They seem to have increased the drop rate... dont know for sure but before i had to kill 2 or 3 camps worht of them and then go buy drinks before i got them, now i get them in less then 10 kills

i killed about 8 blood warders and went inside mana forge B'Naar and killed 1 warp engineer and it dropped

Note one important thing: this is party loot item, so if you are in a party with other people who have the quest, everyone can loot the plans.

Need to kill a few more times to make sure but seams to be a 100% from the
Sunfury Warp-Engineer on the steps at B'naar.

Edit 5 times in a row now the above mob in particular on the steps has dropped first time. Don't actually think that it will be as specific as this particular mob as there are other warp-engineers about but time will tell, indeed also for the named mob in general.

Edit on the sixth try of gathering information to this theory the engineer on the steps did not drop, nor did 2 engineers or warp master nearby so i continued to kill any sunfury bloodelf. The plans did drop after 20 or so random kills but indeed from a warp-engineer.
Concluding that there is not a 100% drop from the named mob or the particular mob but with this information and a looking at how the loot information is changing as it updates for all the sunfury blood elfs I would sugest that there is a high drop rate from the Warp-Engineers, Warp-Masters and Captains, bearing in mind the loot is only available when on the quest. :)

I won't give up!
I have been grinding them for 1 hour and 30 minutes now non stop and i kill them pretty fast (before they can hit me).
Usually it takes me 3 kills to get the plans, i have allready got 9 greens and 2 tomes, thats a total of 11 greens.
WTF!

I did this quest several times over the course of a week and it does seem like the engineers inside B'naar have a higher drop rate than the mobs outside, though this could be wrong from what i saw it wasn't. I was getting it in about 2 to 3 kills everyday from the ones inside.

Captain Arathyn seems to be one of the more popular mobs to farm. Being the statistical % already rated on here, he's rated as having the highest drop rate for it.

I got mine of a Sun Fury Guardsman at manaforge Coruu. I'm pretty sure any of the blood elfs in Netherstorm can drop the plans, it's just the drop rate is terrible. It took me over 30 mins to get mine. My guess is that Blizzard created this quest to combat the shortage of Arcane Tomes versus Fel Armaments in the realm economies.

I got mine at manaforge coruu off a Sunfury Guardsman took about 20mins or so for it to drop for me, i had previously been trying to get it at manaforge ara but was having no luck there....

got the plans from master daellis dawnstrike from manaforge duro, i'd suggest trying the named elves, their drop rates seem to be higher

o yea and what a really good thing about this new daily quest is, you complete the quest very easy and then you get the 10G and then if your lucky you get a weapon instead of armor in the shattered sun supplies when you complete this quest, so really your getting 10G, and the supplies that could be about problably 5-10G so thats like 15-20g your getting in this quest if you sell the weapon or armor you get from the supply box

I just picked up the plans from Manaforge B'naar, right outside Area 52. Killed about 10 soldiers to get it.

Probably easier, since it's a little bit closer..

The only way this is worth doing is to have a full group and aoe grind it. Once the plans drop for one they drop for all.

You can pretty Much farm the plans out of the Blood elves in Netherstrom near the Mana forges:

Manaforge B'naar that's where I got mine from cords 23, 72
Manaforge Coruu cords 48, 83
Manaforge Araa cods 26, 39

It took me about 10-15 minutes, got it at Manaforge B'Naar. Nice, easy 10g + some rubbishy cloth boots. :)

Well, since the q item drops from any sunfury blood elf in nethertorm,i suggest the fastest way.FP to Area 52 and go just to the near Manaforge B'Naar.Just farm the blood elves there and it will drop eventually.Got mine after the 10th kill.

it says in the quest log its a radom drop,so i figure it has as much of a chance to drop off your first kill (like mine) as it does to drop off your 100th kill. but maybe iam wrong? if it does have a chance to drop off one mob more then another, by all means let us know :)

You can group this quest if you want and it'll drop for both of you on the same mob if you want to speed through it.

Just got mine from a sunfury geologist at the manaforge b'naar. Only took about 5 mins. Maybe 5 or 6 kills of the sunfury.

This is an easy quest to do and it's nice if the cooking daily is manalicious as you can get two dailies done in one area, maximizing your gold potential :)

CONFIRMED! got my drop off of Spellbinder Maryana...I think she drops the plans almost 100 percent of the time at Manaforge Coruu.

I got mine from Overseer Seylanna at Manaforge Coruu, so it seems named elves have the best chance of dropping them.

On the patch release day it took me 15 kills to get the plans when i returned the next day i pulled a mob which was linked to another and the first mob i killed dropped the plans both times i've gone to Manaforge Coruu. Hope this helps.

the thing about this quest is that sumtimes its for u, and sumtimes its against u, for example yesterday and the day b4 i got the attack plans off the first guy, but for the last 3 days ive had to clear almost the whole manaforge (inside and out) to get it

I messed around for 20 minutes, took other posters' advice and found Spellbinder Maryana, and boom - she had it on her. The drop rate for her must be pretty astronomical...

... the only reason that the drop rates are so low, is because these mobs have been farmed and killed for quests since the release of TBC. it's only recently that they added the plans to their loot tables

I always kill the overseer inside Manaforge B'naar. Everytime, it drops for me either on the first or second kill. He respawns in maybe 3 minutes also.

Hi folks,

Never posted before but wanted to share this information to my fellow players.

this quest is not that hard. Its all in the location. Fly to Cosmo and hit the archers in the south area of the Mana Forge. You will find a line of them just south west of the flight point. In the last few days I have NEVER failed to get my plans in more than 6-7 kills on both my 70's. ALL but two attempts so far have taken THREE kills or less with a hefty percentage of the quest ending in but one kill.

I think, based on my first attempt at another area, that the drop rate is higher on the higher level mobs. This seems to also be the case in the nether essence gathering quest.

If you're an enchanter and never got around to grinding the +30 Int to weapon enchant, this is a great way to do it. Just kill the Sunfury Researchers every day to find the plans. Worked for me!

Just confirming what several other people have said... this seems to be easier at Manaforge Coruu.

I had tried to get these plans to drop for two days at Manaforge B'naar (not 2 days straight, obviously, but at least 30 minutes per try over the course of a couple of days), and *nothing*. I was really annoyed. Finally read comments here, flew over to Corru, killed ONE freaking mob and they dropped first try! o.O
