This is an amazing gem for a holy paladin. While it is certainly nice for any other healer, a paladin will get mana from both the mana per five seconds as well as mana back from spell crits with illumination.

Nice gem, indeed. Blizzard should make more of these gems, Green/Blue and maybe one more Epic.

As was mentioned by the previous posters, this is a great gem for healadins. Now that I've started T6 I've become a bit of a spell crit fanatic (go go 50%+ holy light crit raid buffed with my ideal set, and not even including an ele shammy of moonkin in the group). Currently in my blue sockets I've been putting 11 healing/2 mp5 gems, which doesn't really help the spell crit out. However, I would have no problems swapping them all to this baby come 2.4. Sure, you lose 11 healing, which is a bit of a blow. But hey, you gain the spell crit, and personally I'd prefer a crit heal with mana refund over a normal heal with about an extra 8 or so healing on it. =P

Don't get me wrong, I prefer the 11 healing/4 spell crit H-Ramps gem (or the plain old 10 spell crit Hyjal gem), but unfortunately they just don't go well in those blue sockets, and some of those socket bonuses are worth shooting for. =)

A truly wonderful gem. H-SLabs can be a pain though, so you'll prob have earnt it if you get it. For an easier time though, take a Kara+ geared though tankadin, and the run will go like cake.

This one is not only good for paladins, but actually golden for elemental shammys, imo, and probably useful for mages too, for the same reason.
This is one of the only two gems with spellcrit on it and fits into a blue gem slot. So for those items where a blue gem actually is needed, I'd much rather take this one over the Radiant talasite (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=24066 ). But that is just me being crithorny and thinking spell penetration isn't worth a damn ^^

Acctually, this is one of the best gem's a casters can put in their blue sockets to get the socket bonus.

When checking on the "Leggings of Channeled Elements" (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=30916), the best choice would be 2x crit or haste gems, plus this "Rune Covered Chrysophrase".

Not an easy task to farm shadow labs for a single gem, but it is the best gem casters can put in their blue socket, as the alternative is stamina and spell damage.
And we all know stamina is wasted stats in PVE.

This is very, very nice for a holy paladin
considering its better to have a high spell crit than mp5, since holy pallies get 60% mana back on every single crit they get while healing (about 540 mana on a 800~ holy light heal and 108 mana back on a 177 mana flash heal, consequently costing only 300 mana for a holy light heal and 69 mana for a flash heal which by itself is insane, thusly the more crits you get the more mana you get back/conserve, the longer you can heal for in encounters) with proper talent point spending.
Now, lets socket this badboy with the 75 badge gear Waistguard of Reparation in turn giving us the socket bonus of 2+ spell crit, we are talking about a total of:
35+ Spell Critical Rating
+2 MP5
That is easily over 1.4% increase in your holy spell crit
plus you get that lil 2 mp5 which also helps
Its win-win!

As I said, very very nice for geared epic holy pallies such as myself

I understand that the gem itself is unique. But is that just inventory wise, or for the slots themselves? As in, if you have one of these slotted somewhere in some gear, you won't be able to roll for a second?

It just seems a bit odd to me, because if you've previously slotted it in some gear, but have now gotten a different piece you'd prefer it in, you'd have to either a) slot a different gem over it, or b) sell the gear. Then after doing this, running Shadow Labs:H again until it drops.

If anyone knows, I'd really appreciate the feedback. Nothing would annoy me more than having this drop, slotting it in some decent epic gear, then having to overwrite the gem and hope it drops again because I later got some insane epic gear.

Well the way to go would be to carry the epic gear with this unique gem with you, if you want a new one and overwrite it when it drops and noone else wants it. once they passed you can loot it from the corpse.

But yeah I think the same it sucks that they made those epic gems unique. If every combination of stats thats avaible with those epics would be avaible with the rare ones it wouldnt matter but in my case as a paladin I have problems to fill in the yellow slots.

I want the 12int/mana on spellcast Earthstorm Diamond metagem activated so I need combinations of yellow and other colors with useful healer stats (4 int sucks)

I'm goin all +spell crit gear/gems for my destro lock, so it looks like this will have to be a gem I use too since theyre all unique and there are so few epic gems with +spell crit and so many slots to fill!

As a pally after 2.4 i'm filling all my yellow and blue sockets with this and 'Royal' gems in the red sockets =D
