Being a long time Paladin, I'm not sure what purpose this serves. By sacrificing most of its physical damage and stacking a ton of stamina and more than average spelldamage this could be a very viable grinding weapon for a holy Paladin.

But one could just use a sword and board and get more spelldamage by a good margin, and be taking much less physical damage.

It's another option at least, which is a good thing.

Not really sure what the deal with this weapon is. Not good for anyone for just about anything. My guess would be it was accidentally added as a two-hander. Can only assume it's supposed to One-hander with these stats.

Given the speed and the name it might be a 2h weapons dedicated to SoR, for helping holy palas to grind.
While it's true that several caster sword and shield combos give you more armor and spelldamage, the SoR coefficient for 2h weapons is higher than for 1h weapons ( on top of the higher damage range on hte weapon itself ).

Playing a Tankadin myself, and having some insight in most of the esoteric workings of my class (Read: Other specs, Seal functionality etc), I'd say this is a weapon almost perfectly suited for a Holydin using SoV.
Thing is, you'll be more or less forced to use a 2.5+ weapon for SoV if you went SnB (due to the PPM system), but with Holy Guidance and some +Damage gear, a Holydin slapping this on could do some nice grinding, I reckon.
Although this thing is perhaps a mite fast, but should work very well with SoV's PPM system.

Let's add to that that Holy Paladins gain additonal Spelldmg / healing from intellect, +11,55 (+15,75 /w intellect enchant on shield) with he 1h / shield combo, and only +6,3 Spelldamage from the 2h Maces "build in" intellect.

Even though this items dmg is a joke if u spec prot and grab reckoning along with imp seal of righteous it could be a good grindin mace or in some cases a fairly good pvp mace for protection spec pallies if the white dmg got buffed.

Paladins either use high DPS 2 handers with retri specc or 1hander+shield with a holy specc. This is a mix between both. Its not useful for grinding compared to other 2handers or 1handers+shield, its not good for pvp and its horrible for PvE scince it lacks crit and the armor from a shield. Its horrible for shamans scince they too want to either wield shield+1hander for spell damage aswell as high deff or a 2hander with as high DPS as possible. Elemental Shamans with 2 handers should be shot, and there are much better staffs from raids anyway.

Some of you seem to get what this weapon is designed for: Moonkin/Balance druids. This weapon is utterly useless for any melee class, including Shamans and Paladins, and the only class that can use two handed maces that benefits from spell damage and dont benefit from weapon DPS are druids. A balance druid benefits from all stats and its equal to a staff with similar stats.

Now normaly this would be useless for Druids aswell scince there are waaaay better casters staffs for any raiding druid, but there is one thing that makes this weapon useful, Binds on Equip. This is a very solid choice for any balance druid who does not have access to Kara or other raids, and for various reasons doesnt want to or cant get the Arena staff. 157 spell damage with awsome PvP stats is much better than any instance weapon. Scince this is ONLY ever useful to a Balance Druid I cant imagine that you're gonna have to pay much for one of those.

The only thing that confuses me is the name, which clearly indicates that this would be a Paladin weapon, and the wepaon design kinda matches the Paladin Tier 4-5, not sure which (the one with all the purple sparkly stuff). Im not sure what the hell they were thinking, but this is not in any way a paladin weapon, even if it can be an uppgrade from a crappy blue weapon there are much better epics (and blues) that can be achieved without too much effort.

This has to be a mistake a'la Girdle of the Pit.

I would be better off dusting off my Lok'amir and my Dragonheart. The marginal DPS difference is nothing and .1 slower equally so.

This compliments no paladin spec, period.

This would be good, not end-all-must-have as a 1H.

I had an Aurastone back in the day also because it had better DPS than other spell damage weapons and a nice slow seal of command friendly speed. As a 1H this could fit that nitch especially since it is a level 70 epic, BoE or not.

