Shares a cooldown with all of the other Drums created by leatherworking. Upon right-clicking, you get a 1sec cast time at the end of which all drums gain a 2min cooldown.

Through tireless testing and random speculation, I have come to the conclusion that it stacks with effects such as Aspect of the Cheetah. Though I technically have no idea if this is true, I think I noticed a speed difference when using it in that aspect on my hunter.

does it work on swimming? i tried it, and i couldn't quite tell one way or the other. i wasn't using anything to judge beyond looking closely. meaning no mods to measure my speed or anything.

Also, if you have this handy little toy and you are a hunter, you can easily overtake a druid in travel form or a shaman in ghost wolf form while they have the flag.

Because Aspect of the Cheetah/Pack increases movement speed by 30% (making your speed 1.3 times normal), a further increase of 15% of that would increase your regular speed by 49.5% of normal (1.3 x 1.15 = 1.495, or increase of 49.5%), where Travel Form/Ghost Wolf has an increase of 40% (1.4)

If you have the Pathfinding talent (increases movement speed bonus from 30% to 38%, making it 1.38) and you used the drums, your speed would be increased by 58.7% (1.38 x 1.15 = 1.587)

This is VERY fast for an effect that can affect all nearby party members, especially when these party members are in combat and cannot get out of combat to use their mounts. A 58.7% increase of normal speed, without using a mount, gives the user the ability to quickly run down anyone who is attempting to flee from them and smash them with instant cast spells and melee attacks. What makes this even more devestating is the AoE of Aspect of the Pack combined with Drums of Speed.

Though the simple 15% increase may seem a small, useless amount at first, the point is to consider the combination aspects of it and the potential that it has.
For example, since this item can be used while shapeshifted, the bonus becomes even more useful for a druid or a shaman that is being run down. The initial speed increase of these abilities (40%, or 1.4) modified by the increase of the drums (1.15) gives a wopping 61% speed increase (1.4 x 1.15 = 1.61 or 61% increase)! This is obviously faster than a non-epic mount, meaning that a single druid/shaman can overtake a mounted runaway ON FOOT.
Though this speed increase is, in truth, less than the bonus from Sprint (rogue) and Dash (druid), which, at the highest rank, give a 70% increase, the drums last twice as long. While Sprint and Dash last 15 seconds, these drums last a full 30 seconds.
Furthurmore, the high-level PVP sets that druids can earn also give a speed bonus to travel form with enough pieces of the set. Though I am not sure if the same rules apply to this increase as the others, which says that it increases the speed of the forms by 15%, the new druid speed (without the drums) would be a 55% increase. Once you factor in the Drums of Speed, the NEW new speed is an increase of 78.25%! (1.55 x 1.15 = 1.7825)
If the bonus from the set increases the speed by a percent of the modified speed, then this will be different. In that case the speed will be an increase of 61% without the drums (1.4 x 1.15 = 1.61) and an increase of 85.15% with the drums! (1.4 x 1.15 x 1.15 = 1.8515)

Truly a devestating speed.

*note* My above information will be incorrect soon; once patch 2.4 is live, the high level PVP druid sets no longer increase the movement speed of Travel Form.

I've done some races against another druid, and the drums of speed don't seem to affect flight form, which makes sense if you think of flight form more as a mount than a shape change.
