Is this still a repeatable quest after friendly? I also have the same questions for the ore/herb/leather turn ins. If you can turn in the gathered items after Friendly, it would be wise to horde (excuse the pun) them.

Crystals drop from the rays and flayers on the ledge, and from pretty much everything killable inside the mine (except maybe the oozes).

Much easier to obtain from the blobs and flayers in the mine, you don't have to worry about being blindsided by the Dragonmaw Ascendants who patrol near the rays outside.

It's easy enough to get your 40 daily crystals while completing "Dragons aren't our only problem" and "Picking up the pieces"

Ok I just want to make a quick comment about this. I tried the mine, and I tried the surface. Indeed, the mine is easier because you don't have to watch for those lvl 72 elite outside, however, the Netherwing Rays have dropped so far for me motes of mana at a ~50% rate, about the same rate as the crystals.... so this means about 3-4 primal mana while farming for this quest. This is something to consider, especially if you are herbalism and you have to get the flower quest too .

If you are a hunter, Feign death is your friend on the surface when you aggro those elites.

Just a quick little heads up..

If you have any Netherwing Crystals in your bank at the time of the quest, they will count towards your crystal count in your quest tracking. So, if you go back to turn the quest in and it says you don't have the required 40, this is why.

This happened to me a couple of times and was a little frustrating. It probably won't effect most people, but for those who it does, I just thought I'd save ya the trouble ;)

Well, if you made it this far reading, you now know that there is no one great area. It has varied for me all week. Get what you can during dailies, then finish in an area beneficial to your professions or easier for you to kill.

That said, sludge are a pain, but grind them for crystals one day and you should get https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=11081 for an easy 7 and a half gold.

Yup drop rate is terrible with this and all the other Netherwing dailys.

Good idea is to first finish the quest, then farm the rest or store alot since these crystals drop more when you are done or do not have the quest....

Wish you could trade these in for anything!
I dont know why people complain of the drop rate, I get ~1 EVERY kill, on average :( With the stupid flayer hide daily you end up killing around 100 a day at least! >< After just 3 days of dailys I have over 80 spare.