It's amusing that people don't seem to realise how useful for damage output this weapon would be for a SoR-using paladin: shockadin, ret heavy on SD or other combinations. But all the better if that makes it cheaper on the AH. :)

I was about to go into a long rant about why, but the increased base damage and coefficients described earlier should really be enough too see why a sword+shield produces less damage. The speed doesnt hurt either, esp for builds using vengeance.

This could conceivably be a starter moonkin weapon. Note the huge MP/5 on it, which helps with the mana issues that they currently deal with. The only thing that isn't on it is the Feral AP bonus, but as a moonkin, how often are you running around whacking stuff to regen your mana anyway? In a pinch, the fast attack speed helps if you do find yourself in such a situation since the mana/hit is based off AP. And so far, I have yet to find any staves or maces out there that have Feral AP in addition to Intellect, spell damage, and MP/5.

As was mentioned above, sure, you can get the Gavel from Exalted Lower City and an offhand for better damage/mp/5, but it won't come close to the amount of Stamina you'll need running around BGs or Arenas.

Edit: Had a mistake in my math.

Anyway, I'm a tankadin and my solo/pvp/pve DPS is based on SoR and high +spell damage. Here's my math comparing Stormcaller/Mazorthil to HoRM. From my calculations, even though HoRM has slightly less + spell than that sword/board combo, it outputs much more DPS.

Let me know if there's a discrepancy in my calculations. Also, I had it nicely formatted, but these posts don't support tabs and leading spaces. :(

Want to make it decent? Add FAP to it.

Stop talking about its DPS. Go look up a level 70 staff or two, same if not better DPS than this one.

Holy paladins grinding either should go with a sword and board to maximize available spell damage as well as the added armor from the shield or they should go with a straight out DPS two-hander such as a Gorehowl. The spell damage doesn't have a chance in hell of equaling the 53 DPS difference between the two.

My moonkin has access to staves and daggers so I have no overwhelming desire to have this as it is. Sure, it has 15 mp/5 which is... well, as good as 15 mp/5 can be. The mp/5 to me is an indication that this is supposed to be an endurance / grinding weapon. The only problem is that as it stands this doesn't suit any class all that well. A balance druid could use it but that is it.

I would drop the mp/5 for FAP and let this little bugger keep The End of Dreams company as a spell damage + FAP weapon. I would give it around 500 or so and would slow it down to about 2.8 which would compliment the Natrualist talent more. Reallocate 20 points of stamina as spirit for innervates and you would have a great little endurance / Elune's Touch / regen weapon. Another poster asked the rather standard "how often are you going to be using melee for regen" question to which I would say as often as is possible when I am out of mana. To me, the mp/5 just really can't stand up all that well when it is at the expense of spell hit or crit.

Right now the eccentricity of it is probably the most compelling reason to have one and that is a pretty poor reason.

So while it is nice to see Blizzard is trying (aren't they cute?) this staff doesn't shine any brighter in my eyes than say a Bringer of Death / Terokk's Shadowstaff /Staff of Infinite Mysteries of which none are especially hard to get. The Gladiatior staffs however blow this out of the water.

Oh, and if it uses the same Fischer Price plastic looking model as The Hammer of Destiny or Shard of the Virtuous then it is definitly going to strike out.

Remember, everyone, that even though this is lacking FAP, if you need to regen through melee, you can always swap in a weapon with FAP before you melee. You could even enchant your FAP weapon with savagry since you aren't using it for spell damage. This staff allows great min-maxing!

This weapon suxorzmax! If you happen to have a miner alt with the mats and you don't have a better weapon at the time go for it but i wouldn't suggest using it over curator staff or LC mace + 2.3 badge offhand, or mindblade + badge offhand.

The lack of crit doesn't matter due to crit not being a main moonkin stat, damage and hit far outweigh it.

The only time i would see it being applicable is PvP where you dont have access to any other weapon or combination. Like Kara/Za weps, arena weps.

People dismissing this as a good Paladin weapon are missing the blatant use of 2H's for holy paladins.

Yes, you take more damage.

Yes, you might have fewer stats and less +DMG from your weapon slots.

