Only drops if you have the quest to free children.

You have to have a key for every cage you open so I would recommend you try to avoid cages with only 1 kid in them. Man that sounds mean, lol.

In order for the keys to drop have to get the quest "Missing Friends" from Ethan in the Bone Wastes. However, Ethan won't talk to you until you complete the quest from Rilak the Redeemed in Shattrath City.

ok this is a good comment. very useful. if u go up on platforms u can find 5 or 4 child in 1 cage. told yea it was useful. :P

Drop rate sucks on the key not worth it unless your questing and happen to come upon it

I needed two more kids and I found six kids in the same cage at the top of tree house. Cool. Got keys the first two kills. I was left with a few extra keys when done.

Don't waste your time if you aren't on a quest called Missing Friends. Killed over 100 mobs and found out I might need a quest... ;)

okay, i freed 11 children, and after that, whenever i tried to open a cage with more than one person, (which is all of them) it would not count up for me

Here's how I did this one. Go up into the trees at 29,42 area. You'll see cages with Windrippers and/or Dreadhawks standing around them. Kill those. I got 3 keys off 3 of them and with 4 kids in each cage that was enough for that quest. Very easy. And kill Urdak while you're there for "Stymying the Arakkoa".

Apparently Blizz has changed this as the key droped multiple times for me just be sure you are killing the right mobs.

The drop rate is horrible. Reward is cool though.

Go to coords 30,42 (the spot just before the ramp to go up into the tree top houses) and kill the mobs around there and up the ramps. Those mobs are the only mobs that will drop the keys (not the mobs at the other veil camps)

Once you use a key, it dissapears from your inventory. You can carry more than one key at a time though.

Also, each cage most likely contains more than 1 child. Each cage takes about a minute to respawn the children inside.

While acquiring the keys you should probably save them for the cages in the tree houses, as the two I opened had 6 and 4 children in them respectively :)

You can pick up these after you have finished the quest but haven't turned it in yet. I had one on these filling my key ring for a long time...

make sure you look inside the cage to see if there is kids in there or else you will waste a key you grinded for 10 minutes,maybe more to get...just a tip

i dont get why people say things like i got rid of the key because it was taking up room in my key ring...

keyrings can expand to any size you want em too i got it up to a 32 slot with the keys in BRD not stacked

Keys can stack to 10 but you can never pickup more then 4
