A boot knife or a gambler's dagger is a small fixed-blade knife (usually, a dagger) that is designed to be carried in or on a boot. Typically, such a knife is worn on a belt or under a pant leg. If worn around the neck (by means of a chain or lanyard) they become a neck knife. Boot knives generally come with a sheath that includes some form of a clip. Despite being found in the drop tables of various mobs, this particular item can only be obtained using the Rogue ability Pick Pocket on Humanoids in the 11-20 level range. This makes the Boot Knife a relatively rare commodity, albeit it still has no intrinsic value.

The Boot Knife is one of few Grey quality items with no vendor value. Other such items include the Wrapped Gift, A Thoroughly Read Copy of "Nat Pagle's Extreme' Anglin.", Noboru's Cudgel and The Story of Morgan Ladimore. Scorched Rocket Boots technically has no value either, but it can be opened to reveal valuable materials. Here's the full list of Greys with no vendor value, but please note, that the list contains some datamined items that do not actually appear in the game itself.

This throwing weapon has no unique visuals to it either. It has the same animation and graphics as other throwing knives, such as Broken Small Throwing Knife. The Boot Knife is the third weakest Thrown weapon in the game, after Broken Crude Throwing Axe and Broken Small Throwing Knife, and it's outperformed by other Thrown weapons of its level (Broken Balanced Throwing Dagger and Broken Weighted Throwing Axe).

By this point it should be quite evident that this poor quality weapon has very little utility in the game. One may be surprised to find out, however, that this is actually the fastest Thrown weapon in the entire game making it a somewhat handy item for pulling patrols in dungeons. The level 35 options have a speed of 1.80, though, and this speed can be improved upon by using fast Bows or Guns. Note, that this niche use does not make it any more coveted.

Also, the weapon deals Physical damage instead of Frost damage as suggested by the wowhead tooltip. This is an error repeated in all Thrown weapons in this database.