However, these are insignificant compared to the increased +DMG coefficient. Stupid people just say, yeah, but you get less damage from your weapons. OK. If the only +DMG you have is on your weapons, please go burn yourself. ALL OF YOUR SPELL DAMAGE, from any gear, talents, enchants...etc, makes use of this increased coefficient.

The SEVERE lack of melee abilities and damage (aside from seals, which are spell damage) would make using a regular DPS 2H really not worth it. Holy paladins don't have the attack power, crit, or any other melee abilities to make use of the higher auto-attack white damage.

You will do more damage with this weapon than you will with sword and board, assuming you have half decent gear.

This mace sucks beyond belief.

The reasoning for this is that most people state that is a grinding mace, yet it even REQUIRES you to grind it.
This will probably never recover the money this will cost you.

This weapon is a dps improvement vs. sword/mace+shield while farming single target mobs as a holy paladin because seal of righteousness receives a better spell damage coefficient from a two-hander.

I've got around 800 spell damage in my farming gear. In my unscientific test I came up with these numbers while single mob farming using seal of righteousness:

Using Stormcaller+Spellbreaker's Buckler I averaged ~340dps

Using Hammer of Righteous Might I average ~375dps

All this is is a stat stick. It's basically a staff, probably directed more toward Balance Druids and Elemental Shamans. Up until this came out, there were only two other spell DPS weapons, one was a dagger and the other a sword, this is supposed to be the 2h among those. It's a stat stick, nothing more.

Balance druids are the only ones who can realy use this without making sacrifices. Ele shamans and paladins who dont wear shields are sacrificing an extra enchant slot, not to mention half their armor. I think the point of this weapon is to give balance druids something to call their own.

when i was leveling up i used something close to it, it was the best thing I have seen for killing anything that attacks fast rogues, hunters, fury warriors, or anything using 1 handers, anyways since the attack speed is 2.1 u use all of Reckonings charges with SoR which procs on every hit, unlike SoC since vengeance uses spell dmg too, stack them up, judge and change back to SoR and you will see the large dps i was doing like 2k a swing no crits, without this nice weapon, and all greens, the more spell dmg u get the better, or with full +healing you will have huge heals and nice spell dmg, test it you may like what you see, sry for the long post enjoy >:)

What a waste of time this weapon is. Ret. Paladins will want something that stacks strength and has high weapon damage, Moonkin and Elemental Shamans will want something that has +crit, and for a Holy Paladin, the time and money necessary to farm for something like this would be totally a waste, considering you would only use it...for farming.

Is this blizzard's attempt to throw us a bone for making all the caster swords ridiculously overpowered and the opposite for every caster mace, making moonkins and shamans feel neglected in itemization? Because it's not working.

Admittedly, it could perhaps use a slight buff in the spell damage department, but it's got some pretty solid stats, it's great for a shockadin, 15mp5 is huge.

This is currently the only viable 2H weapon available to shockadins. Yes, you lose out on some spell damage from having, say, a Gladiator's Gavel + Spell dmg shield, but the base holy dmg done by Seal of Righteousness is 41% higher on a 2H weapon and the spell dmg coefficient is 17.4% higher on a 2H weapon also, that's a significant boost for Shockadin DPS.

Yes, its not for everyone, but now there's a 2H spell dmg weapon option for paladins (who can't use staves).

I had this mace crafted a month or two ago, and I simply love it! I'm working on a spell dmg Ret/Holy/Prot build and using the Lamellar plate from PvP. I've been able to sustain 500 dps in Kara without worrying about going OOM, and off-heal when needed without gear swaps (great for bad pulls when most Ret pallys would be in AP/Str DPS gear). I'm expecting those numbers to go up considerably once I dump the rest of my blues.

Actually this weapon is underestimated.

Here is some math:
x - is your total spell dmg including all enchants, excluding weapon and shield

lets compare it with Arena1 1h mace and Arena3 shield (199 and 35 spell damage) using SoR.

