Considering how few of these bastards there are in this area, Blizzard should really increase the droprate. I prioritized getting the Gizzards, but still ended up with all the other required quest items at least 30 minutes before getting my last Gizzard.
Unless you have a lot of patience you might as well skip the Vulture's Vigor quest, because it's probably going to take you quite some time getting 10 Gizzards.

If you get it at a lower level, like I did, just hold on to it for a while.

In my experience, the drop rate, was much much lower than the posted 33%. So far, I've killed 35 mobs and only 3 drops...

Really this is one of the worst drop rates in the game, or at least it feels that way. I say: Don't waste your time and energy.

These were easily the most frustrating group of quests I've done.

Currently i am getting the same crappy drop rate as 90% of you posters are. However i have done this quest multiple times and i have to say that it has never been this big of an issue. In fact what usually gives me the most trouble is the basilisk brains, but this time around they're showing a pleasing 40% drop rate. The only way i can think of explaining this (and rate posted by thott) is that drop rates on these specific (and perhaps other) quest items are not a fixed value... they might change from hour-to-hour or from day-to-day w/e... my point is that if 1 hour the drop rate is at 60% and another hour the drop rate is at 5% this would average out to be about 33% (the rate posted by thott) not to mention the reason there are so many posts confirming the terrible drop rate is because these are all the people doing this quest on an "off-hour" if you on an "on-hour" and the drop rate is swell then why would you come to &*!@# on thott? My only advice is to (unless u don't mind grinding) come back in an hour or so, do something else come back maybe the drop rate will be magically higher :D

Alright. I know everyone sits and thinks that this quest has horrid droprate but there are several things I'd like to point out.

First of all, I'm having an easy time with this quest. I'm getting about the approximated droprate.

Second, there's the matter of the estimated droprate at 33%. 33% is 33/100, 33/100 is about 1/3, so you should be getting maybe one for every three, more correctly every three and a third, So to get ten you'll be killing around 30. Now if you are one of those people that has always had bad luck with drops, or even if you're just impatient, it's going to seem like a lot more and it will take longer. It's true it really does depend on luck.

Next, there's the fact that the items drop even when you're NOT on the quest. You can collect them outside the quest, I did that with a few of the Blasted Boar Lungs. It doesn't really have as much to do with how many people in the area are on the quest because you get them without the quest anyway. So just keep that in mind.

There are people that don't have a hard time with this quest, but then there's that majority of the people that seem to have crappy drops. If you think you're one of those people then just don't do the quest - they repeat over and over so don't feel you have to do them. It's like the goblin's quest in Feralas. After you finish it the first time you don't get exp.

Anyway, there's my two cents...

Well, all I have to say is:

Avoid this quest if you can. If you can't find any others, Make sure your rested before you start. I grinded about a whole level by the time i finished them all. It's much more rewarding that way. :)

Stick to the bonepickers around 55,44. It doesn't get so tedious then, because you can grab the hellboars a little south for the lungs, and just across the path you can get basilisk brains.

I gave up after 30 kills without a drop, really want to get 150 + mana for my twink priest though.

A fast and easy way to complete the quest is to run between where you get the quest and a little bit south of Dreadmaul Hold. Also between Kuma'sha the Collector (south west of Nethergarde Keep)and east of him. The last place is directly south of Nethergarde Keep. Hope this info helps you out.

I'm ordered to locate these for the series of 'buff' quests, (set by the two Highborne/Blood Elf characters).

And this is really irritating me, the Vultures are sparce, any trace I find I'm guilty killing as I know there's a reasonably friendly Draenei hunting them too. (I'm a Troll)

This quest (item) is a great way of rebuilding bridges with the Alliance (sarcasm) and even fellow Horde-players.

I just wished there was a concentrated area where I could farm this item.

Not only the drop rate seems very low but also the vultures don't have a large population there.
Anyway I've found a fews spots where they respawn (plus you don't have to wait too long for it).

Cords:
64,28 just one
one flying from 64,28 to 53,27
55,36 on both sides of the road. There should be at least two, it you are lucky other 2 will be flying on the other side (but I haven't traced their paths).
55,44 another two

Took me about 30 mins to get enough for Vulture's Vigor and Basilisk Bite quests.

I have had no problems with this quest, doing all the quests given by the two highborne/bloodelfs at once isn't a big deal... sure it may be a 2~3 hour grind, but The Blasted Lands, if you choose to level there, is a grinding place.

I wonder how much my 1 Gizzard will go for in the AH!

The drop rate on this is pathetic. I don't know how Allakhazam does their math, but for me it was more like 5%. Even Worse, there are only about a dozen or so vultures to go around, so if someone else is grinding them... well, good luck. I didn't do any of these quests with my Hunter; I just did them with my Warrior, and I WON'T be doing them with any of my other toons.

The drop rate on these is so very very low as to say forget it...if I want to spend hours getting some drop that is apparently just not there ever....I will go play EQ >.< C'mon Bliz...read the comments and fix this ...it is not like you to have a quest that is like this messed up.

The trick is too not damage the gizzard when you fight them. A task I VERY suck at.
