I tried to farm these scales with my lvl 38 Rogue to make the chest and found it a tedious, low-drop-rate event. Then I took my 60 mage and just blasted them! Much quicker that way. Dustwallow maps are correct

These scales are a pain to get, Its also probably alot harder for me cause im a Lvl 31 rogue trying to kill lvl 35-37 mobs.

They drop from murlocs just south west from Southshore. Very low drop rate thought :/

doesn't even begin to describe how infrequent they drop.

unless you luck out, plan on a couple hours to farm enough scales to make both items.

warlocks: set your succy on aggro and cast a DoT, she'll tear through them in no time.
and save on your repair bill :-)

I wasn't looking for these, but I got two or three after killing only six or eight murlocs in Stranglethorn. Those who really care to farm can check it out and verify the drop rate for themselves. :P

I farmed these at 57,21 in Dustwallow Marsh. I did it during the Hungry! quest. Over the course of that quest I got 5 scales in about 30 minutes. The drop rate here is much better than the drop rate in Southshore.

I farmed Southshore for 1 hour and never found a thick murloc scale

I was lucky enough to find some on AH after looking for two weeks. I started farming the murlocs of hillsbrad, and after killing about 20 of the murlocs, I had 2 scales. I have bad luck:-(

Easy place to harvest these is in Stranglethorn around 34,21 got about 20 in 30 min or so. The Murkgill are the ones that drop it.

The Murkgill murlocs at 33,21 in stv has the best drop ive seen so far, i get 1 scale every 2-3 kills, unfortunatly there arnt many of them there, so you will only get about like 6-10 then have to wait for respawn

The drop rate in STV is NOT 1 every 1-2 kills. I used my 70 druid to farm these and got a stack of 10 after killing all of em 3 or 4 times. I would estimate about a 25% drop or less but still better than SS. Going to Dustwallow next to check that rate. Update to follow

drop rate in STV is more like 1 out of every 5-7, not every 1-2. Still better than SS. Going to Dustwallow next. Oh, I used my 70 druid and killed all the murlocs in STV about 5 or 6 times and got 12 scales.

The Vile Reef is a good spot, especially as the Murloc warriors seem to drop 50% of the time :)

If u need these for certain things, I suggest u go farm to Dustwallow Marsh, to the beach where the murlocs are. High percents, a few chests and a rare mob there ;) also quests involved.

All those playing wow classic. These drop Nicely from Dust Marsh Murlocs.
East/Northern coastline. Or hit that tiny murloc town just west off the North/eastern coastline.
Got 12 out of 42 kills. Just to give ya an idea.