(x + 168) * 10.8% = (x + 199 + 35) * 9.2%
x*10.8% + 18.144 = x*9.2% + 21.528
x*1.6% = 21.528 - 18.144
x = 211.5 spell damage.

that means the is you you have MORE than 211.5 spell dmg from gear this weapon will add more to your SoR.

Lets try to compare with the best 1hand i've found https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=34176 and the best shield https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=30909
that will be 266 + 42 spell dmg.

(x + 168) * 10.8% = (x + 266 + 42) * 9.2%
x*10.8% + 18.144 = x*9.2% + 28.366
x*1.6% = 28.366 - 18.144
x = 637 spell damage.

so if you have 637 or more spell dmg for the rest of your gear thats THE BEST WEAPON IN GAME for use with SoR.
As you know 637 spell dmg is not that much, even healers can achive it.

for Arena3 weapon and shield
x=487.5 spell dmg.

This is a PvP holy shock paladin weapon.
For the sole reason that it has got loads of stamina and intellect, low DPS, and a load of spelldamage and mana regen.

There is no other class or spec that would benefit more from it than a HS paladin.

This is a really good weapon for paladin dps, I really hope they make better ones like this. Here is the build I made check it over. https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/talent=sVVZxhZVf0xMcdiIot Now think why 2h with lower spell damage then 1h with much higher and shield? with a 2h they get a better chance to stack vengeance to 5 then judge it, switch to seal of righteousness instantly after that wait 10 sec, then switch back to vengeance refresh the dot and repeat. while using Crusader strike the whole time.

At the point where the only way I can rly tank normal instances now is with a 2hander (just tanked arca with the new axe from badges in 2.4 since I wasn't taking any dmg), so I think I'm gonna get me one of these for a bit of fun : )

I'm a Healadin. Prior to this hammer, putting together a grinding set consisted
of moonlighting as a retadin during dailies with a reliance on AP and CS.
That arrangement sacrificed all the assets I'd enhanced with talents and epic gear.
With this hammer, I retain those assets, (mana pool, +heals/spell dmg/crit etc)
I also don't have to carry around a 2nd set of gear, so I have more bag space available.
It swings rather fast for a two-hander so I can apply SoV rather quickly getting
about 325 dmg a tick at 5 applications over the 150 base on what I'd call
'hard targets' otherwise, I'd use SoR on 'soft targets'. If you're looking for a grinding two-hander
that will let you play your strengths and provide efficient soloing to a healing
spec, this hammer will do that.

An elemental shaman could make use of this, but since they can use shields and don't melee, like ever, and the dps is crap for enhancement, it should be a 1-hander. Very odd.

Gstern, I wouldn't use this for melee.... Sure tons of +damage, but I'm no shockadin, I'd still want to be able to hit hard with it. I'm holy spec and I still melee. 65 DPS? On a 2h EPIC? No way... I'd rather get Blacksmithing and get the Lunar Scythe or Thunder than use this.... Twice as much DPS on those.
For healing, I'd never use compared to a combination like the Essence Focuser and Crystal Pulse shield... and later (from Kara) something like Light's Justice and Tryptich Shield of the Ancients (I currently am using Essence Focuser + Shield of the Ancients.)

I agree with Hitmanblack, this thing is a piece of junk.

This was a mistake or poor planning.

its not a boomkin weapon because they have several staves that are better, plus they can just get 1-hander and some off-hand caster item that would be much better for them.

Its not a pally weapon because we can get better stats for any spec from almost any other 2-hander or 1-hander and shield, plus we would get the bonus from the armor and block on the shield. the only thing that might work is a shockadin but the Dps still blows beyond words so its not even worth farming the mats for it.

And if i saw a war or feral druid using that i would most likely Slap them and laugh.

The only thing i can think of is that this was intended to be a 1-hander tanking weapon for a Paladin (Then all the stats would make sense) but someone messed up and made it a 2-hander during programming. And since Blizzard does no wrong they plan on ignoring it or fixing it in a later patch and saying "We have updated some items".

This weapon is NEEDED for PALLY's.

