It seems the Basilisks share spawn points with the boars in the area (both Ashman and demons). If there aren't enough Basilisks for you to get the quest items, try killing some of the other mobs as well to create more Basilisk spawns.

As a fire mage, the only chance i had to finish the quests that required these, i farmed some on my main character. They have huge resistance to fire and took far too long for me to kill for it to be worth it.

you'd think all basilisks ought to have a brain....
killed about 15 only got 5 brains. now i feel bad i've killed the smart ones =(

These % drop rates are absolute poppycock. The drop rate is at the most 1/10 so don't expect to get many very fast.

i killed about 30 crystalhides already, they have NO brain.

I was slaughtering the Redstones last night, and the drop rate was 10% or less. That was around 2-4 am server time.

This afternoon around 3 server time, the drop rate is more like the 30-40% listed above. Not sure why, but apparently they have more brains in the afternoon.

I was just checking the area.. Im only a 45 so not much I can handle there. .but killed a few redstones and gotbrains 50% of the time at about 1 pm west coast time.

but cant seem to find what they are used for..before I just vendor them.. I see a stack going for 4g on AH but what's thier use?

The basilisk brains are a component in two or three repeatable quests you can do in the blasted lands.. you get the quests from two NE just down the road from the entrance into the area and to the right.... each quest reward is an item with a very nice buff, but they're all different and require different components and once you turn them in the quest changes names and you can get it again but it's still the same quest essentially

5 different quests each with these different buffs offered upon completion
+25 agility for one hour
+25 intellect for one hour
+25 stamina for one hour
+25 spirit for one hour
+25 strength for one hour

So depending on what class you are will depend on the quest you want to go for:)Since they are repeatable you can do them over and over but the items are unique so you can only carry one on your person at any given time.. hope this helps:)Also some of them stack with other buffs and some don't, I haven't figured out which do and which don't as I just started strength and stamina one for my warrior:) GL and happy hunting

If you're lazy, you can buy all this stuff in the Auction House. I wouldn't recommend it, but it does save time.

When I arrived near the supposed spawn spots all I found was boars and felbeasts (and the other felbeast cousin whose name I forgot). There were 2 basilisks total, and no other players around.

I found out that if you kill a load of boars and felbeasts, sometimes a basilisk respawns, and the other way around. So if you find a bunch of boars near 59,28 or felbeasts and co near 50,35 kill them, and come back 2 minutes later. Worked like a charm for me.

Dropped all the lowbie slisks, rode around for a while waiting for them to respawn... meh.

Rode around looking for the highbie ones... saw two in about an hour. None of the lowbies.

?

Tons of boars though.

Don't know where you get a 30% drop rating from. Its nowhere near that high maybe 1 in 10 and that would be conservative. drop rate sucks. please edit your drop rating to show a more correct number

I am here trying to level up with a level 45 Paladin, I got 10 brains after about 2 hours. Also, a couple of gizzards and a boar lung.

WTF I started this quest just as i hit level 50.... im not 54% into level 51 just trying to get these damn brains! I'm going F****ing mental!

for my 51 warlock the drop rate is almost zero.
i waisted more than 2 hours getting 3 brains and the non-quest drops were not worth this level of effort.

I sure would like to know what changes the drop rate from 33% to zero.

I hear the a high agility/critical strike affects the glass spider leg drops in the searing gorge. maybe it's the same here.
