Now this would mean that in other equipment the player is already wearing, he must have socketed 2Y and 1R gem to meet the requirements for socketing this meta gem right?

pretty sure this statement is wrong since Hunters get Cheetah and that alone is a buff that gives 30% run speed. And if you spec into in in BM spec you get up to 38%.. the question is will the runspeed stack with it and make you go 46% faster

Something people seem to overlook about metagems is that the required gems also must match the color of the slot they're in. You can't just toss your gems on all crazy and expect it to activate.

Was thinking about the meta gem req's . I am aware that its the gems color that matters, not the socket color.

So lets say its a Meta gem with req
2x red
2x blue

Would it work to socket lets say
Frozen shadoweave Shoulders which have
1 blue socket
1 yellow socket

Lets say i ignore the socket bonuses and just put in 2x Glowing Nightseye. Would that give me credit for having 2x Red and 2x blue gems ?

Or do i actually have to have totally 4 gems on my gear with matching colors ? Or does gems with multi color use count for both colors in an example like this ?

its not that you cant.. you need to obtain the gem and attempt to socket it.. dont Socket.. just place it inside.. and see if it gets you your activated bonus.. thats the only way your going to be sure. i plan on useing this daimond on my pvp helm till i get my epic gear. helm = https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=28837 i dont even need to account for the other gem slots i have.. because those pants will cover the rest.. These are actually bought from the vendor who sells the exorcist's helms. I believe it is spirit shards that you use as tokens for purchase but I don't recall exactly

Anyone know the exactly what "minor run speed" increase amounts to? 3%? 7%? Gonna respec and take Fleet Footed, and since it doesn't stack I essentially just want to be sure it's not more than a 15% increase and that FF will be the "stronger" of the two.

Riding crop doesn't stack with any of the previous 3 mount speed buffs. It's a replacement and it's better and that's what nedrith2 ment with the 10%. Your 18,7% is based on the mount you have.

Bear in mind that you need to have 2x yellow gems and 1x red gem installed in your equipment before you'll see the benefit of this gem.
I think it can be socketed, it's just that you will not see any benefit until the minimum requirements are met.

its on the main wow website page now too, beware of meta gems, they have requirements before you get their effects. luckily this one is awesome and has very simple requirements. also is oddly easy to make!

This increases RUN speen not mount speed, does the stack with enchants such as boar's speed, which also adds slightly to run speed? Or does it stack with any rogue/druid abilities (dash)?

If your thinking of getting this meta (if your spending the money on the mats) you might want to look into getting the meta for 8 spirt shards from the vendor. It is the same gem except its 20 attack power instead of 24. I myself can live with 4 less AP to get a meta for almost no work. At this level you really have no use for spirt shards anyway except for free mana or health potions. Just a thought, it's what I bought after I got the epic ring (which is just OK).

This does not stack with any other increase in run speed. Not even the rogue/druid abilities.

The run speed increase may not stack with other ablities, but as a druid, my speed increase only works outdoors. I could see how this would be helpful in instances and buildings.

Meta gems have their own requirements before they will activate. If a gem requires a specific number of other gems, it counts this based on all other gems currently socketed in equipped items on the character. Secondary colored gems will count towards both colors they are eligible for.

Notice that this will stack with the rogue's talent for faster stealth speed. This talent is NOT considered a movement increasing effect but rather something like a debuff reducement. So for rogues without any +% speed this is a fine choice. As all the other Meta Gems suck like hell (mostly for the hilarious 1% proc chance) this one is a must have for almost every rogue.

To (hopefully) end all confusion with how metas work, here's my attempt at an explanation:

Swift Skyfire requires 1 red and 2 yellow gems to be currently equipped in order to activate. You must have a minimum of 3 other gems equipped in order for it to work.

This means that this meta will not activate if the only other gems you have equipped are 2 orange (or 1 orange, 1 yellow). Orange will count as either red or yellow towards the requirement (whichever you are in need of will take priority in terms of which color registers) but an orange will NOT count twice (it will not register as both 1 red and 1 yellow for the meta at the same time).

Meta gems do NOT register gems socketed in anything but currently equipped items. Socketed items in your inventory or bank are null and void when it comes to activating a meta.

For a pvp MS war, use this gem to increase your speed, not the boars speed foot enchant. Enchant your feet with Surefooted, it is more costly, but neccesary if you want to succeed in arena.
The speed increase from this gem allows you to catch up with oponents in arena who try to kite you around pillars, especially casters. As the pillar will block your line of sight for charge/intercept, this gem is a sure way to catch up with them.

*Multi-colored gems will match either of their colors when socketed. For example, an orange gem can be used to active an item bonus with a red or yellow socket.
*Multi-colored gems will count toward both of their colors when activating a meta gem. For example, a meta gem that requires 5 red and 5 yellow gems can be activated with 5 orange gems.
*You can replace a gem already socketed in an item with another one, destroying only the gems you are replacing.
*A gem does not have to match its socket color to count toward a meta gem's bonus.

These are a direct quote from WoWwiki. Now, this should end the confusion. I can tell that more than a few of you have either never used gems before, or have used them, but weren't actually paying attention.

When you equip an orange gem, it can count as a red or a yellow FOR THE SOCKET. Which means that an orange gem can be considered yellow for a yellow socket, or red for a red socket, allowing you to use a 2-color gem to get an effect you want, while still meeting the socket colour. This is only advantageous if you want the socket bonus for your item (a minor bonus, so only go for it if the gem colours will actually work for your play style). You do NOT need to put a gem of the appropriate colour in a socket. You can put a red in a blue if you want, and it will not matter at all.

As for Meta Gems, they do not function like a socket does. A meta gem looks at gem colours AS A WHOLE. Meaning that an orange gem counts as both a yellow and a red for the purposes of a Meta Gem color requirement.
There are several meta gems that require upwards of 6 different gem colours. These meta's would be somewhat difficult to use with requiring 6 other gems socketed.

*Gem colours can allow you to socket a multi colour gem to gain the socket bonus of your item.
*Meta Gems require gem colours as a whole.
*Multi colour gems count as both colours for the purposes of activating a meta gem.