If you roll a holy pally and you want to quest solo, how do you do damage? Well, now you have the option of using Seal/Judgement of Righteousness paired with a quick two handed weapon. Most +spell damage weapons do very little physical damage, most one handed maces do about 41 dps (white damage), and blizz just made a spell damage weapon BOE that is two handed with +25 more dps (white damage).

If you wear LAMELLAR pvp gear, this weapon is ideal. You want +spell damage and a two handed weapon with decent dps. As a prot pally in 2v2 my job is to stay alive. Although I can survive against most classes, I have issues killing them with out help. Now I can swap weapons during combat dependant on my opponents - A shield is pointless against magical dps. Good stamina and intellect rating and +15mp5 OMG, mana regen is great on this.

For all of you who are dissing on this weapon, do some research, the NAME implies exactly what it is for SEAL and JUDGEMENT of Righteousness.

Question: Any Ret pally's using this with +spell damage gear? If so, how does it compare to Seal / Judge of Command.

I as well got the pattern, made one and a Balance Druid bought it. He too thought it was a 1hander and wanted his gold back. Told him buyer beware. I toggle between Ret and Holy and still havent found a good use for this piece of junk.

These plans dropped for my group in Heroic Underbog just 2 days ago. It was the last 4 pull, pat - b4 you head up the ramp to the 2nd boss lvl.

As a moonkin currently equipping The Bringer of Death, I realize that this is the superior weapon. However, I'd be a bit disappointed to lose my 2% spell crit and trade it for the 15 mp5 (even though that's huge in long fights, what's more fun than seeing big crits?). So I think I will still try to upgrade to Terokk's Shadowstaff instead of this. It's obtainable in a heroic 5 man and has similar stats to this weapon (less stam, more int) with 15 mp5 traded for 37 spell crit.

Although if you tend to tend to find yourself running low on mana in long boss fights, I would guess this is the best option for a moonkin short of raiding.

This mace offers %^&* loads of Sp Dmg, fast enough to get in good wacks on Righteousness.

This mace no white dmg but a good amount of yellow coming from it.

From this, you have 10% more Holy Dmg from aura. This means Holy Shock and Righteousness is upped 10%.

Not to mention the Judgements each 8 seconds.

So basically...

SoC > Judge > SoR > Judge > SoR > Judge > HS (Repeat as needed)

Not to mention Concencration can help here if specced right.

Basically this Mace offers good speed, nice SpDmg

I figure Boomkins can benefit from this mace in terms of the Dmg and Healing.

But Shockadins....drool over this mace for it is your god. You just dont know it yet. Im going to test this out and inform you later about it.

Mats required:

16 khorium bars = 32 khorium ore
12 felsteel bars = 72 feliron ore (2 ore per bar, 3 bars per felsteel bar) & 48 eternium ore (2 ore per bar, 2 bars per felsteel)
6 primal might = primal water, primal earth, primal air, primal fire and primal mana (all x 6)
2 primal nethers (generally 50-150g each)

I think it's much easier (and cheaper) to get the lower city epic mace and find a good offhand for it.

I use this as Ret, but, ONLY when grinding lower level instances, the speed makes it easy to cruise through those low level mobs.

I have this Hammer on my 70 Druid (Eturs) on stonemaul so for anyone else who wants it crafted ask Foomanchoo, he crafted it for me. Im still working on 40 spldmg but i kinda went broke after by the fel steel and khorium bars :D

But overall this weapon has really helped when ur in boomkin form and u some mana back when ur beatin on mobs with it

I can actually see this weapon being useful for a Ret Paladin OT. Combined with Imp RF, you'd generate massive threat with this, SoR and CS.

just to make sure everyone knows this, this weapon is COMPLETE AND TOTAL CRAP *for a ret pally*. As a ret pally you need a slow weapon with a speed aroound 3.6 or slower to max out damage from crusader strike and SoC procs. Also spell damage is next to useless for a ret pally, crusader strike has even been changed to 110% weapon damage so that's not even an argument anymore as well as it's much more efficient to increase your SoC proc damage with your melee damage than with spell damage. Also this weapon has no strength/attack power and no crit chance/agility which makes it completely worthless for a ret pally. However someone with a shockadin build could go crazy with it but i'm not a shockadin so i'd rather not go into that :)

This is for Holy paladins,specifically Shockadins. It can be used for killing elementals in nagrand. In other words i can kill stuff Solo without having to respec.

this seems like a elemental shammy wep more than a pally wep because no strength and not alot of damage. But it would be rightful if a pally had it.

