. wasting time and effort if your not

this excludes pallys and shammys(feel free to us up your stuff to make it)

The proc is confirmed to be working as of 1.11 Test PVP Server.

When the silence effect occurs, the caster will receive a fear icon over their head briefly and the lips debuff icon (similar to succubus').

I love this shield, combine it with the Thick Obsidian chest piece, and casters hate me :)

Frist off it is a nice shiled...what with the revamp of Sheild Slam and all. add in the fact that I as a protection spec warrior already have shield bash at full silance effect plus Con Blow, adding this shield to the mix gives me a nice warm feeling...right where that casters heart is. The additon of the resit bouns is nice also...and the fact that We SMITHS can make such a nice pieace of gear is great.

I've made 4 so far, 3 i just bought the mats in AH for like 500g and sold it for 900g, and the 4th one a random person asked me to craft it for him and pay'd me 300g... about 1500g profit so far!

Thottbot people are convinced that this is a Warrior shield for some reason.

First of all, you can't just walk into AQ20 and take all the shards. 99% of guilds will bank the shards and save them for when they deem it USEFUL for players to have obsidian gear OR will give out shards for DKP. Yes, there are times where guilds or raid groups will allow players to simply roll on or just take all the obsidian in the dungeon but this is relatively rare.

I have said it before and will say it again - this shield is for PVP, especially for shaman and paladins.

OK, yes, there are better shields for them STATS-wise but people really fail at this game when they think that you need 37 healing and some intel like you get from Red Dragonscale Protector in PVP. This shield has a decent block rate, good armor, 2% better chance to block and resistance. It is designed to PROTECT a player not give him stats for healing like Malistar's or RDSP or ZG shield. You have to have block vs. warrior and rogues or you will die, unless you are a good enhancement spec and wield a two-hander, I guess.

Shaman rarely get to roll on defensive shields for PVP like Drillborer or Aegis of the Blood God. In fact, before I could grab a good defensive shield my guild stopped running MC and ZG on a regular basis! No one wants MC loot and almost everyone is exalted with ZG. We get lots of shards from AQ40. This shield gives people a chance to spend a little DKP and pull the mats out of a guild bank for a damn good piece of PVP gear.

Put some Stamina on it and hit the BGs already.

To be able to make this shield..

Need to be a 300 Blacksmith (any specialty like Swordsmith or Armorsmith doesn't matter).
Need to have Revered reputation with Cenarion Circle faction.
Need to go to Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj (AQ20) and kill the 2nd boss in that place without allowing Lieutenant General Andorov to die at any point during the quest. As a reward he will allow you to buy some stuff from him. Including even an EXALTED reputation item. So yes, you need to get to exalted as well and go throught his thing again for another smithing plan.
