The important question is:
Only spell damage, like the Spell Power-Enchant was pre-2.0.1, or spell damage/healing?

If it's the latter, this is kinda superior to the other craftable crown with it's Manaregen-proc, IMO.

Well, some simplified math.
For example you are a mage chain-casting scorches for 150 sec. It will be 100 casts with 2 procs = 20% of your time with 120 spell dmg buff = +24 spell dmg average. If you cast fireballs, you'll get twice less procs and 12 spell dmg average.
Nice stats for 5g green item!
Oh wait, it is 1.5k g epic...

This is not a good item on a warlock. You can run an instance and get a better helmet for free. Or, buy a green off the auction house with more effectivness.

Well it is better for warlocks than anyone else, simply because they can reapply their DoTs when it procs and have them ticking for more past the time you ahve the spell buff.

That's actually not true. Its procs off a successful spellcast, not off each dot tick, after you have applied all your dots, you go back to using shadow bolts etc whilst you wait for your dots to run out, so as a warlock you would probably cast the same amount of spells as a mage or any other caster dps class. Making this kind of worthless. You can get helms that give you a lot more +dmg and are far far better.

This item is a joke, plain and simple. It has no redeeming qualities, and even some random green is preferable.

With some luck it will get buffed at some point to actually become useful, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

, yeah i got this recipy to from durnholde last boss... i was the only jewelcrafter so i was the only1 who was able to roll on it thou my jewelcrafting skill was about 75 when i got it... training of this skill is just so unfriendly for my wallet... <.<, i hope it pays its worth back..

The stats are nice, but it's only a 2% chance for 120 spell damage.

That's like every 50 spell casts you can expect it to proc. You could argue if you had a helm with +spell damage by the time youve casted 50 spells you'd have done more damage by the time it procs.

The mats are ok though, but onced you've farmed all those mats you could get maybe 600g for them. Who will pay about 700g for this helm?

I did some math on this, I might be wrong, but I came up with the following results.

The proc compared to spell damage:

2.5 sec cast time spam (frostbolt) = ca. 13 spell damage

1.5 sec cast time spam (scorch) = 20 spell damage

The higher the cast time the worse the result gets, so 20 spell damage is the max. you can get out of that proc, statistically speaking, because of global cooldown.

i got this made the other day for my lvl70lock.
took a while to get done as i collected everything myself. matts cost about 2500g in AH which sucks but i was lvling at the same time as grinding.

it is pretty pants for solo work as it tends to proc when the mob is almost dead. but in dungeons it is amazing and in large mob and boss fight it constantly proccs.

it does it off every magical effect, so buffing, life tapping, dotting it all goes on. when it does proc i use another trinket at the same time which increase dmg even furthur.

in large mob fights because i am multi-dotting, life stealing, life tapping etc it will proc often without u realising it. in a boss fight of about 3mins it goes off about 5-6 times which is always handy. when it does i mainly lifetap to full mana with it then get a quick drain life on b4 the 15secs are up

btw bigmacus from arathor guild can make it, along with the other cloth circlet. and btw it doesnt have durability, so no repair cost also

This item is awesome for moonspamming druids in battlegrounds. But it is best applied with a nice spelldamage trinket. 6k Starfires are possible with the wsg buff too.

This JC epic Headpeice as well as its partner the Cornet of the Verdent Flame, both Epic with no armour "type" however both having squawt for armour also have NO durabilty, and thus are epics that can not be damaged and do not have to be repaired.

I use a little trick to make it proc.... As some of you know this items procs quite alot even when casting non-damage spells (blink/mana shield/conjuring etc). So if you want to make this proc before fighting/grinding cast "mana shield" level 1 (around 40 mana which at level 70 is poo :P )
several times 'till it ticks and ...burn them all :)

It procs on successful spell cast. As an Affliction lock, in combat, I cast a spell (DoT's, Life taps, Drains, Curses and Amp curses) close to every 1.5 seconds.

With 2% chance to proc on any spell cast and 15 second duration (assuming it doesn't proc again 1.5 seconds later) it seems to me that I can realistically expect to have up to +120 spell damage for 20% of my time spent in combat.

I could be wrong (I didn't do the math on paper) but that seems pretty freaking sweet even without the incredible casting stat bonuses. Those who think this circlet isn't a great epic are probably not casting enough spells to make it worth their beaucoup gold this item is commanding at auction.

just a silly observasion, to create this u only use metall basically...no cloth what so ever nedded, then how the hell can it just be cloth armor...did blizzard get lost or something

i am gonna use it on my shadowpriest.

Proc not active : VE and spam mindflay.
While proc is active : use it (Death,Blast,etc... )
Before proc wears out : apply both DoT.
/repeat and rinse

It`s probably the headgear i will be able to get my hands on for a while so. We`ll see what it`s worth.

Assuming I win the auction, no Buyout FTL :(