A two-hander? I'm not sure I would want this as a holy or shockadin. Not having a shield will really cramp my style.

this item can be good for OT when u dont get hit , and also for holy dps spec , i dont know if u can do a good dps ,but with 2 hand wpns ur SoR dmg is a lot higher then 1 hand, i wanted to try to use this but i dont got holy dmg bonus =X

This is very good weapon for shockadin. i can tell. when you got good spelldama gear on, it owns. with SoR weapon + spelldamage, the sum is around 400-700 in every 2s hit. And my spell damage with this weapon is +884. I putted +40 spelldamage enchant on this weapon and it started to hurt ppl. I can recommend it for every pala who wants to be shockadin. And dont forget holy shock, SoJ, consecration....

And by the way! I bought this recipe only 150g ^^ I am playing on Boulderfist server if any1 is intrested of it. Chara named "Bottle"

This weapon is not for pallys at all. The only paladins that MIGHT consider using this, is a healadin. And even then, they rely almost purely on spelldamage. This is some wierd compromise between wep damage and spelldamage. If you´re out for spelldamage, get a shield for protection, and don´t risk a lot of health just to get 20+DPS. You´ll get more heal/spelldamage+ with a onehander and a shield anyways. More than makes up for the DPS.

it is a paladin weapon.
for shamans its best to use 1h spelldmg/healing mace if elem and one whit more dps is ench. its a nice weapon for balance druids, but u there is several staffs that are better.
paladins cant use staffs and this is the ONLY real 2h spell dmg weapon exept staffs(there are a couple of others who got like 30 spell dmg...) therefore paladins are really the only ones who need it.
what do they need it for? u might ask. its better than a 1h for a prot pala if tanking a caster mob and u have probably heard of the "shockadin" (spelldmg pala) this mace would be much better than a 1h when fighting casters (seal of righteus does much more dmg whit 2h weapon)
would love to have this on my pala but it cost alot :/
it would also be really nice for retr palas if they didnt *!@# up crusaderstrike in last pach... (110% of wep dmg instead of wep dmg + 40% of ur spell dmg)
is called Hammer of RIGHTEOUS Might and works better than any other weapon whit seal of righteous :)

I bet a hunter's pet could tank all those bosses if they had a good eneough healer. Being a healer, i've healed warriors with 11k armor through prince, but that doesn't mean this item is good for pve even slightly. The stamina is only good for pvp because even if you can have a paladin tank with that, doens't mean you should ^^ . Dont buy this PLEASE! lol I hate downing items that people are trying to sell, but this item really isn't all that good it doesn't hit hard at all or fast so the only thing positive is the 500 life you get which doesn't do much when you do crap damage.

Ok follow up time.

Im currently going to test this out in terms of Shockadin PvE.

Now before i do this i need to know what Spell Hit rating i will need for this to happen.

Now i will also say YOU do not need Melee Hit. It dont matter in this. You will have these things.

Really its all there just i need to tally up Spell Hit of what i will need.

If i can get this to work in PvE basic 5 man i can move on to test in Heroic Mode. However im having high hopes i can have this work even for Raids. If i can get this to work i will let you all know. Just please give me a Spell Hit total on what im going to need.

They buffed the Damage, healing and mana cost of Holy Shock when 2.4 came out.

Yea, id really love to test this soon but im doubleboxing making Lionheart Executioner, getting my DPS goggles (dropping mining) and then finishing up my Shockadin Gear...luckily Lamellar will be accessible for me.

i could see thiis being useful MAYBE for a balence druid but this is IT. And even then wouldn't it be better to get a staff with +crit then mp5?
