i reccamend doing this quest alongside The Arakkoa Threat....you should find both quest creatures fairly near each other...to get the feathers i found you had to kill 2 birds, open the nest and kill a 3rd bird which dropped the kaliri feathers needed

Yeah, the drop rate on this things at the moment is about 1% for me.

25-32% drop rate my freaking arse... have killed over 20 different kaliri's in the haal'eshi den and have only gotten 1 drop... ugh

Attrocious drop rate, certainly not 1 in 3. More like 1 in 8-10. Makes me wanna abandon the quest had it not been for the reward.

Total crap.

I got them all after killing about 30.

Mostly from the hatchlings that spawn from opening the nests.

The female lvl 62 hatchling has over 6000hp, which more than most Hellfire Peninsula mobs. I think Blizzard design team screwed on this one. Shouldn't hatchlings be weak and defenseless?

I totally agree...shouldn't a hatchling be weaker than a full-grown bird.

I guess its just a matter of luck. I got this quest done in about half an hour. The drop rate I got was 1 out of every 2.

Maybe they changed the drop rate...but the feathers dropped for me about every other bird I killed.

This quest sucked.

At level 60 (Rogue) I had no trouble with the 60 - 63 birds and guys, the drop rate is just terrible.

I think I've killed about 25 birds now and I'm at 3/8.

Clearly another attempt by Blizzard to waste the players time while leveling them on grinding mobs instead of entertaining the players with neat quests.

Don't do what I did, skip this quest if it's one of the last quests you have in HFP then don't do it and pretend you did, move on to another zone. If you really need the 10K xp, go grind it, you will be there a lot less time then if you were to grind out these feathers.

LOL I don't know if you're in the right spot. Got mine after only 10 kills. Excelent drop rate...

There are two birds and a nest at 25,71 that you can get to very easily without attracting unwanted enemies. Kill them and wait for respawn. Don't mess with the birds in the ravine... you will be killed by Haal'eshi guards and spend hours wasting time. Just kill the three mentioned above, go elsewhere for other quests you might have, and then come back. Despite the horrible drop rates listed, I got 8 feathers in 10 trips to those three birds. It may not be a lot faster, but it is a lot less painful.

Well, I have now killed 11 and have only looted 1 feather.
This drop rate should be fixed, but Blizzard probably also thinks most people will keep at it for the most amazing hat in the game.

I've read all these posts about terrible drop rates..but I had to kill...probably 20, MAX to get all 8 feathers. Maybe just got lucky? My drop rate was around 1 in 3.

Hope your hunting was as easy as mine!

If the drop is bad, more XP
If the drop is good, faster quest completing...

In TBC Classic Beta drop rate is still bad, 0 drop after like 10 kills.
