I am very curious.

Compare those to the Felsteel Gloves:

Equip: Increases defense rating by 25.
3 stamina more, 5 defense rating less, 26 more resilience rating (0.5% less chance to be critted, 1% less damage from crits - yes its nice, but compared to what defense gives to warriors/paladins its much less), 61 armor less; Yellow socket instead of a Red one.

Yet it's an epic and requires TONS more farming (looking at that Primal Nether and 2 Primal Mights) o_O How come? Is it really worth it?

If the Resilience on these was 26 Parry Rating instead, they'd *almost* be worthy of an Epic; or if they had an equip: immune disarm effect, or even +10 more Stamina. As it is though...they're kind of in a no man's land. I'm hoping Blizz will look at these again and give them a needed buff - they're the only BoE epic plan I've been "lucky" enough to stumble across, and they're just...not even mediocre considering Felsteel are superior and a lot easier/cheaper to make.

Think the idea behind it is that you can double these as PvP items. Some items are amazing, but focus so much on crit or AP or whatever that you're left with very little HP or Resilience, so it's good if you can pump a good chunk of what you need of these into one item, rather than waste all your gem/enchant slots on defensive stats. Also means that tanks can use items they paid so much for in arena/BGs, making it exceptionally cost-effective.

If you would like to see what resilience does, just put your mouse over it and save people the arguements of what it does. If you don't have WoW open or something, just go to www.wowarmory.com and look a random dude up.

Noogiehead on Frostmourne can make these horde side, pst or in game mail if you want it made.

While the defense is nice the resil is redundant since 490 defense makes you uncritable anyway. I guess it does help prevent stuns/incap/etc but still seems like its better to just do Kara till Maiden gives up hers.

Calgus, Horde Kalecgos can craft these. I have the nethers and usually the primal earths.

Noobstomper has the pattern on Thunderlord (horde) - can transfer to ally. Asking average alla price for the pattern, currently 800g.

My friend i'm afraid you fail.

People thinking about getting this are going to be tanks => PVE

Once you have 490 defense you are uncrittable against ANY pve mob, this makes the resilience on this item pretty redundant. I guess you could say it helps slightly for DoTs, but really it's wasted item stats.

wtf... is it me or do these suck, that looks like a very expensive thing to make, have you seen the Felsteel Gloves i think i'll keep those bought those for ~50g and there's no way i'm going to ever change them for something that might be a bit better for ~300-500 + Primal Nether

like it was posted before, felsteel gloves are a much better buy. everyone going ga-ga just because it's a purple should have their heads checked. check the stats people, check the stats.

Felsteel gloves are indeed nice ...
But the epic ones are better, first of all a very tiny bit more sta+ and 3 less defense but ... the epic gloves have resilience. Resiliense doesn't seem important atm if ur not tanking bosses. but believe me if u do, u want every bit of sta and lower crit-chance u can get. 3 defense (rating)won't make that much of a difference but the resilience will. Felsteel gloves are nice ... but the other ones are better.

As a tank shouldn't you have over 490def anyway by which time you should never be crit.

In that case, resilience is useless.

Tank gloves.... forget the socket bonus, it is not worth... so stick 2 gems with Stamina+12 on it for maximum effect =o)

Paladins can tank actually...however to be a good protection paladin and tank raids/instances like kara you need very good gear, unlike warriors who can have average-decent gear and still tank

In my guild we have 2 MT, 1 warr 1 pally, and i think the pally is much better then the warrior :O
Sure warriors are better on 1 mob but in kara there is like 3-4 mobs that needs to be tanked at the same time and then pallys pwn warriors.
And for the guy that said pallys cant tank and had Kara on farm. U dont know &*!@ about Pallys.

One of the biggest wastes of hundreds of gold that I can think of. The only place where this could be used to its fullest potential is being a distraction in a BG, which could be useful at times but most likely you would be much more useful changing specs if you are a pvp person.

Even though they are purple they are pretty much crap, get some felsteel gloves tanks.

Maybe these will get a buff in 2.3? I just got this.. off random trash in Kara. I think with about +100 armor, change Res to HR and these would be nice...

These MIGHT be useful for a DPS warr in Kara.. that doesnt have 490+ def.

Also defense does help in PvP ... a little ... though -6% crit isnt much, granted, it can help... and it does help dodge/parry/block as well (if you have a shield). But then that's why pvp gear has high armor, high stam and resilience.

AFAIK, only mobs that are +3 levels (bosses vs. your L70 toons) can do crushing blows. These are not normally as bad as crits, but then boss can crush for 8K sometimes... depending on your armor and the boss your are facing..... Gruul gets nasty after 10 growth and well after 15 I think he one shots the MT then OT. :)

other options that would make these attractive... would be:
immunity to disarm
+ shield block value (but then there are Maiden's gloves)
+ parry (but then they would be like T4 gloves)
- some cool combo there of.

We will to chain pull in the round room, but its good to have two tanks who are immune to disarm. Prot tanks wont normally have this ... so its DEATH GRIPS for me! :P

Im a prot warrior
first of all i team with a prot pally for kara raids ..It works great and i suggest it for all guilds.

second, i started doin Kara with the Felsteel set. I made it myself. But the fact of the matter is once u start pickn up other pieces and breakn the set bonus on fel steel...these turn out to be a great option

third, 490 is all the def a prot tank needs (DPS tanks dont need def)

fourth and last, where do these plans drop. there is a mention of sunfury mob but which ones?

Just bought the recipe from the AH for 400 golds. I know that I paid too much for it, but it is tough to wait for a cheaper price. Anyway, 400 golds for a level 70 is not that hard to earn.

ive heard a lot of people saying that these are useless because tanks already have max defense. well, that may be true, but think about it - how much of that defense comes from gems? a decent amount. well, with this you can take those gems out of defense and into stam
