Helboars definetly can't drop this - trust me, I killed about 50 of them because I couldn't find the normal ones. The normal boars drop it however and it's a pritty high chance too so leave Helboars alone and kill the normal ones if you ever one finish this :)

Helboars do indeed drop these, and I doubt you killed 50, or you would have got one. This quest took me longer than it should have, seeing as the drop rate is supposedly 50%.

I have mobinfo that shows how many I've killed and it was 52... probably just really unlucky but in any case even if they drop the drop rate definetly isn't 50%

I got one of these from a Hellboar, and I only killed one. So, you may have just been unlucky...

they are used for quests, look above. they just don't say "quest item" on em because the quests are proly repeatable

To get 6 of them, i had to kill 25 boars. The first one didn't even drop until about the 14th one I killed though. Extremely frustrating. If it's being diffult for you, I suggest waiting a few hours, or even until the next day. I find that usually after waiting a while the drop rate will get better.

hmmmmm, when i did this quest i got 3 in like 10. The drop rate is a little odd.

Droprate is awful killed 30+ of the Ashmane Boars and all I got was the tusk crap. Finally I flew to Stormwind and bought the stupid things.

The boar's are around 48,38.

I had to kill around 15 or so, good luck.

There aren't any boars there that I could find. I found them around 56,30. There are 4-7 at a time and it took me 28 boars.

Maybe it was a glitch for you guys. I killed 5 boar and got 4 lungs.

It only too me 5 min to collect them at the coords 58.3.
Killed 4 of them as a lvl 45 Hunter

i picked one of these up, and im pretty damn sure i dont have any of the quests that need these :S

I actually got 7 in a row from Ashmane Boars within 5 minutes of the server going down. That somewhat makes up for all bad luck I've had with these before.

The drop % listed here must be way off. I've killed about 25 boars and not gotten a single lung.

I've slayed about 20 ashmane boars now and not a single lung drop. grrr! Frustrating. 32%, my arse!

The drop rate is not anywhere near as high as stated. It's like this for several quests, where they use drop rates for quests items that are not realisitic. These lungs do not drop over half the time on two monsters. You will not, ever, convince me the drop rate is greater than 10%. When you do this quest you will also notice this and question, first off, why you're even doing these quests. Second, you will ask why WoWhead vehemently states the drop rate is at above 50% for two boars. That is simply not true, someone put a random number in there.

Just a PSA if you are farming these. Kill the Basilisks and Felbeasts as they share spawns with both types of boars.

This reminds me of the Grey Bear tongues. Killed over 20 of the pigs (Ashmanes) and have yet to get a single lung. Bliz anatomy at its best.

Can't find any boars? KILL THE BASILISKS AND FELBOARS TOO!
Seriously, they share spawn locations. If you kill 4 felboars; 2 boars, a basilisk and a felboar might spawn. That's better than riding in circles!

We can all agree on it being poor gamedesign, but that's the way it works, so let's deal with it.
The reason that there are always so few boars is because everyone keeps running around only killing them, and sometimes a felboar or basilisk will spawn instead, leaving practically zero boars alive.
