I was just playing with these, and here's what I know: You acquire them by right clicking on the Water Barrels that are located near the Fire Training areas, or near Masked Orphan Matrons.

You can only have one in your inventory at a time, and they operate similiare to crafted dynamite, as in, right click it in your inventory to bring up the green targeting circle. You can also drag the bucket from your inventory into a quickbar slot, so you can activate it a bit faster.

There is a slight delay from when you click it or activate the quickslot to when you actually throw it, but you CAN run around and jump and you'll still be able to throw it. Also, when you have a bucket in your inventory, you'll see that your character is holding one too, it dispears if you mount or unsheath weapons, but it will still be there afterwards. From what I can tell, this doesnt disapear after logging.

For the actual purpose of this bucket, Im not sure at the moment. I reckon its used to extinguish fires that the Headless Horseman starts in the starter zone's towns. (Brill, Razorhill, Goldshire, etc etc)

Edit: If you target a player with the center of the targeting circle, you'll throw it at them and they'll catch it into their inventory (most likely only if they dont already have a bucket). There is a nice water explosion effect when the bucket lands too, its fun to get the explosion to land on other people.

This item is used in the quest Fire Brigade Practice. Currently there's no quest information in wowhead for this.

You get nice bucket animation while you are having this item in the inventory. So don't use it and go raid -- you'll have a lot of fun and questions about bucket :)

I once tried to put out ALL the practice fires. It is a bit hard but if you do it the gaurd near it will say:

"Well done! We'll be ready when the real fires begin!"

Then he/she starts the fires again.

I have no quest. I just got a water bucket but I went through my entire quest log and no quest. So just telling someone to read the quest doesn't exactly help much.

thottbot lies, they are not stackable, and only ne allowed in your inventory!

A bug of note: if you have this in your inventory, unsheath your weapons, then put them away, the bucket will be at your hip and you'll be holding your weapon instead!

I would love to see a one-handed mace with the bucket model, or even a permanent bucket of water to splash people with.
