Pre 2.1 this was the best bear tanking helm available (with the exception of tier 5 feral helm but few can claim to have that).

Now with the upgrades to all epic items there are two possible alternatives (though they are slightly harder to get - for those who have been at 70 for a while and are finally looking to upgrade form this):

(pretty much an exact upgrade - stats wise to cowl of beastly rage)
Comparing each socketed with https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=25896 and https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=24061 (though some would stack stamina i went for agility here simply to try to keep a balance - personal prefrence and it completes the socket bonuses) stats are what is lost/gained over the stylin purple hat:

CoBR
-18agi
+0stam
+191arm (1051) - thick hide included

Tier4
-7agi (roughly 0.5% dodge)
+3stam
+258arm (1419) - thick hide included

If you socketed the CoBR with a + 8 agi you'd only loose 14 agi wich is roughly 1% dodge - (please correct me if imy formula is wrong). Both are far harder to attain so this remains the choice of those starting out tanking at 70 and due to the high badge cost of CoBR you may find that you get your paws on the tier 4 helm first which correctly socket now appears to be a good upgrade (considering set bonuses, the extra ap and int - which is occasionally handy).

Okay.... This Use to be the Cheapest Lvl 69 item to make for a LW.. but since people figured out that a rogue needs almost nothing except Primal Shadow for thier epic LW crafting people have decided that 2-5g wat too cheap to sell the Massivly dropped "Primal Shadow"/"mote of Shadow" for around 16-25g each..... it doesnt sell but no one will lower thier prices either.. i often catch many people vending the primal shadow as it is almost completely usless to anyone besides Rogue LW and a few other things.. "mostly" Rogue LW.. i just go buy it off them when i find out.. "farming primal shadow" isnt fun.. its a boring grind with bad drops and exploding mobs. "in hellfire anyway" help bring down the price of Primal Shadow... kill a voidwalker.. lol Well i love this hat.. i can finally wear it too..

Also if your a feral tank (Druid), chances are you will have this hat for a while. To make this hat better, you should add this to it -

Gives 16 Defence and 17 dodge rating, but doesn't stack with enchants. Just get your rep up to Revered with Keepers of Time and your good to go.

I would like to point out that, making this item can infact skill you up from 350 to 370 LW. It turns green at 370, so it's a nice, fairly in expensive item to make to skill up with. And since so many people think it's "the best" for drood tank, you can make more cash from selling it then it costs to make. Good luck and happy farming.

I'm guessing this is also a good rogue's hat, lacking AP, though, the agility is pretty sweet.
Also, you could probably work out a nice looking pimp-outfit with this and one of those staff's with an orb at the top. You be pimpin'?

I made myself one of these today (got pattern off Blackheart); only pain to farm are the cobra scales .. but i even got those within an hour. Rest is easy. Funny to have to go kill lvl 14 animals in the Barrens. The hat itself has very good stats for a rogue. So I am a happy wearer ... and I ll make another one tonight to see if it also sells well. If you are on Aerie Peaks EU let me know if you want one ...

Pattern isn't listed, but drops from 2nd boss in Shadow Labyrinths. Too bad clothies can't wear it.. it's the ultimate pimp hat.

Mats aren't too terribly hard to get. Zhevra leather is a drop, pure and simple, and easy to farm for in the barrens or cheap on AH. Don't even need to skin them. Cobra scales are a bit more difficult, but still soloable for a 70. I had to kill 12 for my 2 scales. Took about half an hour and I wasn't the only one farming there. Most people have 8, or close to it, primal shadows just from questing. If not, they're easy to farm for as well. All in all, an awesome hat that doesn't require out of this world mats. A+ Blizzard!

Great piece of hat, and easy to get. Don't waste your money on buying it for a lot of cash at AH, just grind or buy the mats and get some1 to craft it for you. Lot of LW's want to craft for free so their skill can go up a bit :)

Why do you want strenght in you tanking gear?

I prefer stamina, +defence rating, agility (for dodge) and a %^&* load of armor. And though i have very little strenght i have no problems keeping aggro.
And my dps gear is the same as my solo gear. No matter what you need about 8k life in instances as dps, and that is more than enough for soloing. With the right talents you can kill 4-5 lvl70 mobs i a row before you need healing. I have around 4k mana, and thats enough for it to regen during that time. In my oppinion +healing on sologear is a waste.

Um yeah strength over agility in tank gear....sorry that does not work you need agility over strength for dodge period, agility gives u more of a crit chance, a small amount of armor and gives u dodge which as a feral tank you need as u cannot parry or block

Amazing that morons in here argue about this being druid/rogue gear, when the fact is anyone who takes time to get the mats can have it because....

i know ppl r gonna be mad at this, but is this a good hunter pvp hat? it has agi and stam. agi gives ap to us hunts and stam lets us live, so just thinking it might be not that bad for a hunter although it is great for droodz :)
