Since people usually want to know when and where, heres my details on this misc discovery...

I do have Elixir Mastery (Chance to proc multiple elixirs thus creating extra elixirs, though this in no way shape or form affects chances of a discovery).

Location: Hellfire Peninsula - Temple of Telhamat

Potions I was making = 8 Onslaught Elixirs + 1 Extra proc with my Elixir Masteries and then switched to making Adept's Elixirs and had a double Proc and thus my discovery was on the Adept's Elixirs.

This flask is being completely changed in patch 2.2 to the following:
"Flask of Blinding Light
Requires Level 65
Use: Increases spell damage caused by Arcane, Holy and Nature spells by 80. Counts as both a Battle and Guardian elixir. This effect persists through death."
Materials to craft the flask have been left the same.

Since we're talking about new statistics for this, then I'm asking that age-old question: does this mean damage and healing?

Because if that's the case, it would be an impressive improvement over and above the Elixir of Healing Power (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=22825) and I can't think why a priest would use anything else.

These pots have obvious and significant viability for all of your strong moonkin (boomkin if you prefer). But if this also supports healing done in the holy environment, this thing should sell like hotcakes. I know every priest in my guild would be chomping at the bit to have a few stacks of these.

When patch 2.2 hits, if you have learned the flask of arcane fortification (functionally replaced by flask of chromatic wonder: https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=33208) you will have this instead.

When I discovered this flask recipe, I thought "Flask of Arcane Fortification? What is that? I've never even heard of that before!" and I tried searching for it on WoWHead and got no results. "How could I have learned a flask that doesn't exist??"

I really wish they wouldn't put up next-patch stuff until the patch actually comes OUT. This was confusing me a lot.

If you are Arcane, Holy, Nature and used Flask of Supreme power this is going to be your replacement flask. Good replacement unless you have a lot of herbers on your server gathering a lot of Black Lotus for Supreme, but I'd suspect the market on all servers is going to move to this flask as it's much easier to gather the mats with a flying mount vs riding.

If you are Fire, Frost, Shadow, Flask of Pure Death will be your replacement.

I think the maximum effect of this flask can be achieved only by Balance druids since it boosts both their arcane and nature spells which play a big role in their damage done.

Requirements to make a discovery

You must be crafting a potion, elixir, flask or performing a transmutation that was added in TBC.

As a rule of thumb that's anything that is learnt from a master alchemy trainer, dropped from a mob in outland or purchased from a vendor in outland. The only real exceptions are the pre-TBC flasks that have been made available from faction vendors in outland.

NOT requirements to make a discovery

You don't need to be in outland
You don't need a mastery
You don't need to be 375 alchemy
You don't need to be level 70
You don't need to craft yellow or orange recipes to make discoveries. Even grey recipes can proc discoveries
You don't need to be crafting a related recipe *except* in the case of cauldrons (You can discover flasks when making potions for example)

This is the premier flask for a protection paladin to boost threat. I save these for progression fights due to their cost. I recently tanked Void Reaver and held threat through the 4th threat-reducing hit, which is rather difficult, using this flask and a combined ~688 spell damage. A paladin can actually produce a great deal of threat even as off-tanks on fights like Gruul and Void Reaver if they stack spell damage and keep judgement of righteousness going for mana return.

I'm amazed noone has mentioned this yet. This flask is clearly a referance to the old Manfred Mann song, "Blinded by the Light". Most younger people probably know it as the song from the movie Blow.

Got it today on my lvl 58 alt mage, just by making violatile healing potion for alchemy lvl up, discovered around alch lvl 335. Strange thing though that I got almost all transmute discoveries on my lvl 70 with transmute specialization and nothing else, when non-speced mage got flask as first discovery. Might be luck, but tad bit strange.

Thanks Vrothdar for the list of potions u discover from alchemy because i resently got herbalism and got it to 375 in one day i used google and found a site that showed me the location of a bunch of herbs to lvl it...so im here with all my herbs in g bank taking up room...so i got alchemy and got it up to 352 in one day also! i was stoked because i specced Elixir master and now i am making a bunch of potions for the guild for raiding!

but...about this potion...it was awesome for my Elemental shaman in raids i mean 80 NATURE DAMAGE! thats insane...say hello to my 3-4k lightning bolts stupid bosses with so much health!

Surprised that nobody said this yet, but this flask is godlike for a Moonkin in raiding. Since you do a lot of Nature and Arcane damage, this is your best bet on boosting both.

I am a lvl 350 alch my toon is a 55 and I learned this doing Elixir of mastery potions in SW. It isnt worth making unless u can farm Fel Lotus as one peice on the AH costs 27g atm.

Is there a reason no one on my realm buys them ever? I've had em for as low as 5 for 200g and still, no one buys them. Do they really suck that bad as flasks? Plus, im the only one who can make them.

This used to be Flask of Arcane Fortification, but it was changed to it's current state in the last patch (9/25/07).

It actually gives 80 Spell Damage from Holy, Nature, Arcane spells, 120 minutes, persist through death, counts as both guardian and battle elixir/ Confirmed 08 October 2007 in-game. I dunno why but thottbot still says Arcane resistance..

Hmm, I'm just shooting in the dark here, but, I wonder if Holy dmg might be good for a tankadin...?

These potions are the ONLY potion that any tankadin who can afford them should be using, if they care at all about raising their party's threat cap.

That being said tho... The ingredients are not exactly easily farmable for a solo tankadin spec, in a decent amount of time...

at least not for a recent 70 :] lol

really nice for pallys since they don't focus on spell nearly as much as casters(maybe around 1/2-1/4 of what a caster might have) so 80 spell is alot!

just got this when i was making some shadow power elixirs (i wanted flask of death alot more, but this one is still pretty cool much better than those other flasks or discoverys)

Something for the Holy dps priest. Yay!
My holy/disc priest likes to dps every once on a while.
With a dps gear mainly of lvl 70 blue mage/lock items and a few epic, I end up top of dps meter 99% of the time in Normal 70's instance and with this flask, I can dps heroics and Kara.
Nice if you want full dps on most of run, but need an extra healer on a boss or two and want more healing power than making the feral drood stand up and put on his lvl 60 green healing gear.

With this flask I guess ~975 bonus damage on my smites.

Just for those who are wondering where to learn it, there's a set of recipes that are by discovery only, meaning there is no recipe or trainer in game. You just have to get lucky by making potions/elixirs (only works with Outland-level potions/elixirs), and hope that you discover it.

does anyone know if this flask affects Healing spells at all? or the holy component just bull that isn't going to be of any use to a healer...
I find the +25 mana regen of the resto flask a bit less than necessary as I never run out of mana...

This item was originally Flask of Arcane Fortification, which granted 75 Arcane Resistance and 40 Health per 5 sec (nerfed to 30 resist and 20 hp5 in patch 2.1). The item id itself was overwritten with this current flask, added in patch 2.2.
